  1. Yes, they are a nice Wagon. Like I said above, would have liked alternative ends but never mind. Had a go myself at creating Railfreight Red & Black BAA’s with different ends. Renunbered 900172. Repainted from Grey into Railfreight Red using Ford Carnival Red rattle can. Seen it said that Carnival Red is close to Railfreight Red. I’m not too sure. It’s a bit too orange for my liking so once some Railmatch paint is acquired, it will be changed. Once that’s done I will be happy with it. Renunbered 900117 Cut the middle girder and cross sections out to create this. Very quick and simple to do. Looks good. 66738
  2. Yes, Simon Bendall posted on the 9th of November that the new POT is on the new correct B5 Bogies. The POS should also be on B5’s but Bachmann did not tool them up at the time and stuck incorrect B4’s under as a stand in.66738
  3. A few new wagons have sneaked in this week without too much fanfare. I’ll share with you a few photos of three that got delivered today. First up, 38-352B BAA Steel Carrier Wagon In BR Railfreight Red and Black. Running number 900015. Pretty much the same as 38-352 and 38-352A. Features a spoked handbrake wheel just like 38-352 (352A had a solid wheel) It carries the same ends as the previous two versions, which for me is a slight let down. I was hoping for a later number that had alternative ends, just to mix it up a bit. But all in all, this should prove a popular model, just like the previous ones. BAA’s are always quite hard to source. Next up is 38-151C BDA Bogie Bolster Wagon BR Railfreight Red, and is factory weathered. Running number 950226. Pretty standard BDA as previous 38-151, 38-151A, 38-151B and 38-159. Features hand brake lever (like 38-151B) rather than wheel. The weathering is ok, with ’Railfreight’ looking like it’s had grime wiped clean from it. Again should prove quite a good seller. Last up is 38-153 Ex BDA YAA ‘BRILL’ Bogie Bolster Wagon In BR Departmental Yellow. Running number 950144. Posed with 38-150Z (Model Rail Exclusive) for comparison. 38-153 has a lighter shade of yellow which I prefer. Would go quite nice with Hattons recently announced 12ton Plasser crane. 66738
  4. Don’t know if anyone has done a comparison of the Blue and Grey POT with the Blue and Grey POS (39-425) yet. Apologies if it’s already been done but here it is. Colours match nicely. Royal Mail crest is a slightly lighter Gold on the POT than the POS but not too different to stand out massively. Very pleased. 66738
  5. Thank you Trog.More valuable information for me to chew over. 66738
  6. Hi Dave. Many thanks for your prompt reply. Your explanation answers my questions perfectly. Many thanks. 66738
  7. Very nice indeed. One of the branded BR ones for me. Question(s): Were these taken to site individually or with for example, Salmon ladened with track Pannels in the consist of the engineering train? What other engineering wagons could they / would they typically run with if they went to site in train consist? Were they vacuum or air braked?
  8. Yes, it was a factory error using the wrong tooling, just like it was a factory error when they did the MK2D TSO with a FO body. I never said Hornby were attempting to pass off a Railroad spec HAA as a Full Fat version. All I was saying was I had pre ordered the MK2D TSO and the 3 pack of Full Fat HAA’s, and when they arrived the errors were obvious and they were sent back in exchange for a full refund. Hornby never tried to deceive with these models, but their quality control was shoddy. It could have and should have been spotted before issue.
  9. I’m interested in the Nitrogen tank(s) to Falmouth. I’ve tried looking in the usual places for an image, but to no avail. Could anyone direct me to a photo depicting said tank either at Falmouth or en route in consist. Many thanks 66738
  10. Oh dear. This is a problem. Been looking forward to one of these but really annoyed by this change in livery. Might have to go down the B+G route instead. Had a look about to try and see how late a Blue and Grey example survived until, and could only see until late 1987. Does anybody know if one lasted any later? Cheers 66738
  11. I caved in this afternoon and pre ordered one from you. It's well out of my time period but I could not resist. To me it's the best looking 37 going.
  12. Yeah I bought one. Had the same thoughts regarding de classification, but after some research realised this only occurred when the coaches were Intercity Executive or even maybe Swallow. Anyway, it was duly sent back from whence it came. Similar time to their 3 pack of full fat Coal sector HAA's. They were Railroad spec at full fat cost when they came. They also 'did one'. Again, prime examples of Hornby not really giving a care towards non steam related items.
  13. Still a bit of work to do yet, blending in here and there but here are two of them. I apologise for the terrible photo and I know my work is nowhere near the quality of most modellers on here, but I've only recently plucked up the courage to started to experiment with weathering.
  14. A bit of work with T-cut and cotton bud makes the data panel legible. Fantastic model but I'm not happy about the amount of work going into getting these decent. My most frustrating hopper to sort is wagon 19019. The I C I letters have been removed and you are supposed to see evidence of them being there but the weathering is so thick, you can only see it ever so faintly if you tilt the wagon at a certain angle. On the layout, it just can't be seen. Had to use a fabric pad dipped in T-cut in the model drill, to take the brown well back to see it. Then touched back in around the letters. Before I start dry brush weathering with rusty browns. Grrrrr!
  15. HST DVT buffer fitted Executive or Swallow livery?
  16. HST Power cars in Exec Intercity, but this time the INTERCITY 125 correctly in white, not silver like the previous incarnation. Class 31/4 in Blue with headlight centre,or with headlight off set. Class 31/4 in Mainline Intercity. Class 31/1 or /2 or /3 in Railfreight minus the red stripe. Mk 1 FO White roof Intercity charters TTS Valenta HST sold separately. With better speakers, it can sound quite good. While I really do like the higher end dcc sound files from the big players, I also don't mind some of the cheaper TTS. The 31 sounds decent as does the 20, and the aforementioned Valenta HST. Not sold on the 37 or 47 but would be interested in Hornby producing: TTS for DMU 101/108 etc etc TTS for Class 56 TTS for class 50
  17. This is good news! For my wallet that is. Although I am very much looking forward to these, I was getting quite nervous how I was going to be able to afford to pay for these, the Mk2F's + DBSO, and the FFA/FGA wagons all at a similar time. At least it gives me a bit more wiggle room to not have to worry about the ICI's for another few months.

    Class 142

Sorry, picture is on its side.

Actually, the brown could be very similar to Skipper brown if the same was used on the Units as that sign.

    Class 142

Maybe a little darker than GMPTE brown. It's hard to tell. I'd have a peek in the door control panels of 001-007 009-014 as I definitely know the 144's have remnants of red/cream in them, but think these were redesigned on the 142 when the 4 leaf doors were repaced with the two leaf of today. Don't think they had the bottom air release/Bowden cable panel when 4 leaf, and that's where the brown would be on the GMPTE. Surpised I found some original outer skin steel on 019, as they have had a lot replaced over their lives, most recently at Holbeck.
  21. Indeed. If these were Steam age coaches, you can be sure they'd maybe not be perfect but would be a lot more correct. I sometimes think Hornby find modern era stuff a nuisance and they'd much rather be concentrating on the steam era. Their decisions are often strange regarding modern stuff. They'd sell a boat load Red Schenker 60's, but instead plan a grey one with stickers of Mainline/Transrail/Loadhaul(Can't remember which one). They would have sold a load of Blue 31/4's, but instead went for the DCR livery. And they would sell a lot of Mk3's if they got them anywhere near correct. Now is the time to capitalise on Oxford's shortcomings and take the bull by the horn. Because the Hornby Mk3 is a decent coach, and with a bit of updating and attention to detail, could be an excellent one.
