  1. Hornby announced today, “Bolstering its 2022 new tooling steam locomotive announcements, its existing tooling will be put to good use, reappearing in new guises thanks to additional liveries. Its LMS 0-6-0 4F will appear as No. 43924 (R30221) with an RRP of £139.99, its LB&SCR 0-6-0 ‘Terrier’ will be released in all-over departmental black as D.S.680 (R30122) with an RRP of £120.99, and its BR M7 0-4-4T is to appear in Malachite with British Railways in Gill Sans yellow lettering as 30244 (R30140). This locomotive and 30038 were painted in the livery soon after Nationalisation, hence gaining a distinct appearance. The model will carry an RRP of £193.99. Joining these locomotives and remaining in the Southern Region is SR ‘Merchant Navy’ 4-6-2 21C1 Channel Packet, re-introduced in Southern Malachite green with yellow stripes (R3434) with an RRP of £223.99, plus Battle of Britain Class 4-6-2 34072 257 Squadron (R30129) and West Country Class 4-6-2 34046 Braunton (R30114), each with an RRP of £266.49.” Here Looking forward to seeing Braunton. Shame no new smoke gen. As on the other noted models. Off the top of my head I don’t think either 257 or Braunton visited the North Cornwall Line so I may be keeping my wallet in my pocket! cheers Ade
  2. Nice work Jeff looking now to subscribe! Found Linky for others to quickly find it
  3. Hi Jay, I wouldn’t bother, it was an experiment that is not a success. It’s proplex builders floor protection sheet. As only £4.10 for an 8x4 sheet. But the lines from the make up of corrugated cells show on the surface once in position. I think probably white MDF thin sheet is the way forward.
  4. The ground under the viaduct and bare backscene through the arches are the only thing that detracts. All 3 images top drawer stuff.
  5. Trying to visualise that CK, following on Callow so will see it there no doubt. I couldn’t think of a way without support. My offering below Backscene just sits in a slot between scenery and support frame. Though the support frame has a dual purpose to support hidden track bed. Good work Rob BTW.
  6. Those not on Twitter. Would be spot on! “& upstairs, a peek into Brunel’s vast old trainshed, currently closed pending surveys & conservation work. Following recent reacquisition by @networkrail, finally this remarkable structure -an experimental machine almost as much as architecture - may get the attention it needs.”
  7. Another vote for Bath & West Showground Shepton Mallet. No idea of cost mind. But local bike and car clubs put stuff on there so can’t be too prohibitive. A shuttle bus from Castle Cary station literally 3 miles away as Mr Evis does for Glastonbury Festival (Site a few fields away) your sorted, it’s whether the main hall is big enough!
  8. Merry Christmas Tom, and thanks for the inspiration this year. Here’s to the new layout in 2022 it’s sure to be a cracker. Cheers Ade.. P.S. the scene you created above is marvellous.
  9. Spun the board around to build the backscene support and NG track bed behind the backscene. Next I built the track base behind the backscene and covered with foam board. Soldered up some droppers on the the 009 track! Blimey that’s small to 00! New soldering iron though is a revelation. Track down first L&B train ran on some permanent track. Need to cut the track now for the lift out section then get the backscene in so I can spin it back around the right way and get it back in the corner where it belongs. More soon I hope! Cheers for looking in.
  10. The extended board I decided was to unwieldy so was cut. The incline over the SG tunnel will now not be needed so offered some timber to get an idea of things.
  11. Then I thought rather late in the day! It has to be said ! Best try out my untried theory of running the NG line from quayside up to the tunnel mouth exit over the standard gauge. oh dear even with a helix I don’t think it will work. I do have video but suffice to say with a coach I had to drop it to an inch over about 5ft for the MW 009 to pull just one coach. Plan b is a vertical transverser if I can make it work off scene.
  12. Below the tunnel lining on the main line portal needed to be installed, so I could see where I could drop the NG track bed down to. As I see a need for a reduced incline to give the L&B loco a chance! Out with the cereal packet cardboard and using a spare portal as a guide a shape was cut and fitted into the Lellizzick portal, the bend was stapled at the top overlap. Holding to shape was providing to be a nightmare to stick the stone paper lining into it. So I made a Heath Robinson jig to hold it and painted PVA on in a hope it will retain a bit of shape to stick the lining paperstone to. PVAed the inside of the cardboard in a desperate attempt to get it to hold its shape. It actually worked so happy with that. Then uhu glued the printed stone paper on it. Now I’ve realised I need to ballast that bit of track while access is good before installing the tunnel lining! Oh the joys still it’s heading in the right direction each bit is a bit closer to the end goal. Painted and ballasted the track. 50/50 Pva glued it then realised it need ballast up to the tunnel walls! Track laid and ballasted in the Mike Buick @scoobyramanner. Paint ballast paint all in acrylics. Notice now the paper lining joint in the tunnel is far from perfect so needs addressing. Those moulding pips are a pain to get rid of hadn’t spotted the one on the keystone! Tried both a file and a knife without great success.
  13. The position I originally thought was right for the 009 portal to exit through the backscene Then thinking I needed more hillside above the SG tunnel I think moving it back half a foot looked potentially better.
  14. From code 100 to code 75 from left Meldon Board to the quay board straight into a tight radius curve but it works after trialing it. Mocking up the supports for the 009 above. It’s been done so many times it’s difficult to be original with the narrow gauge tunnel portal above a standard gauge one. Trying different positions to work out where the supporting woodwork ought to go. Not sure I said above so this may be a repeat the narrow gauge will enter the tunnel and disappear through the backscene to reappear further along the extended board.
  15. Then time to get an idea of the track plan. The rear line will be the through running line on a small embankment like that in the photos of the layout I screenshot the images of above lost the link to it now! Then the storage/ narrow gauge transfer sidings? Maybe a little NG engine shed although that could be low relief as a scene entry RHS, the fremington signal box l quite like too. Maybe another track left of the NG track time will tell.
  16. Time to update here! Chris @2ManySpamsasked over on WT What’s the plan. I need to rough out some track but I’m hopeful it will feature some 009 L&B. It’s basically a scenic storage yard. But the inspiration is a north of the border layout on RM name of which escapes me and Fremington Quay.
  17. Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to you and your family Rob, excellent modelling skills always on show in your thread here. I don’t know how you find time to read all the replies here never mind reply to many! I had to drop to one notification a day otherwise my emails go mental! Great stuff here though always good humoured and supportive. You intending to go to Edington? We may be in lockdown so maybe not! Cheers Ade
  18. Much Better I thought the same QE2 sizing. Think SMS do some much smaller ones, you’ll probably bodge some of your own if you put any back. Less is more though I think. Excellent video too. An enjoyable watch. Cheers
  19. Have a lovely Christmas right back to you Tom. Every success with the sales of those items. Cheers
  20. Mighty fine view that Jeff, the track the vegetation looks spot on, a great view low down like that. cheers.
  21. Looks pretty darn good Mike, That last MPD pic. You can tell is going to ooze atmosphere when done. Well it does now in its present condition. Can see why you had many an offer to build a commissioned version. Hope your doing ok? Cheers Ade
  22. Looks alright to me just like you describe it.
  23. in particular the layout itself! That does surprise me Tom, thought that wouldn’t of hung around long! Is it advertised elsewhere? Cheers Ade
  24. No sorry needed Alex was just pointing that for me I couldn’t see it very short hand I admit! Thanks Rob for the screenshot. indeed a grand photo, looking forward to it if Covid19 is on the backseat again. Cheers.
