  1. Enjoy your books. Pop a snap up of them so we can share in your delight.
  2. Brilliant Tom hope you had an enjoyable Birthday and splashed out on yourself.
  3. Liking the techniques you are using on the polystyrene. What glue are you using to stick the polystyrene together? Cheers
  4. You were/are a great influence and encouraging fellow modeller during this thread, brilliant piece of modelling there’s no doubt. I can see your reasoning and can only support your decision. shame I didn’t live closer to Yorkshire I’d snap your hands off! Good luck with the sale. Cheers Ade
  5. Hi Rob nice to see some modelling, the DAS looks pretty wet is that as it came out the packet or have you added an agent to assist? and for flatness that looks spot on what was your tool of choice to achieve that. Cheers Ade
  6. Hi Graham new poster here but lurked a while! Big step scrapping the lot! I’m on a 3rd start but the others haven’t been scrapped they are just in waiting! The smooth running is the key and wired and working well before doing anything else I’ve found. The foam/cork base I don’t think makes any difference to that I’ve seen folk run um straight on the timber top. Go away take a break do something else towards it. I’m surprised how I come up with ideas when I was at a dead end sometimes. I can’t help with your point actuation conundrum but I suggest don’t throw in the towel yet. Boiling water on the ballast will release its hold don’t be afraid to rip some out and have another bash at some bits of bad running track. I have faith like your thread. Cheers
  7. A wet Lake District!, Ravenglass I believe. Nice bit of steam though.
  8. Interesting those Stu I’ve been looking at those including the boats for my current project, quality and sharpness look pretty good. Hope they paint up nice. cheers Ade
  9. Bit more done, well a lot more done but unless you were studying the woodwork closely it doesn’t show up! the curve was an off cut of a previous baseboard so seemed a shame not to use it up! Runs short so a lap joint was made to accommodate the next piece of baseboard. Cheers.
  10. So a milestone in the build was reached 47 days and 42 pages into the thread. The scenics we’re started! Platforms don’t count! Great stuff Andy enjoying this and the videos greatly and I’m a kettle fan!
  11. That’s a stand out image for me Tom. Nothing to give it away that I can see. Brilliant stuff. Cheers.
  12. Don’t log out! Thought actually you were always logged in Good to know though on the privacy button works for me, happy to click when I log in rather than be faced with those banners! Well one on the bottom was ok but not the recent downgrade!
  13. Very touching Tom, what a turn around and what a remarkable piece of modelling to mark your return to the top of model making. I hope financially you’re recovering too. I wish you every success with your continuing railway odyssey and writing about it. Also a window of sunshine showing positive outcomes are within reach for anyone suffering in similar ways. You are a great ambassador to the hobby. cheers Ade
  14. Enjoying the videos and this thread Andy inspired me on to building a new board/layout Made it a quay/wharf before you got going on your idea so that’s handy I’ll be picking up tips on your water install etc. The build is progressing at an amazing rate!
  15. The layout grew until May 2024 but was not completed. My Meldon Quarry sits in the Micro’s & Dioramas section ought to be here really, but it’s just track on a board to date! This is a new board to adjoin it. Until next time Cheers
  16. Liking the video you just posted @Tom Fcouldnt praise it there as you decided against comments on there. I get that on that platform! looks spot on.
  17. Looking good that great work, can’t wait to see what Tom does with it and then on the Scaca Fell Forestry Crossing layout.
  18. Tom top drawer stuff, read the whole thread over the last couple of days after Rob @NHY 581mentioned it. What a fantastic build you have achieved, so realistic like all of your work though! The photography is a credit to you too. Looking forward to more of your quest to build more of the railway. I’ll be also interested to see how the foam board holds up. cheers Ade
  19. That is rather marvellous for a few twigs a bit of out the box track, some stock and buildings . Great angle you’ve found. You probably said already but the beat up shed where would I find such an offering? Might have a spot for one! Cheers Ade
  20. Brilliant stuff Richard can sense your own personal satisfaction with the branch, looks very good enjoyed the video. Cheers Ade
  21. Love the pin sharpness of the last photo. Hit the follow..
  22. Excellent work Al, did I miss the oxy acetylene trolley or is that new? Green bottle though not red, so something other than acetylene? Great watching this come together. Cheers Ade
  23. Cheers all for the helpful replies I’m just designing the baseboards now so need is not immediate. Just wanted the track in stock ready but I’ll wait a bit and see how Wayne gets on bringing the 00 to market, the CL version given the detail @hayfielddescribes sounds interesting I’ll take a look. thanks for all the replies Ade
  24. TBH I assumed my period end of steam on the Withered Arm I.e. Southern west of Exeter was bullhead now having a scout at photos it appears to be flat bottom. Where does that lead us? cheers for the info Pete. Ade
