  1. How close are the First and Last HAAs to reaching these shores? I thought I read somewhere that although the first part of the main production had errors and were being reworked, this would not affect the production of the models for Locomotion.
  2. I have a model of 1759 on order and the question is do I get TMC to add DCC & Sound and then do their magic to it or do I order a second in LNER? Of course if the economy doesn't sink without trace I might do both. A D20 would be fantastic! We can always hope. You never know, Hornby might decide to fill in the gaps and make a Raven A2!
  3. Great something I didn't want and then I saw it in GNER Blue, mighty tempting!
  4. As it was an LNER 12T Van and Sheperd Neame are based in Kent it is quite possible that this livery is fictional. But I stand to be corrected.
  5. I think the North Eastern Railway T3 or LNER Q7 would be a great locomotive to pull those NER 20t Hoppers that will be announced the moment I get started building the Slaters kits I've had since 1990.
  6. W&S Stamp in the Old Kent Road used to have a slot for an old penny. They would hear the coin drop and turn on the controller and a train would run around the shop window. Not sure what happened after new money. Maybe they had good hearing or perhaps the price went up to Five New Pence - the start of inflation!
  7. August Bank Holiday up North?
  8. So they are now charging club members the price the Tier 3 guys did?
  9. Hornby have sent out an email that the new Rocket set is about to arrive, TMC have asked for money.
  10. I've had some dates where I'd been happy to have a hot stove nearby!
  11. You have probably never seen an Accurscale coal load. I don't think my skills are good enough to get close and for the price I think they are hard to beat. As in the UK, Nova Scotia has coal deposits that our governments refuse to use so that their populations can pay higher fuel bills. Unfortunately my local line was used for gypsum, so if you require any gypsum let me know and I will do a trade for coal!
  12. Mine arrived yesterday, well packed and safely delivered. It really is a beautiful product from the sprung buffers to the box. 10/10!
  13. From that angle it does look like the lamp should be a little lower as it appears in the photos to be below the centre of the headcode box.
  14. It must be that A2 "Duel" Carriage Way it is handbags at 50 paces!
  15. So the petrol sounds like a diesel? I may have to sit down!
  16. Pack 1 of HAAs arrived yesterday and Stunning doesn't do them justice! I really will have to build a railway to run them on!
  17. Think what may be missed is that there is not a huge market out there! There are other ways to make money which doesn't involve dealing with people who want a model railway. I am an agent for a company in the US which manufactures most of its products at home. When I go to local shows I find that although the few people who come through the door are interested, the majority don't want to pay for the quality when they can buy cheap second hand imports from China. From what I can judge, there is a small number of people who have both the funds and desire to buy high quality items . There are others not so fortunate, but not enough of them that manufacturers think it is worthwhile to look for their business.
  18. What an experience! Almost as good as hearing a Pacer pass Gateshead West on a wet morning in January! 😂
  19. A video on how you do it would be much appreciated! Looks like they didn't stay clean for long!
  20. To turn the lights on and off yes! Any magnet should work, but most put a wand in the pack. Even the Hornby Lighted Generics come with something!
  21. I am in the Dominion of Canada. DHL take the import duty of 15% and then add a $20 charge for the fun of it. If items are sent by the Post Office they may get stopped by the Canadian Border Services Agency and they charge 15% and $10, but if it is a small item they are probably passed. The practice of sending lots of small parcels by DHL can be rather expensive and outweigh the cost of the items purchased. But most shippers don't seem to care and loose a customer.
