  1. It survives to this day at Mangapps :) I presume you meant survived in service?
  2. GER opens of some kind - don't mind which as long as it was something built in good numbers :)
  3. I recently used a bus to get to and from Stansted - made use of the £2 thing that our tax money is subsisiding. Journey out was fine, but the return there was either one that was early or didn't turn up as I was at the stand on time, but nothing appeared, then 40 minutes after the next one was due, it finally turned up, and the driver announced that due to the late running would terminate earlier in the route. Fortunately my stop was ok. So not exactly a great advert for using a bus. I hear an awful lot of stories that follow the same pattern.
  4. Not ebay but I had a package from Slaters go walkies - there was no information on the tracking at all, it simply said would update when delivery attempted. Long story short - new neighbours had it delivered in error, and passed it to the old neighbours with other items, then they passed it to me. If unscrupulous could probably claim for it being lost in the post.
  5. Floyd Kraemer now has a website to order their 3D prints: https://fk3d.co.uk/ And for 7mm modellers, with the kind assistance of the Great Eastern Railway Society (and my badgering!/), 15 spoke "Buckjumper" wheels are now available: Used on shunting locos, they were unbalanced and a slightly longer stroke - hence the joggled rods on the Connoisseur kit.
  6. Bachmann have done it for a 47 so I am confident that Accurascale could nail it 🙂
  7. Ah from the previously unreleased "Carry on Johnson" film? They thought they could manage without Barbara Windsor by having one big t*t bouncing around instead of two?
  8. There's a pub near me that I went into once - and only once. Whole room went quiet apart from one gravelly voice - "They've not been in here before".
  9. Or just "Park" - https://www.networkrail.co.uk/running-the-railway/our-routes/anglia/improving-the-railway-in-anglia/beaulieu-station/ I estimate it will be 50 years since a North Chelmsford station was first promised when it finally opens - and not for those it was promised to but the residents of legoland Beaulieu.
  10. Something the company I used to work for never learned. They preferred to send someone round the world with piles of parts and get them to finish building a machine in the client's factory to ensure they made delivery deadlines, then wondered why the clients got the hump with having a half built machine turn up and so went to a competitor. The same company that would start a new machine's serial number at 10 so clients didn't know they had the pre-production version. The same company that would change the serial number on a returned machine and sell it as new.
  11. I was working for a selective soldering company at the time it was becoming a thing. Yes it works, but boy did we have to do a LOT of work to get it to work reliably. I think a fair few new expletives were invented during that time. Give me leaded every time.
  12. Looking good :) I have found that attaching whitemetal bogie sides to the brass frame is a doddle with my RSU - I don't even use low-melt, just tin the brass with the usual stuff, slap some flux on, give the whitemetal a srub to remove oxidisation and then hold the two bits together and run the probe over the inside surface of the brass on quite a high setting (depending on the thickness of the whitemetal).

    Oxford N7

If you are modelling it as preserved you'll need an extra one (apologies it's fuzzy :( ) I thought the worksplate on an N7 was on the bunker but if it was on 69621 it wasn't when I took these photos about 10 years ago
  14. As I have 2 kits in the "to do" pile it's pretty much a certainty.
  15. Is your solder lead free? If so, get hold of some real stuff - hobby holidays for example sell it.
  16. Not mentioned yet is Coffman clamp that Branchlines sell. https://www.coffmaneng.com/shop
  17. Damned if you do, damned if you don't... You're pushing the boundaries on what DCC can do, and getting moaned at for it despite offering best in class support. Keep up the good work guys :)
