  1. Where did you get the idea it was a sound decoder? Its a bog standard 6 pin decoder and not even a very good one at that.
  2. Hasn't been mentioned and unfortunately Rapido's track record of including suitable solder pads for stay alive on their Next18 fitted models suggests it won't be a simple addition. Thankfully more decoders now have the ability to directly connect to stay alives instead of sticking strictly to the Next18 spec and requiring the connections to be made on the PCB side.
  3. If its a V5 DCC (the US version and commonly used in factory installs) then CV5 and 6 should work as normal for a 3 point speed curve. If its a normal V5 (most likely if its a 3rd parties sound) then 3 point speed curves aren't available and you'll need use a complex speed curve.
  4. Could always get a 21pin to 8pin adapter simply to stick a Hornby decoder in and prove to them it still kills their own decoders. But as mentioned above, most likely a tiny whisker of solder is bridging the pickup and motor pins on the socket.
  5. One thing to remember, the more people decide to just keep the dodgy ones instead of returning them the easier it is for Dapol to say the issues only impact a small number of the models. If every single dodgy one was returned to the manufacturer they'll be a lot more likely to do something about it.
  6. First thing to try is make sure DC running is disabled via CV29.
  7. If I'm reading DecoderPro correctly, CV64 should be brightness for the lights. Says the range is 0-30 and the default seems to be 6. Are the interior lights on a dedicated function? If so which output are they on? Just realised above post says they are on AUX3. I think you will also need to set CV53 to 44 to activate the dimmer on that function output.
  8. After careful consideration and discovering the single pack Conflat-P I thought was fine also actually has the funky shorting issue I think I'd like to get them all properly fixed, should I just do another warranty form on the site?
  9. Done, I've forward you the original email. Thanks.
  10. Is anyone actually monitoring the support email in the manual for these? I sent an email about an issue on the 9th May and got the automatic reply but since then, nothing.
  11. Are the lights working in the correct direction on DC?
  12. The Android app ever actually appear for these?
  13. I could probably fix it with glue and patience but at normal viewing angles when running its not really noticable so its low priority. And I really can't be bothered packing them up to post again 😀
  14. For anyone that cares, the wagons came back repaired from Rapido this weekend. Sheet says the bearings were replaced. Impressed with the speed of the warranty service at least but the wagons were a little hamfistedly put back in the box and all 3 of them now have broken brake rigging so that kinda sucks.
  15. Anyone had any issues reading the factory fitted decoder on the sound version (deluxe if it matters) with a lokpgrammer while still in the loco? Mine seems to get as far as identifying the decoder then gives up and falls back to reading CV's individually. Remove the decoder from loco and put it in a tester and the lokprogrammer reads it fine. Loco otherwise works fine.
  16. Hope the N gauge version of Felix (and the rest of that batch) turns up sometime soon, ideally with all handrails ;)
  17. Should just be bog standard directional lights on F0 without any configuration required. Decoder the right way round?
  18. After queuing for an hour and finally getting in I have to say the conference centre is just too small a venue for a show. Especially with the huge chunk of the museum closed for refurb.
  19. Possibly a stupid question but where exactly is the conference centre? Is it just a room inside the main museum or is it another building? Been to the NRM loads of times and honestly never noticed any signage for a conference centre....
  20. Already done, just chancing my arm to see if there was anything I could do myself :)
  21. The wagon's cause the short with nothing else on the track. Haven't tried on DC. Its an intermittent short and mostly replicable by wiggling the wagons on the track.
  22. What sort of test meter? I have a multimeter but minimal knowledge of what all the settings on it actually do. Track is currently just a Unitrack oval, no turnouts or anything as yet. Edit: With the power of Google I figured out how to do a continuity test with my multimeter. Best I could manage was 2 axles out of the 6 (its a triple pack) don't seem to be properly isolated but the meter only really noticed when the probes were pretty much jammed into the bearings.
  23. Finally getting around decoder fitting my latest N gauge stuff and noticed my conflat-p's seem to be randomly shorting on DCC. Any ideas what I should be checking?
  24. I think to stand much chance of a June delivery they need to already be on the boat.
