  1. Did these ever appear at Bricklayers Arms in London? I don't remember ever seeing one as my mother lifted me over the bridge parapet on Dunton Road. ( it was slightly annoying as a 16 year old, but you didn't argue with my mother!).
  2. British Enterprise has arrived in Nova Scotia. Well packed by TMC and fairly quick delivery. Locomotive looks great, no apparent damage.
  3. Depends if you can wait a century or not!
  4. I have been having a local problem with my Postman who likes to leave packages the other side of the gate on my stoop, exposed to all weathers. Several times I have arrived home to find a soggy jiffy bag. However, Rails have been wrapping their boxes in a plastic envelope which keeps the well packed contents protected from the worst of the Canadian weather! A great service!
  5. I think Raven's NER Pacific would be just the thing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
  6. I've noticed with Rapido in Canada that when something is announced they have a cut off point. If the item has not received enough orders it doesn't go ahead, and they can advance the deadline somewhat if desired. This way they have some idea of what demand will be and adjust production accordingly. If retailer X wishes to order 200 units they will get them and the customer knows if they place their order with them, it will be honoured. It should not be beyond the whit of the accountants to work out that if they wish to make a certain return they make the retailers pay for it and any direct sales provide the cream. Seems a much better idea than "tiers" which are difficult to understand and make the product harder to obtain.
  7. TMC have asked for payment for R3841, it may even reach Canada before Christmas. Dog house is rather spacious, and the dog seems happy to share.
  8. I wonder if these are on the water yet? Asking for my Bank Manager.
  9. My wife asked me what I would like for Christmas, I think I'll ask for a new blanket for the dog house. If Rails have their Autocar and TMC get some Hush Hush, she will invite me to live there when she finds out how much I've spent this Christmas!
  10. Just been asked by Rails for payment for my five wagons, so Peco must have found some wheels.
  11. I was thinking if the locomotive had both it could couple to other stock (with 3 link) and the chaldron. I seem to remember seeing pictures of old colliery locomotives which had chains to attach to older wagons. Of course the issue may be the magnets attracting the 3 link rings (simple fix use non-ferrous links). Thanks Richard
  12. Would it be possible to fit three links to the coupling hook and the NEM chain to a locomotive?
  13. I knew a Harrier pilot who had a 3l Capri in aubergine but he was a shy and retiring type.
  14. Finally took the plunge and put a deposit on 37 001 now the reason is; a, I need something to pull the MDVs b, It would be nice to have company for "The Durham Light Infantry" when it arrives c, The 1:1 scale version was based in the North East for a while d, it looks fantastic I will go away and ponder, I may be a long time!
  15. Looking at the model it would appear that a washer could be used to raise the height of the body and buffers, but the couplings would appear to be part of the bogie and would be lower if the correct 10.5mm wheels were used.
  16. It is a large box, they probably have an LP if not a 78!
  17. Don't tell me, a free Bee Gees CD in the box of every Deltic?
  18. I may be going mad, but I thought I got an email this morning about PFA wagons with RJB containers, but I can't see it now and there is nothing on the website. Is it time for the comfy jacket?
  19. Beamish acquired their waggons from Seaham Harbour so the Londonderry pack looks spot on.
  20. Basically, yes, there are old engravings with a man using his weight to apply the brake. This would only be for single waggons or upto three or four as suggested by Islesy. Labour was very cheap and although it may sound dangerous the waggons were only travelling below 10mph. There is film of marshalling yards in the Fifties with Shunters with and without poles slowing down unfitted wagons with their weight.
  21. Something to make your night out on the Toon go with a bang!
  22. Thanks for the update on the commissions, is it the same for the loads? Richard
