  1. Yes, don't all rush, you'll be wasting your time
  2. Interesting. The photo of you with it is very helpful. They look possibly a fraction on the large size, but nothing too noticeable
  3. ^ already here. Have a look at the slightly more focused train tech/gauge master product http://www.train-tech.com/index.php/sound/scenic-sounds
  4. Message to Dave. I can understand how you might feel at times - sniping, digs, criticism. Its hard. But as one modeller to another, as one business owner to another, look deep into your soul and come back here fighting. There is a common theme on these djm threads and it's like a cancer for your company. You have the power to fight it. Tackle the problem, dig deep and come back here to stop it spreading. My friend, I'm not interested in an n guage shark van, or in fact any n guage item but I really do want your business to succeed. Be brave, make that call.

As above. One of mine went straight back.
  6. Notification from Rails that my Charlotte is in the post
  7. Slightly off topic, but Janus is the reason - looks like GVH may have had a data breach last year. Just checked my email address on haveibeenpwned.com after a BBC suggestion, to find my email was scraped from the site. You may wish to check for yourself and change security as appropriate. HTH.
  8. Nice pic. Interesting pic too, showing how the appearance of the yellow varies according to the lighting. I'm pretty sure that Dapol didn't make it with a swooosh from dark to light, just the how it appears. If your picture had been lit differently, we would be saying it was too light. Or too dark. Better to see in the flesh? I'm reminded of the various debates on colour going on ad nauseum on at least two different threads.
  9. S stock back to its launch price at the Lt museum shop. Not quite a bargain at launch, but as the price of everything else goes up, it looks better value. You could try the code WELCOME10 at checkout for a further 10% off. Mixed reports on whether this works. https://www.ltmuseumshop.co.uk/models/trams-trains/motorised-Bachmann-s-stock-2017-4-car-set-35-990b#item=239150
  10. They're pretty easy to control. Put it into programming mode, call up a cv address, press + or - and the address should be set
  11. I think you made my point better than me. At the moment, Hornby need the money to come in. Not in three years or five years, now. They're losing money. Put yourself in the shoes of an investor : "So guv, we've got these models that wiped their own faces a few years ago. We could stick some new liveries on them for peanuts and people will suck them up. We can have them in the shops in a few months bringing money in" OR "So guv, everyones pretty much covered everything. Someone on an internet page I was reading reckons that the Class 120 would be a good seller. Its the best of what's left. Its a bit of a niche but its just about the only thing left in any numbers. It'll take four years for it to come to light and show any money" Your point about Hattons et al waiting in the wings is spot on. Why not make hay while the sun shines with these older models - its not like its costing them much. If Hattons do a HST in a few years, so be it. Hornby may as well get value from the tooling while they can. Short termist? - Absolutely!!
  12. Producing EMU's is all well and good, but will they seller enough now and in the future. A few will buy because they need one, a few will buy for a novelty, a few will be collectors. And after that? Enough for a second run? If I were them I'd keep clear of new tooling and batter the hell out of their tooling for the HST, class 60 and maybe class 56 with every livery they could (so to speak). Build up the cash with minimal costs. If you insist on new tooling (I'm not so sure), I think the answer for what to do is on the Bachmann thread - 37s and 47s. They just keep selling.
  13. Perhaps you have the Prius Hybrid version of the 07 and its sound fitted? Lucky !
  14. Absolutely no problem at all. Ian's post was a timely reminder of the world outside boxshifters. I really appreciated the phone call - i thought that was a nice touch. I see you're not far from me and i bet you're that type shop that provides a lovely cup of tea, just that smidgen too hot that i have to browse while it cools down. I am weak. You'll see me soon!!
  15. Spot on. Members just need to factor in another point - Do you think you'll still be alive and kicking a year from now? If that is looking dubious, make hay with the Hattons sale and go out surrounded by boxes, including one rather big one
  16. Thanks for the tip on this, just ordered a B/G DBSO from them, however received a phone call 5 minutes later to say that it was not yet in stock, despite what the website says. I take your point though, other suppliers exist other than Hattons. It was nice to get the phone call and I'm quite happy to wait.
  17. Thanks. You answered my question. You don't need a DBS check to work with children. Now can we please stop with this utterly useless belief that DBS checks prevent child abuse. They don't. Let's enjoy the TV programme and move on
  18. May I just clear something up regarding DBS checks? Where is it codified that anyone in the presence of children must have a DBS check carried out upon them? Employers may ask for it as part of due diligence, but some common sense needs to be applied. The purpose of a DBS check was to give some protection where the risk of abuse to a child or vulnerable adult was significant. Often this is a one on one scenario, the classic example being a doctor and their patient. Other people who may come into contact with children but where risk is low will usually not be deemed necessary to have a DBS check, such as that same Doctor's receptionist. Being in the same room with children does not need a DBS check.
  19. As above. Thank you for making a show that is so 'cosy' to watch, with interest and humour in equal measure. Never is a joke taken too far, never is it nasty, never has it been a lazy jab at 'anoraks'. Its a great show, you should be really proud. Is there any thought in a spin-off programme showing how some of these fabulous layouts were done, particularly some of the finer details? I've seen several things done that i'd love to know more about - water, static grass, moving vehicles were all items that I would have loved to watch more about.
