  1. Trying to locate a subscription to MRJ is not as easy as one would imagine. I read it’s only phone and snail mail which is absolutely fine. I just thought somewhere you could find send a cheque for X for 6 issues. l have found the address. But not an amount payable. I’d sooner not use news stand, I could use Thunderbolt but the P&P adds up and it’s an Xmas present so it doesn’t quite work. Unless MRJ direct is the same cost which I don’t know! Any help appreciated or I’ll phone on Monday. Cheers.. PS no dedicated MRJ website I’m guessing as it’s all paper and pen? Otherwise I’m sure Goofle would of turned it up.

All this deasial malarkey! £17.50 saving no connection usual disclaimer. Be nice wun it… You said you had a tiny regret of letting her go
  3. So so sorry to read of your wives passing Mike, what a shock. Hope your doing ok. I can only echo the thoughts of those who have already posted above. look after yourself. Ade
  4. Brilliant work Andy looks amazing and your speed to get to here also rapid! Very inspirational stuff. Cheers..
  5. Brilliant thread an what top notch modelling very inspirational. Just managed to complete reading the 26 pages over the last few weeks amazing creations on every page. Cheers for sharing. Ade
  6. DT your ironic comment was not lost on me! But I was happy to eat humble pie after all the positive comments. One now resides here at Lellizzick HQ. In fact trawling my bookmarks for 4mm 1:76 building suppliers I happened on a link to that very iron! I’d researched it before but totally forgotten. Yet to try it in anger though. I’ll report back when I’ve had a go with it. Cheers All.
  7. @Torper. I’m going to take your and many others advice and give one a go! It’s almost £100 less with extra tips than the DCC one I was looking to buy. Cheers all for the advice.
  8. Thanks all, the CSI seems to be up there in the satisfied modeller stakes. Thinking that’s way to go. Cheers.
  9. Indeed it is and mighty fine the box is looking. Cheers
  10. Thanks both, Ric great find re DCC one thanks for that. Also the one you have looks great value thanks also for that.
  11. Maybe a more detailed post tomorrow. But for now I leave this here. Cheers..
  12. Thanks for the info. Adrian and the handy link to Missenden . Another vote for the Hakko. Cheers
  13. Thanks John, Definitely heard of those. You’re right about those tips blacking! I also learned that brass wool is the magic ingredient to clean tips. Thanks for your input
  14. Thanks all for your replies I’ve done the Chinese route and it’s rubbish ages to heat up won’t keep heat when applied to much either NS rail or brass and you have to hang it in there for far to long for the solder to melt then the conduction of heat melts something you don’t want it to. Stated 48w be lucky if it’s 14 as someone said on my topic. So I want one that’s decent. Glad there’s a vote for the CS one and the Hakko one. Keep the opinions coming. Cheers.
  15. Not had a topic on this since March or November 2020 . Many of the links in those are now dead. Time moves on. Amex get mentioned a lot but I have also watched an apparent good video none biased I hope about the DCC concepts offerings. Here like the look of the £159.00 one but is that to much buck for what you’re getting? My old topic in 2018 Jon offered this! Yes I’ve been meaning to upgrade for some long time! “On Tony Wright’s topic a few solder stations have been discussed recently ( last couple of days). Solder stations cost more but give you the ability to control the temperature- so they are what you need if you want to solder white metal as well as brass. The current Antex one is in this link: https://cpc.farnell.com/antex/660a/soldering-station-analogue/dp/SD01909?mckv=sLE6qeuBW_dc|pcrid|224654335881|kword||match||plid||slid||product|SD01909|pgrid|50784539401|ptaid|pla-588765687098|&CMP=KNC-GUK-CPC-SHOPPING&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrdjnBRDXARIsAEcE5YkzAu0ZkqQ2w3oSRgZs7g_aFHXrDHIUm864BbCSlnD6be6HFxQh8MMaAn0EEALw_wcB And another one that was recommended is in this link: http://www.circuitspecialists.eu/soldering/soldering-stations/csi-premier75w-digital-temperature-controlled-solder-station-with-75w-soldering-iron/ Jon” 2nd link is broken but I believe it to be this Here any votes for either of those? Then in one of the many soldering iron topics here I picked up on this one https://www.hakko.co.uk/product/fx-888d-digital-soldering-station-blue-yellow/ looks a decent bit of kit? Anyone have any opinions on those or better recommendations? Cheers in advance. Ade
  16. Good to see you back Pete, excellent work on the box. Looks great well the two photos I can see. For some reason the first and last photos are not showing for me. I”m on an iPad so could be that. Cheers Ade
  17. Coming along lovely Andy. Particularly like the shot and the curves coming out of the tunnel. Cheers
  18. Looks spot on from your skilled build doubt it would if I built it. Most I’ve ever paid for a signal box was £6.00ish for a laser cut kit from intothegreenwood! Not a patch on the quality of York Modelmaking so I’m hardly qualified to comment. Great photos you shared of it.
  19. Looks ok Al, not a steamer though! Perhaps what with you and @NHY 581being led astray I’ll warm to it! Cheers
  20. Signal box looks excellent to me Jeff, paint job top drawer stuff to. Will it be distressed at all? Keep those pics coming. Cheers
  21. Coming along rather well Jon, I’d be pleased with it if that was my work. keep the pics coming! Cheers
  22. Interesting selection not heard of Boyd! I’m sorry to say but narrow gauge is new to me! more research required from me…. hope the last you a few evenings of reading. Cheers.
