  1. Food for thought here. I made an Impulse purchase of the NDM to strip the internals and use inside my.old Hornby model. But it seems so easy to connect up to the existing model (just a matter of swapping the couplings). Shame the colour is different. I think the least painful way will be a respray of the NDM cream into the blue grey that Hornby originally used. Might not be authentic, but probably the easiest for my skills.
  2. Its not something I'm overly bothered about, but it was HSBC that sent me a 'money out' notification. There hasn't been a 'money in' one (yet). Like i say, not too bothered, in many ways nice to get the painful part out of the way now.
  3. Are you sure about that? Just had £193 taken from my card
  4. Generally i like the program, but the 'mild peril', a feature of so many documentaries, gets tedious. Also, whilst I'm sure that SK is a lovely chap, i got the inclination of him trying to create a impression of Hornby that some off us see a little different. His 'we've got to get it right' and the 'nowhere near good enough' rang a little awkwardly with those of us who have some of their D&E stuff.
  5. You're absolutely right. Non-sound now gone. Like you, picked one up this morning. I'll drop this sound fitted one in case someone else wants it. D6700 also ordered while i was on a roll......
  6. I have sound fitted RSG in my basket right now. Non sound also seems available to be ordered.
  7. "John's family couldn't wait to flog his collection and are planning a Caribbean cruise trip to the Isle of Wight with the proceeds".
  8. Can the cv for motor control not be modified in the non sound chip to add a delay? An extra £110 for another sound chip seems steep given you've already paid for a non sound chip.
  9. Just sticking with the anglicised version, why is it pronounced with an 'uth' rather than an 'outh'?
  10. I was staying at the campsite by the NR yard. They had some massive pieces of timber stored there. Seems more like rebuilding than repairs
  11. New to this topic. What a fascinating read. I stayed in Barmouth on Tuesday. The network rail guys have some huge pieces of timber amassed north of the town and by the campsite. They had the bridge lit up at night and seemed to be working on it. I was struck by how pretty the line in from Barmouth Junction was at night - almost alpine
  12. What a silly comparison. If by running a story, you will know there will be serious repercussions, you should weigh up the merit of the story vs the consequences The original story was something of non-story that 10%? of BP stations may suffer a shortage. I mean really, how many people would actually notice that. But by running the story, all hell ensues. We all knew what would happen. And now we have people unable to get to hospital appointments and ambulances unable to get to sick people. Did the ends justify the means? Running a story and claiming it is in the public interest is a weak excuse. Remember Cliff Richard? I think the BBC had its fingers all over that and effectively ruined the man's career.
  13. Well, given what we all knew would happen, maybe it is an idea to ignore it. Plenty of news stories get ignored everyday, plenty of others get trumped up to sell advertising. Daily Mail, take your bow.
  14. In a word, yes. Add a 'shadow ban' as well so that those afronted don't know that their criticisms are only viewable by themselves. He's a youtuber. He has to generate views to keep going. More likes, more views, more income. If you don't like him, just block him and block any google news feeds. I doubt it'll have much effect - the interest in him here suggests his income is likely to remain strong. And fwiw, i'm not a fan of his.
  15. Regards new wheels, there is another thread about this, especially given the price. Of the top of my head, i think some have been fitting Hornby wheels onto them
  16. Early Heljan 33's have brass wheels that attract dirt like anything. If its one of these, its better to change the wheels.
  17. Do the square holes trap air and ruin the underwater running ability?
  18. On this very morning - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Unbuilt-AI-Models-4mm-scale-brass-kit-BR-experimental-Fell-4-8-4-diesel-loco-/164949527894?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
  19. Buy it and plant it on your layout. If you really want a kit, plenty turn up at swapmeets and ebay, graciously left behind by people who ran out of life to build them.

  21. I think a problem you may have is that self printing the image to the size you want is likely to lead to a loss of resolution. Obviously the quality of the printer will have some bearing too. Looking at the images you've kindly supplied above, i can read the text on only two of them. Looking at this page, there seem some which might be appropriate, but I'd guess not to the exact size you need. Could you not use editing software to resize them? https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo/1970s-advertising.html
  22. I wrote a code for an Arduino uno and used hall sensors in the track. Magnet is in the loco. Sound would be easy to add if you wished https://youtu.be/LkfrgZQyoaE
  23. Although I never wanted a 91, i felt sorry for cavalex after the Class 91 and then there was the HAA. Doubtless Hornby are already blowing the dust off their railroad 56's. But i do really like the large logo 56's and my order is ready to be placed. Good luck guys
  24. Rumour has it that Dapol are also 'cashing in' with a re-release of their track cleaning wagon. Non functioning this time, it'll have an anti-vax message.
