  1. okay and which insulators have you been using ? @97406 I have some from nBrass and some laser printed ones, but they just arent compatible size wise. I gather there are different size ones that nBrass do, and Sommerfeldt do some as well ...
  2. I have gone for the Blueflash90 portals but am in the process of sourcing cantilevers elsewhere, along with some scratchbuilding once i get some workspace configured.
  3. A big thank you to Youtuber Phil Clarke who has allowed me to share his footage of the YIWU 92, 92015 out on test between Crewe IEMD and Crewe station earlier this week ... it went back down to Wembley on Friday with DB90, 90035 on 0A06. There's a further three clips of this on my YT - interestingly, they didnt switch pantos to the trailing one for the journey back - i wonder why :-)
  4. It's my understanding that DB's 92s are currently only permitted to run between Crewe and Wembley ... i don't believe they are permitted to run on the third rail yet as well ..
  5. Layout update The layout project has had to go a little slower tthan forst thought at the start of the year mainly due to having a lowsy chest infection which wore me down. The plan to go out and buy insulators to start scratchbuilding registration arms also had to be put on hold till Mid-february at the earliest with them not being available - I imagine the making tracks team had to snap up a good few for mt3. The year has also seen some unexpected good and bad news for the traction of choice at Johnson Street with the DBC Dysons getting modified to again be able to run on the WCML between Crewe and Wembley, with 92011 being the first of the Class to be modified. It's understood that the 90s however may about to be finding themselves on the operational fringes with their use being postponed due to the coming together of several detracting aspects: 1 - increasing electricity costs once again 2 - A number of recent failures by the Class on their main work with WHM. 3 - A strategic change to the arrival of trainsets into Mossend where there are no wires. In a world where operational effectiveness is everything, this is a bit ominous for the Class, hopefully a solution can be found. With this in mind, I mocked up what a busy yard at Johnson Street IEMD if the 90s weren't out on WHM. There'd still be other operators electric traction coming over for specialist repairs as per 90043 in the foreground. Note, the Skodas setback hasn't dampened my enthusiasm 😀 but it's not what I wanted to be hearing (from a source)..
  6. You got a right collection of Dyson's there ... i am certainly loving this one below and can't wait for this to arrive at Johnson Street, possibly, eventually with either 92042 or 92036.
  7. They're the business !!! Imagine if someone made them for the RT-attach market 😳
  8. The DB90s back out on Malcolm as of yesterday following the re-opening of the line after engineering works were undertaken to repair the a section of embankment damaged by flood waters, between Carlisle and Glasgow. 90020 and 90026 90035 and 90039
  9. Its still up for grabs, got about an hour left at 250 quid https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175541830900?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160811114145%26meid%3D00c6a3f46e72423a8cbf896421ef8d17%26pid%3D100667%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D175541830900%26itm%3D175541830900%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2351460&_trksid=p2351460.c100667.m2042
  10. For those interested, there's a sound fitted DB class 92 on ebay now for #250 quid on an auction listing but caution ... there's also some DCC ready examples on there for the cost of a sound fitted one ...
  11. It's rather amusing this video .. will we see them release another video in two or three years saying ''watch this space'' after yet another new promising loco arrival like the Class 88, the 93 or perhaps the 99 ... arrives ? and whilst yes, the Accurascales Class 92 may be the newest arrival to this sector of the marketplace, it's the Bachmann 90 that's the most significant of the two, given the 90's more prominent place on the real world network, as opposed to the 92, which, aside from the sleeper service, are barely seen.
  12. DB are back to three pairs of Class 90s on MALCOLM this week Bill McAlpine (90028) and CB Hall (90035) in matching DB red Donald Malcolm (90021) and Christine (90037) Bumblebee1 (90026) and Bumblebee3 (90020) - first pairing to operate in matching ex-Grand Central from last night's (9th December 2022) 4S47
  13. Even though I am a follower and modeller with a specialism towards the Skodas, i do regularly see Class 92s and do have a soft spot for them, I did have three EWS beasties Class 92s, 2 x Hornby and 1x Lima - and I am planning to have several Accurascales Class 92s, predominantly in DB, as I am modelling a modern electric traction depot scene - i have created a playlist of the 92s I have seen out and about: Video Number 11 is one of my favourites
  14. 4th December 2022 Having determined the specialist glue wasn't giving me what I needed - a quick visit to Tesco to get some superglue gave me the outcome that days of patience hadn't paid off
  15. Yes, and there is another - username adca-3942 - who when watching several as I have - have been offered a sound fitted 92 for #265 - i am contemplating a counter offer lol ... for 92042 - but agree it does sound to be too good to be true ... but the 1331 transactions aspect of their ebay history make it look reasonable. They also have examples of the sold out GBRf liveries, it's funny that the GBRf ones are the popular ones, isn't it ? Note these are for pre-order ... not as in they have them already
  16. i am more optimistic about yours lasting the course, than the one I've just got but we'll see how this one behaves Kat :-)
  17. I have not heard anything yet but I am trying some more of ebayer blueflash90s OLE instead ..
  18. Are you going to renumber the second and third into Multimodal and 90035 ? Kat
  19. Knitting lessons - page two Whilst out for an extended lunchtime today in what could only be described as a crisp, fresh but bright mid November in Stafford, an opportunity to study the heavy gantry at the North end of Stafford Station, one which is going to feature as part of the Johnson Street IEMD OLE plan. I'd gone to catch the DB90's movement down to Daventry DIRFT following the failure of 90029 and 90034 at DIRFT and Mossend respectively - this movement later ended up being cancelled, https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:R47813/2022-11-25/detailed yes 4M25 went past on schedule, 90020 leading 90037: but the chance to do some OLE studying was not to be missed. A big thank you to Ebayer blueflash90 - for the gantry, its going to become a great showpiece on the layout and in time stand out less with the Skodas, Dysons and other traction stealing the show. Here and now, the raw materials of the gantry pictured below and also the actual gantry showing where both the contact wire and catenary wire go - we may gave to scratchbuild some of the wires as well but at least we now in detail what we are working towards.
  20. 23rd November 2022 The advent of my layout returning home following the sad passing of good WCML and model Rail enthusiast Ian Rae in September known to some here as amertonman, has seen my OLE plans changing somewhat. The original plan was to be using nBrass and whilst this may still feature in some capacity, the main catenary sections are here and now going to be using ebay innovator blueflash90 whose catenary is available on ebay currently. Tonight, having had my shipment of OLE and with Bill McAlpine (90028) in attendance I have mocked up how the new OLE will be positioned potentially. Given this is a Christmas present, I may not fully assemble this till then .. or not .. we shall see The cantilevers will mirror the OLE seen immediately outside Crewe IEMD which is the inspiration for the layout. 21. Good work Craig ... I haven't bought one yet ... i just cant make my mind up as to which one is coming first ... originally, it was the YIWU DB one, 92015, more recently, it was the EWS Beasties one, Bertolt Brecht 92036 ... now, i am leaning towards 92042 in DB Schenker ... with a @Squirrel Railweathering .. Johnson Street will, in time, be choca block with Skips, Sheds, Skodas, Dysons, the occasional Tug and a Gronk.
  22. I don't think they actually use them at all anymore ... DB's 92s use to, in the south east ... but because they are no longer permitted to, they aren't and GBRf's 92s, dont ever seem to get there ... ironically, DB's 92s cross over those parts on the way to Dollands i gather ... correct me if i am wrong there
