  1. Maybe Hornby decide on a production run that they are sure should sell, prior to the announcement. Then look at the subsequent pre-order numbers coming in to guage the viability of a second run in 2021, 2022, 2023
  2. Another thing to consider - insufficient supply for the preorders means the second hand (market value) rises, means the second run can command a higher price. The trick would seem to be to make just enough to satisfy demand, or failing that, make sure you don't wind up too many customers through failing to deliver their pre-orders. Once a customer starts to think 'what's the point of a pre-order?' you've got a problem.
  3. if you can still find it, Easy Model Railroad Inventory is tailor made freeware for exactly your purposes. Ver 8.5 is the latest i could find
  4. I think it'll be a pre-order thing. Hornby will make enough to satisfy demand plus a few over. As for second run - depends on how the first lot goes. A bit like DJM really - if you want one, time to put an order in.
  5. Joking aside, DJM models did provide some useful info to Hornby, not least the crowdfunder page showing what people actually stumped up cash for. All very well for expressions of interests, but these poor souls actually parted with cash and whilst they weren't in the tens of thousands, there would be useful information in what people want, how much they'd pay. Scale it up to include buyers outside of this parish, scale it up again because this model isn't crowd funded, scale it up again because of the Hornby brand. I wonder if Dave Jones got wind this was in the pipeline?
  6. a list of happy customers?

  8. accurascale exclusives. So, who's resisted so far?? I thought i had, now i haven't. https://accurascale.co.uk/blogs/news/network-rail-37-launches-accurascale-exclusives-range-of-special-editions?fbclid=IwAR1gNpihO6fEPNy01tHUpK2SI6FN71yWzLTHVODfdW9yLQ7Ml9ob6qwMM_I
  9. Seems two different things here. The OP says the sound and lights cut out. The other problem reported by 125driver is a return to idle
  10. Didn't Hornby do this with the Javelin though? A plastic wheeled, crudely coupled version
  11. I'd buy that. If Dapol can put smoke on a 59, here's hoping Hornby can add fire to a Hell Trains 800
  12. I guess two months is a long time. He's got one on his layout now. 18 seconds in.
  13. 166's are missing from the above list. GWR was slated and then pulled. An open goal missed.
  14. Just read on fb that its been delayed due to tooling changes to reflect disability access modifications on the real thing. Second half of 2020 now
  15. Cads are on Heljan Facebook page and the Heljan catalogue. Due late 2020
  16. Will you be making the cab interior as a spare so I can fit it into my triang?
  17. Its not "bad news". It didn't work first time, so you've had another try at making it work. I like that. It would have been easy to give up, but you didn't. Good for you. We can wait.
  18. I shouldn't share this, but the warley announcement is their own take on DCC sound with the 1970s class 37 being their first project. As we've come to expect from accurascale, their attention to detail is second to none. The truly authentic 1970s sound file features: F0 - strike action F1 - engine cold, not starting F2 - engine warm, not starting F3 - driver farting (low) (playable) F4 - driver farting (high) (playable) F5 - driver saying "the trouble with this country is" F6 - mildly racist comment F7 - very racist comment F8 - (footex) breaking windows F9 - (footex) riot (small) F10 - (footex) riot (medium) F11 - (footex) riot (large) F12 - (footex) riot (Millwall)
  19. I'm wondering if a split headcode all green might be a l/e/commission at some point. Certainly would have my order.
  20. Fran - slight variance on dcc ready price between subscribers email and this post.
  21. I think Kernow did quite well out of this thread! It sold me one too.
  22. There is a very detailed thread elsewhere on rmweb that lists the mazak problems of all manufacturers
  23. My wife doesn't have the same name as when she was a little girl, but she is much the same person underneath the bonnet
