  1. There’s a training day at the depot! Gives me an excuse to display the rail oddities, have one of those brilliant Tiny HK Ford transit mk2 ambulances in St John UK livery, the EFE Bristol VR and Bob’s hot dogs models! Plus a nice fuller than usual car park for my Oxford Diecasts!
  2. Bought this lovely little thing from a model shop this week. A competently made item based on a Bachmann power bogie. Is it some sort of track recording unit? If even has a high visibility jacket and a first aid kit in the fully detailed cab interior. Cannot claim the credit for making it but kudos to whomever it was.
  3. Thirty three pounds each. Definitely madness. A fiver a pop at a toy fair and they’d be a decent enough item.
  4. I’m no expert but 20000 bricks for 120 quid seems a good deal!
  5. I listed the items honestly and at a small starting price. The issue was the standard of their workmanship which I pointed out was poor form as the builder may have had mental or physical challenges and that we were better than that :)
  6. I have had a couple of listings actually appear in this thread. Does that make me famous?
  7. I have the Ian Allan locomotives coaching stock and multiple unit combined volume for 1989 so I can provide the livery of any of the AC Locos as at 1st January 1989 (including it they were still in traffic at that point). I cannot reproduce as it’s copyright but if you give me a few locos I’ll advise.
  8. That terrier looks out of gauge? Assume they chose the route carefully…
  9. I was going to say it looks as much like the photographer as anything. If it could be coaxed into life it’s not bad as an old school curiosity though.
  10. Managed to do all three in Bridlington in one hit finally a couple of weeks ago. Mighty Lancer only has one small display case of model railways. Monty’s has literally all sorts including real rarities (a bit like a swap meet in a shop). Croppers has a decent selection but looks like stock is reduced looking at the spare space in some of the areas. Came away with a Wickham Trolkey from Croppers. Monty’s was too eclectic and Mighty Lancer just nothing there.
  11. It should be sold as a rare misprint of Annie or Clarabel :)
  12. Ah good it was retirement at least not insolvency. Wish him well. I used to attend a good bit but haven’t been for a couple of years hence was news to me
  13. Always been a stop off when passing on the nearby A1. Sad to say it’s no longer trading. Shame as it was one of my favourite shops. Very very helpful and always a good choice of stock.
  14. In Coventry with work which is rare these days so going over to say hello in a few mins! Edited to say it’s a decent setup. Friendly proprietors with some unusual bits including South African rolling stock (never seen before). I was visitor number one which was cool. Sadly not customer number one but I’ll be back whenever I’m in Coventry.
  15. Yes the Bachmann peak had a better motor even on the early versions in the 1990s and was a revelation for 00 UK at the time with flywheel etc. I remember buying one. Slow top speed though and a fair noise when it was deployed! Top speed only mattered to a teenage me of course. The Mainline and Replica peaks were all 45s though. No 46s….
  16. I remember when this thread was for mad eBay listings! Those were the halcyon days
  17. Words containing meow meows meowed meowing and . . … homeowner (poof goes your mind)
  18. Careful you don’t open Pandora’s box van with that one. It’s a real can of worm gears.
  19. Old Seamus was always bragging how much peat Donkey Dick could pull on his wagon! A real Boggy Boaster.
  20. Interestingly I typed boggy boaster wagon into Google and it said do you mean bogie bolster wagon so that’s some smart niche AI
  21. That’s it! All my flat bogie bolster wagons are now officially boggy boasters. Brilliant. With a few careful hashtags and keywords I can get Google to pick up on this lol #Hornby #triang #boggyboaster 😊 Or it could be a new phrase. “I don’t wish to be a boggy boaster but I (insert claim here)”!
  22. Good call. It isn’t madness as the seller isn’t trying to extort money and is being fair in his description. It also isn’t all that bad and it’s clever how all the bits have been bashed together to make something that at least resembles a locomotive. We are spoiled for choice now but like johnster said earlier this may date back to circa 1980 and be a make do with what they had model. It could be their ability or their finances or just “what the hell let’s use up these odd bits in my box” fun. I have a 12t van in my collection with a different manufacturer for the body, the chassis, each wheel set and even each coupling! Yes it’s as bad as it sounds but I don’t care and if i choose to list it for 99p that’s in my gift
  23. This thread I set up ages back may be a worthwhile resurrection - this thread reminded me of it!
  24. Just reviving this useful thread after commenting on another thread reminded me of its existence :)
