  1. Quite possibly but they were way beyond negligent behaviour allowing the device to be connected so many times, well into malicious intent. Whilst they weren't dismissed for it, they were later dismissed for gross misconduct. They claimed for unfair dismissal and the ACAS found in the company's favour. The amount of hostility I have been on the receiving end of is frankly insane. It's an odd industry - doesn't make it right of course but again to use a buzz phrase, fighting fire with fire is not unusual.
  2. No and no. It was very confrontational unfortunately but it did the trick for a few years. It was the third 200 mile round trip to that office in a 12 month period to try and work out why they were having issues again (this pre-dates managed switches etc.). The first visit I found the router. Disconnected it, replaced it with a mini switch, put a note on the router saying not to be connected to the company network. Explained the reason to the office manager, asked whose it was - no idea. Second visit, found it in a different place, wrote on it in permanent pen not to be used on company network, put it in the bin. Asked again whose it was - no idea. Third visit. Found it again, hidden but connected. Put it in front of the office manager and smashed it. That office manager is long gone thankfully. A different office a few years later did a cracker. The office manager emailed me and copied the directors in (always a favourite that) - saying that the office morale was really low because of how bad the network was. We did have some basic monitoring by then, so I took great please in replying to all with a list of websites that were rinsing their bandwidth. BBC Iplayer, Sky etc. I included a screenshot of the manager's PC showing he was streaming two football games at the same time and cracked open the popcorn. That manager is also thankfully long gone, and these days everything is so much more locked down including DHCP snooping so no more rogue router issues. It should never be a fight between IT and office staff - IT Is there to make the offices work efficiently, but to use an annoying buzz phrase, it's a two-way street.
  3. No doubt it will sell as well with it being D&S. Even if there is an updated version for less. It's D&S so must be worth a fortune...
  4. Yup, had a few of those 😆 a favourite was instead of asking what to do when moving computers they do their own thing such as bringing in an old router from to add extra network ports, then wondering why nothing worked. I ended up smashing one with a hammer in front of that office's manager to give a not so subtle hint. When I was a volunteer, it was a relatively small outfit so no "groups" - I wonder if perhaps separate groups on a big line might be counter productive in ways as the smaller groups start to believe they own the whole of their fiefdom instead of effectively being a tenant.
  5. I would say treat them as what they are - a product of their time with sentimental significance. Build them as intended with maybe the odd embellishment but don't try to make super detail models out of them.
  6. Very true, but there had to be a limit somewhere lol
  7. Know exactly where you are coming from there - and helping users move away from "the old ways" is very painful! "What do you mean I can't install a game on my pc for lunchtime use any more?" "I've always had local admin so I can do stuff without bothering you" and so on...
  8. Hmm, Brentwood bank is quite steep, no? Would this look out of place shoving an N7 with Quints? Probably. Would be cool though...
  9. Don't forget to allow time for the stay alive capacitors to charge before trying to start the loco.
  10. Or just shove it out the way? 🙃
  11. Hmm, I didn't spot the cctv, would have nicked that to stop my secret getting out :(
  12. From the title I was going to suggest Roxey but then I read your post. I've assembled a few Roxey bogies - what difficulties are you experiencing? I know the spring dampers can break of quite easily but not had any other issues.
  13. I am a simple soul. Happy to have a short length of track, start a 37 up, spin the wheel to the max, listen to the throbbing roar, spin the wheel back to zero. Reverse direction and repeat. I did NOT get much work done today.
  14. Siphoning something anyway...
  15. Let's say they did - how many returns would they see because the colour didn't match the several year old model that's been sitting in the sun all this time? I can't see them doing it (even though I'd buy one of the current ones to go with the 1930s condition one I have on order).
  16. Easy - just put "L@@K!!!! R@RE!!!!" in the title. Instant inclusion.
  17. At least one of the lots had 17 viewers (mostly from here?). Seems to have worked 😅🙃😜
  18. Mine arrived today, and I know others have also had theirs as mentioned in the main Accurascale thread. It's a real thing of beauty. Without the small yellow ends of 6703 it looks that little bit stealthy. Until you open the throttle. One of the headcode box covers is a touch loose but the pins are intact so a teeny dab of glue n glaze will sort that. Well worth the wait.
  19. Very interesting - I've seen these kits on ebay but not up close as it were. Thank you for sharing, including the all important back story to them.
  20. There's an idea - bit of tippex and no 1 is in da house!
