  1. I gather the change of usage has come about cos they unload the load at a different part of Mossend Yard these days and there's not the access to the Overheads where there was previously where they came in to the Euroterminal ... so the 66s are more practical in that sense .. added to the reliability of the 90s in the months leading to the Carstairs work where there were a number of failures ... at those points on the network where the DB90s seem to choke sadly ... Beattock and Shap being notable points ...
  2. So, what's Backbone up to then ? you lost me a little there ...
  3. tomorrow ? 😢 They're very much alive in my modelling world ... we're moving WHM cleaner, greener and quieter ... as opposed to dirtier and noisier - if Freightliner can manage to operate the same locos on the same lines without any of the problems DB have faced, surely, the answer is find out what they do to keep theirs purring ... surely, they wouldnt have to save face too much ...
  4. Its my understanding that they have borrowed GBRf 92s on HS1 in some capacity in times gone by, it makes sense to have one fresh 92 into the pool so the EWS beasties liveried 92s can be taken out, repainted (which takes a few weeks to do) and any maintenance done without impacting the service.
  5. Probably only when being bussed back and forth by a 66, 67 or the only remaining DB90 in service, Backbone branded 90039 on the moves like the below:
  6. Are the Polo Mints easily removed on the Grey 92s ? Just pondering a future GBRf 92, 92044 Couperin ..
  7. email Bachmann perhaps ... and when you get a response ... pop it here ... so we all know ... Kat Johnson Street IEMD
  8. In relation to my query about Bachmann 90 sound chips from the later 90s going into earlier ones ... I queried this also with Bachmann as well, to which I received the following response, thank you Shaun: here were some differences in the settings on the decoders from the 2021 models when compared to the decoders in the 2019 models. As a result, you can only use a 2021 decoder in a 2019 model if you were to change the settings on the decoder. You would first need to ensure that the following CVs are set to these values: CV 31 to a value of 16 CV 32 to a value of 0 After those CVs have been successfully changed, there are 4 further CVs that would also need to be set: CV 362 to a value of 11 CV 366 to a value of 11 CV 367 to a value of 10 CV 368 to a value of 51 Making those CV changes would allow the 2021 decoder to be used in a 2019 model. It’s also worth noting that if the decoder is ever reset, the CVs would revert to their default 2021 values so you would then need to change them to these values again.
  9. Recently I posed a question here about DCC chips for the 90s and thank you @andyman7 around what chip I would need to put into a 2021 EWS 90030 - the 36-569A was acquired and is now in 90031. I now find myself asking a similar question about the sound chip in from a 2021 onwards 90, can that work in one of the earlier 90s ? or if not, probably, it would go into the Bachmann Collectors club 32-616 DB90 - 90028 I imagine ?
  10. DB Cargo loco move this morning, 10th June 2023, from Crewe IEMD to Toton, featuring Class 90, 90039, Class 92, 92029 and Class 325 EMU, dragged by EWS liveried Red Shed, 66063.
  11. I get what you are saying ... Johnson Street IEMD is as much a diarama as it is a working layout, a little like Crewe IEMD i guess, with all those stored DB90s . 90031 is the first but not the last like this :-)
  12. Sooo, another Squirrel Rail piece of Wizardry has arrived at it's home ... a Bachmann Class 90 like very few others ... ecquisite detail but one to look good and yet not do much else ...
  13. This morning 90031 has arrived at his new resting place, with the assistance of DB yard mate 66065, having had the necessary wizardry from @railtec-models to create the artwork to replicate as near to what 90031 actually looks like now. Thank you Steve. It was then the turn of Jerry @Squirrel Rail to create a significant aged look inspired by the actual example but not necessarily every blemish - the 90 in my world would likely have worked more so would be less aged now :-). Thank you so much to both of you for making this come to life or rather to fruition with one of DB Cargo's long term storage Class 90 examples, 90031 in "tired or eternally sleeping" state faded EWS branding. The intention is not to run 90031 as such and it may be the case that further example(s) of the German TOC come to rest more at Johnson Street IEMD in the future. After all, there are a number of classes at Crewe like this, not just 90s. 90031 had originally joined my loco fleet last year but it was never my intention to have him in the new @KMS Railtech look. This would be appropriate for modellers modelling the era of EWS. My era is very much up to the minute and whilst i want the legacy liveries to sometimes show a presence as they do at Toton, Crewe Electric Depot and Warrington Arpley, the main colour here is Red. From where 90031 will reside he will just about be able to see the electrification of the headshunt line and will probably see other DB90 and 92 classmates brought to the shed for maintenance and as the final details are completed on the layout some further weeds may pop up along here. @Andy7
  14. Sooo, is there a chip for this second wave different to that of the first one then ?
  15. Quick question folks, is the chip which goes into the second batch of Class 90s different to that of the first generation ? so a chip going into an EWS 90030 - 32-619 ... in effect ... or one just like it ?
  16. that was in 2008 ... but not much has changed bar DB and Freightliner 90s on intermodals
  17. 90028 and 90026 bringing back 92015 back to Crewe IEMD. having done so several days prior bringing back 92042 as well. The DB90s would later depart Crewe bound for Mossend via Arpley and Carlisle Yard ahead of a likely return to action on MALCOLM doing it Cleaner Greener and Quieter, i'm expecting them to be back on 4M25 on Monday
  18. 92015 and 92011 are able to run under their own on the WCML ... 92015 below out on test between Crewe IEMD and Crewe.
  19. Yes, of course, there's never been more electric traction of a premium form, 85, 86, 87, 90, 91, 92, 350, 390 and this will likely increase with the 88, 93, 99, 88, the Drift EMUs and others
  20. Yep, there or thereabouts, folk say that there is too much variation of structures etc, isnt there in Europe also ? and they have been making model OLE for decades? to scale and true to form ... ironically, its likely they'll be making our OLE for us
