  1. Top of the list, Sealed beam class 45. They’ve surely got to start thinking about doing one. Haven’t they? Please?? Class 104 dmu. Pretty much like the 45, a Northern based layout in the 80’s requires at least one of these, but I think they will wait until the 117 & 121 are done before considering another dmu. Banger blue class 47 with headlight. Only the Kernow L/E one has been done, but it’s weathered and named. Another mid-late 80’s must have up north, a 150/2 original running man livery. I know this tooling has not been done (Gangway door flyscreen clear perspex to show the gangway door window, but I’d happily do a bit of modelling to sort that. Railfreight class 47 (No red stripe). MK 2A/2Z in Scotrail. Another run of 2F TSO’s in B&G and Exec. CCT Express Parcels Red Star. (These fetch good money these days, and I require a few more). MK 1 NEA/NEX Full Brake in B&G. (92***). Not been done yet. All 6 versions produced thus far are NDV/NAV in the 8**** series. A MK 2B/2C would be nice. I don’t require much freight stock but a Black TOTAL TTA tank would be most welcome. As would an (ex OBA) ZDA BASS in Engineers Dutch. Finally, some new tool B5 Bogie’s as found under the new POT sold separately. 66738
  2. Class 100. Chester?66738
  3. I know! I know!! With lights and DCC sound added it’s worth a fortune but my period is ‘87ish and a Northern based layout in that time period requires at least one peak. I need to renumber it, as 048 was laid up well before then. 66738
  4. Here is my £6 seconds body on a green class 45 chassis. I’m not an expert on peaks, so could anyone with more knowledge than I comment on if the chassis is correct for a Blue 45/0. Think i’m going to renumber it to 45007 as it was one of the last 45/0’s out there. 66738
  5. You won’t find an overflowing ash tray these days thank goodness. Used to hate taking over a train recently vacated by a smoker. The smell of stale cigarettes was everywhere. On the brake and power handles, the desk, AWS button, the lot! Then your hands stunk. This was way before hand sanitizer, so you had to wait until PNB to wash hands. Cabs are a lot more plesent these days.66738
  6. Like the idea of Mentor coach and while we are at it, some more Network Rail coaches as previous NR releases are now rare as the preverbal hens teeth and when they do crop up for sale, are extremely expensive. But Caroline would be fantastic. Great for all modern day layouts large or small. Loco + Caroline is a small compact train that visits everywhere at some time or another. A very good shout ‘The Black hat’! 66738
  7. 31/4 in Br Blue with headlight (centre/off set) 31/1/2/3 in Railfreight (Not Red Stripe) 56 in Br Blue/ Large Logo Blue HST Power cars in Intercity Executive HST Power car in Exec/Swallow with DVT Buffers Mk 1 FO Intercity Charter white roofs Mk 2D/2E in Scotrail HAA Full Fat 3 pack Yellow frame Coal sector Not for me personally but Plain Red DB 60 is a no brainier. 66738
  8. You was very lucky mate. Or your school years were when the hobby was still acceptable. What years were you there if you don’t mind me asking? My original point was that times changed very quickly. Late ‘81 early ‘82 it seemed spotting or being an enthusiast was accepted widely amongst young lads, but by the late ‘80’s, you’d have had a beating if your interest was known. Computer games and other things came, and trains went. I only let one girlfriend know about my liking for trains. And only when I was satisfied that we were serious enough, did I broach the subject. Even then, it took over a year to pluck up enough courage. Her reaction was to laugh “oh my god, you’re not are you? Do you sit on a station and go....” Then in her best adenoids voice “Oh look! It’s 4123. I’d better write that down in my book.” It was pretty much what I expected. But she was fine about it. Just as long as I didn’t expect her to go and sit on a platform for hours. That girlfriend has been my wife for nearly 20 years. She’s come to quite like the railway. The comfortable life it’s given us as helped! My daughters thought it was really cool having a Dad as a train driver. One of their best memories is when I worked a Railtour to York back in December 2011,on 144017. My wife and girls came along for the ride. My DTM at the time asked if my girls would like to see their Dad in action, so he went to fetch them and sat them both on the 2nd mans seat. So I’m doing 75MPH at Colton Junction with my girls (and of course DTM). Very special memories that will live with me forever! I apologise to Accurascale for taking the thread off on a tangent. 66738
  9. “It’s just what I wanted! Thank you Darling. How did you know?”
  10. I just think what’s the point in making life anymore difficult for myself. I’m again, quite popular at our depot and would like it to stay that way. 66738
  11. Hi Clive.I’d have loved nothing more than to be out in the open with it at school, but hiding it undoubtedly avoided my head being kicked in for not conforming. Got through school unscathed and to be fair was one of the more popular lads, into football, girls, and up to date music. Looking back, I don’t regret how I approached school. It was the right thing for me to do. Now works a bit different. Yes, there would be a bit of stick but nowt like school. One of the main reasons to keep it quiet at work stems from my first Conductor interview with a Conductor manager (I spent 3 years as a tail lamp). He advised I kept it quiet, particularly if I was to go on to apply to driver grade, as my concentration on the job in hand may called into doubt and be distracted by other things. He thought this could go against me in the application process.Thought this was fair advice. I’ve kept it reasonably quiet ever since. I’m happy with how my colleagues see me, and would like it to stay that way. It doesn’t stop me doing a bit of spotting on my travels! 66738
  12. And that young man is a prime example of how spotters/Rail Enthusiasts got labelled firmly in the adenoids/geek/weirdo brigade. Had to keep my love for Trains well under my hat all through school, as if I’d ‘come out’, I think I’d have been in for some tough times. (And high school came only 7 and a half years after that footage in December 1981). Shows how times changed so rapidly back then. Even though I’ve been a driver for over 15 years, most still don’t know about my passion. And I’m not alone. Fair few colleagues also keep schtum about their hobby, for fear of being ridiculed.Anyway, a fantastic bit of footage and makes me even more excited for Tulyar to arrive. 66738
  13. Yes, I’ve just seen Matt’s post indicating that Oxford have not had many questions about the livery, and they think sales are going well. Maybe a few of us on here unhappy with the colours are in the minority. Maybe the majority out there are happy with the colours, or the fact that the coaches and locos don’t particularly match. Bargain bin prices here there and everywhere tell a different story in my eyes, but that’s just my opinion. I’m willing to admit I’m wrong on this, and if Oxford are happy with sales, perhaps the Intercity and Scotrail colours aren’t going to be that damaging to their business. But I’m guessing colours that match Bachmann/Lima/Railmatch and Precision would turn good sales into great sales. 66738
  14. Refusing to listen is financially going to be very damaging for them. Surely someone at Oxford or advisors to them should have a bit of nouse about them and realise what’s going to happen if they continue to take this stance. It’s just crazy.
  15. Tulyar was ordered within minutes of the announcement, but only in DCC ready. Would very much like their sound project and hopefully some sort of agreement can be reached by Rails to supply sound either fitted or as separate for us to fit. 66738
  16. How disappointing but not entirely surprising! What was the point of Oxford Rail buying a Bachmann 47/7 at Modelrail Scotland back in February to compare, but still insist the colours they have used are correct when an awful lot of people including some highly respected modellers are trying to help them by telling them they are are far from correct. Sometimes you just can’t tell ‘em, and you’ve just got to let them crack on and find out for themselves what a monumental error they have made. All the helpful advice that’s been given has been ignored (apart from the silver window surrounds which amazingly they’ve taken on board). I tried in Glasgow months ago and got pretty much the same response about the colours are correct BR specifications, and we voted for this. It’s so frustrating. Countless rakes of these Scotrail versions, as well as Intercity Swallow and at some point Executive liveries could have been sold but lots like me will have turned their back on them. A huge number of sales lost. If they’d only just listen. And like as already been said, if they were to do the survey again, i’m pretty sure they would get a different outcome. After all, we originally voted to match the proper BR paint colours. We expected the colours to be right. Oxford say they are right but they clearly are not. Now we’d vote to match Bachmann, Lima, Railmatch etc etc. Blimey, Lima got it right 20 odd years ago! 2018 Oxford can’t. I’m sorry, I know i’m venting my spleen here but they don’t deserve for this project to be a success. And I really wanted the project to be a big success for them. 66738
  17. Any reports from Warley on the colours used? Please please let Oxford have listened and taken action on the Scotrail ones. But I’ll not hold my breath.
  18. Hope so. Even though i’m not too good with Bogie types, once I know something’s not right, I want to correct it.66738
  19. Yes, so will I if they are produced separately.66738
  20. I’m sure you are correct. I’m not too up on Bogies, and was only going on Simons post on the 9th of November,66738
  21. Hopefully that’s because they are so busy getting their MK3 colours correct!66738
  22. Perhaps cravensdmufan was using the mobile version as ‘Users may experience some slow response times whilst server maintenance work is underway’ banner seems to only be on the Full Version and not on the mobile one.66738
