  1. Do you think it might have had a shaped plate on top of the tanks matching the Shape of the front plate which might have been removed at some point it’s long life?

  4. I see what you mean, spring looks too far back and sitting too low. it may be about the right size but the lower part is below the running plate on the model.
  5. Even Toblerones were made in Dundee by Keiller’s for the Swiss company between 1932 and 1967.
  6. Hi Guy Kinlochleven from 1907, Fort William was built in the 1920’s. I was fascinated by the history of the construction of these when I was a kid, particularly the narrow gauge railway involved with the Fort William one. But the first smelter was at Foyers on the banks of Loch Ness in 1895, so aluminium from there would have initially travelled on the Caledonian canal. What about products like jute sacking or canvas from Dundee. Barrels of salt herring, seed potatoes, Caithness flagstones.

  11. The boiler diameter does not include the lagging, so over lagging it will be over 5 feet
  12. Some of the LMS built LT&S tanks were based in Dundee of all places, although I am yet to see a photo of one in the area.

  14. Having said that the Great Central trialled pulverised coal and a colloidal fuel which is basically pulverised coal suspended in a carrier liquid. Not that the trials were successful though at the time
  15. Quick question I know that when Dugald Drummond began designing NBR locomotives there was a lot of Stroudley influence with some of the early types being near copies of Stroudley types. So the question is was there a similarity in the carriage designs as well.

  19. 33mm + 29mm Approximately overall length over frame 154mm approx not including the front ? Guard iron looks like the axle holes have been opened out a bit
  20. Hi guys I picked these frame plates up on eBay in a job lot of Gibson parts, I wonder if anyone ha an idea what they are for. I suspect they are for a 2-6-2T of some sort. Appologies for the picture quality
