Lenz Set 101 advice and experience sought
Ouroborus replied to dougidle's topic in DCC Help & Questions
I was in the same position. I liked my lenz, but trying to remember every cv became a pain. Lenz make some good stuff, but they need to move with the times. -
You're correct. They also pay per unit to dispose of the sharps bin. I wouldn't mind a few blades here and there and 'necessary' paperwork would be ignored, but if it became a lot or a regular thing, I'd be a little less sympathetic.

New video - Did Accurascale just announce a HAA?
Ouroborus replied to BR Blue's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Is there a problem? There seems an assumption that both models cannot survive. Also, that accurascale will provide the de-facto model. I wouldn't want to see either manufacturer put themselves at financial risk, but with such a common prototype, there seems the opportunity for both to exist and if a little bit of healthy competition drives standards upwards, this is surely a good thing? Time will tell, I'm sure both accurscale and cavalex have asked themselves a few questions. The hobby has been here before and it'll be here again. -
Here's hoping

The short answer to this is that none of us outside KRModels and their contractor are likely to know. Regards the problems experienced by them I quote you Charlie Petty on the 142 thread "and this Covid stuff is throwing a wobbler in at the moment." In a world where air pistols have sold out, plastic bags for horse manure carry a 4 month wait, if anyone can predict the future, a job for you in Whitehall awaits

"vague answers" is not particularly unique to KR Models at the moment is it?

Model Railway photography with an smart phone
Ouroborus replied to LBSC123's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Perhaps repeating what everyone else has said, but to get rid of the blur, reduce your aperture (higher f number), which you'll find in your phone's camera settings. Be warned, things will get darker. To make them lighter, reduce your shutter speed (the camera shutter stays open for longer), but you'll need to keep it very still -
You might be confusing decoders. With a switchpilot, you program the address for first output - the remaining three take sequential numbers. But, I'm also wondering if you're on the correct screen. I'd have to refresh myself, but you appear to be on the decoder screen for programming loco deocders. You want the accessories menu

"Hoverspeed" on YouTube has some extremely useful videos (a few years ago) on setting up ECoS including setting routes

Kernow have them in stock if you're looking. No connection....

One already winging its way from Coleford to South Wales - just try and stop it Boris!

What's the discount code?
-
I think that's a bit of a leap. More likely a production slot was booked and the demand outweighed the supply for this slot. As soon as they can get more slots, you'll get yours.

Me neither. My order is still showing as 'pending' on their website.

Is it possible to ask a member of this parish to 3d print you the part?
-
Pull the chip and put a blanking plug in to narrow down the problem

I was in the first 500 to order. My edition number is 1605

Mine arrived today. I don't think the ltd edition no tallies with order history. All seems ok, axle boxes in place. Like the box. TTS later

Good luck with that. The rest of the world is 649USD. The UK is 847USD. I think the amount and the quoted currency is far from a mistake. He must be a very bitter little man. Still, he/Germany might need all the money they can get soon.

New lighting recommendations for garage layout
Ouroborus replied to dube's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Haha, yes but I'm a little wiser now! I don't wish to come over as a Hue fan boy, but when I set the lights, I do blend them, ie, some may show red, some orange, some white, some warm white, some cold in order to get the condition that I want. (See pic). And that condition is set by the press of a button. I can change the condition to suit whatever time of day or feature I want to model and the bulb output may become more blue, more red etc. Whatever I want. At £50 per bulb, it's not a cheap option though! -
New lighting recommendations for garage layout
Ouroborus replied to dube's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Many thanks for this detailed explanation. I have a question from this. If the paint chosen does not fall into a gap not well covered, can the lamp(s) not be adjusted until it is? Like all the things, I guess it would depend on the quality of the bulbs. I fear the OP simply thought that my suggestion for smart bulbs was simply to have them turn on and off. This was not the case and I should have made it clearer. My suggestion for smart bulbs was to enable colours and intensity to be blended from the app which could then be used to simulate various times of the day on command. It would take effort to get it 'right', but once done, it's just a button press/voice command to call it up. Not all bulbs have this versitality, even within the Hue range, but the more expensive bulbs are all but infinitely adjustable -

I'm afraid you've lost me. What do you mean by continuous spectrum/spectrum shape? It's a genuine question, I don't understand. -

Or as I posted early, smart bulbs where the colour output can be changed -
You can't make an assumption like that.
