Looks like a Weaver tank drive. Note that if that is the newer CLW motor, it should have a skewed armature; that allows for smoother low-speed operation because of less cogging of the armature.
Not really wacky, but this sign was put up (in perfect shape) on Monday 21oct19 or Tuesday; Friday morning it looked like this:

I never really had any problems with them; but I worked fore the public transit agency in Ft. Lauderdale and had dealings with a wide variety of folks. Plus, we had a way for dealing with unruly passengers:
The shaft just needs to be re-installed in the u-joint and then the copper strip put back under the steel(?) piece rising up from the truck. Should be good to go then. And maybe clean the commutator and re-seat the brushes.
