  1. There are a number of large used book dealers (at least here on ebay us) that I have dealt with; betterworldbooks (my favorite), thrift.books, and a couple more. All have performed very satisfactorily. Most of mine ring up at $3.99 or so with "free" shipping and an added 15% or so discount if one buys three or more books.
  2. Humor in frozen Rochester, NY!
  3. It took me a few moments to get this one! At least until I looked more closely.
  4. Don't most people call a plumber and have one installed??
  5. A lot of thought and "imagineering" went into that. I am impressed.
  6. Neutral feedback has no effect on one's feedback rating (it is, after all, "neutral"), at least on ebay US.
  7. Some straight-up, unadulterated orange juice.
  8. From the listing: "Excellent - appears to have been lightly run, there are two missing buffers. " Hmmm, that one would fit right in, all of my locomotives are "missing their buffers"!
  9. I have always thought that Bud should be poured back into the horse.
  10. No B. S: I once saw a Krispy Kreme delivery truck pulled over on I-85 by a NC state trooper. By the time I realized what was going down, I was past the scene!
  11. I am guessing that there is/are intermediate gear(s) between the driven axle and the second axle? Quote: "This project hasn't yet got any prototype to base it on or any vague inspiration let alone a chosen name, for now its just a matter of getting it running then i can think about what its going to be." Was it common (or not?) for an industry/mine/whatever i the UK to homebuild a loco out of scrounged parts? It was here especially among loggers; some really neat "devices" were produced. Note that some did not resemble anything conventional!! But they did the job that they were designed (using the term loosely) for. Use you imagination here, let it run wild.
  12. I would have thought of London myself! Note that I have no real experience as the closest to the UK that I have been is about 35,000 ft over the south of France on the way back to NYC from Athens.
  13. Another visitor to my yard: It is an Eastern Garter Snake, a nice snake to have around.
  14. Speaking of "missing" packages, this one is "still on its way" as of 07aug19! Note that Greensboro, NC is about 100 miles from Chester, SC. Tracking History 9536 1122 5169 9115 5525 32: May 2, 2019 In Transit, Arriving Late Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. 15. Here it is called "caller id spoofing"; a friend once got a call from his own number!
  16. Hmmm, I caught that too (the drain cocks) but then wondered if British Diesels were built differently from US Diesels??? Anyway, I note that the depressed-center flat is riding on US arch-bar trucks! NB: I just read this for the first time today and I like it.
  17. That was common over here for transit properties but only on the rear axle, front tires were not re-treads. A majority did "rent" the tires as the supplier did all of the tire work; mounting, balancing, installing on the buses, etc. The only exception may have been emergency road calls, depending on the contract with the supplier.
  18. Sounds ok to me. Is that a two-way street?
  19. It appears to be on the wrong side of the street to me, at least based on the majority of the cars parked there; especially if the doors are on the opposite side of the bus from the driver. Or someone just set the sign there for a gag shot!
  20. I am not sure what kind of bird this one is but he (she?) would not stand still long enough or come any closer: And this little guy was on my porch railing this afternoon:
  21. I would put Halsey up against any of those mentioned above (well, except Fisher, different category entirely); and that is even allowing for even allowing for the "Battle of Bull's Run."
  22. Not a real plane (at least on the jacket front) but the artist got a lot right on the drawing of the plane: Rear cover: Note that it is not my type of music, but I just had to get the album for the jacket artwork.
