  3. Hi Guy I saw this uk based company mentioned on another thread, Hexa Cubed. https://www.hexa-cubed.co.uk/ Is this of any use to you?
  4. It might not be as high as it looks, the running plate and cab are quite low. The running plate (or footplate) is below the top of the buffer beam

  9. It certainly looks the part Adam, and crane tank models are thin in the ground. I would be interested when you bring this one out, and probably would have another if you get around to a scale chassis
  10. Found or with a 90 degree drive on both sides. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC3V-6V-9V-12V-Micro-Mini-N20-Gear-Motor-Full-Metal-Gearbox-Dual-Shaft-Robot-Car-/254942535064?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 Sorry cannot seem to be able to insert the image on this phone.
  11. I have received one of Dave’s kits for the dock tank and I must say it’s a very well thought out package in my opinion nice etches, some resin castings for tank fillers chimney dome and backplate And a well thought out set of instructions.
  12. I will have a look when I get the prints, may be a bit clearer but I think you have it.
  13. This is the second one, 10ton 6 plank this time https://hmrs.org.uk/photographs/smith-hood-dundee-10t-6-plank-s-e-228-op-f3r-regd-caley-8553-1897-paint-date-14-01-1897-age-neg-39026.html this one was registered in the Caledonian but axle boxes also appear to show NB.
  14. One of the largest coal merchants in Dundee and still significant into the 1970’s at least, one of the roads in the old Caledonian shed was known as “Smith Hood “ as it was adjacent to their part of the yard. They had an office in the town centre with a large model wagon in the window in full livery. Could the NB have something to do with the North British railway? I know they had “Thirling” agreements with a number of collieries and coal merchants.
  15. Your link prompted me to buy a couple of different photographs of Smith Hood wagons https://hmrs.org.uk/photographs/smith-hood-dundee-8t-4-plank-s-e-256-op-1897-f3r-no-reg-plate-paint-date-15-09-1897.html I have been looking for photos of these thanks for the inspiration to check this site
  16. I believe in practice timbers may have been spliced in some cases on the prototype. Can someone with more knowledge comment?
  17. Some private sellers may have a punt on Amazon with a high price as there are no charges just to list and no limit on timescale
  18. Are you going to do the q4 etches? Thanks Mark
