  1. Warrington January 2005. Good use for the EWS Bachmann Observation Saloon.
  2. Mine have arrived. Truly splendid. Huge thanks again to Accurascale - they are becoming my supplier of choice.
  3. Fantastic. Yet more wagons to recreate the Cornish clay services. I have been wanting this wagon for many years. Perfect for my small clay layout. Thank you so much all at Rainbow.
  4. I wholeheartedly agree that we need to applaud the level of detail on our models. Accurascale are offering us superb renditions of popular stock at affordable prices. If we have to fix small items that come loose in transit, this is a small price to pay. Keep up the good work. Andrew
  5. I contacted Accurascale last night about a minor problem with a couple of my wagons and Patrick responded pretty much straight away. The fact that I had an answer so late into the evening is seriously impressive. Accurascale have gone up further in my estimation. Andrew
  6. Are these going to be held up by the Suez blockage? I’m not stressing, just curious!
  7. Just received my BS blue wagons. I am seriously impressed. It’s so good to be able to model the trains that I have filmed at Newport.
  8. I have had no problems at all with my 6. The packaging is very sturdy and each wagon is protected by a small sheet of film-like stuff(!) I am sorry that you have had problems but it looks like your experience is not the norm. I have no hesitation in buying more.
  9. Just spotted that this wagon is coded IIA whereas there were also HYAs in the rake.
  10. Thanks everyone for the confirmation. These’ll look good on the layout.
  11. I want to use these on stone trains on our club layout. I know that a number have been cut down for use on stone trains. However, are there unmodified wagons also used on stone traffic? This was taken at Peak Forest in 2019 and looks to me like an unmodified wagon. Any help much appreciated.
  12. Absolutely. It is much more efficient to immediately process a new order for items in stock than to ‘park’ it until all preorders have been processed. Given the time delay between those who preorder and those who order when in stock is minimal, I can only suggest is that the fuss is from those who want bragging rights. ‘I’ve got my model before you did’ is a bit like ‘my dad’s bigger than your dad’! Don’t forget that the key advantage of a preorder is that you are guaranteed to get a model which may sell out.
  13. Flippin’ Heck. I am not a steam modeller but this has substantially raised the bar. The video is inspired and I thoroughly enjoyed the mix of model and prototype shots. It was also good to see Mike explaining the use of the Manors as ‘support’ locos to early diesels. Well done to all involved.
  14. The hotel has had a major upgrade with lodges overlooking the beach. So fewer stairs, perhaps. However the limos will get stuck and the Secret Service won’t cope with the heavy traffic on the A30 roundabout!
  15. As they worked in Cornwall on bagged clay, there is a good chance that they came via ADJ. I have no proof but here is an undated Flickr photo of a pair of wagons through Exeter.
  16. There are photos of IZAs at Swansea Burrows on Paul’s site. Hope that this helps.
  17. Can’t wait to get my set of ARC wagons onto our exhibition layout ‘Hoopers Aggregates’. I think that a Construction 56 would look so much better than a 57!
  18. Any chance of selling these as separate items in order for those who already have the Bachmann models can upgrade them?
  19. There is some good published reference materials on wagon and formations. ‘Freight-Train Formations’ by David Ratcliffe has a mix of MDOs, MDVs, MCOs and MCVs on 7G34, the 13:34 Pwllheli-Bescot on 18/09/79. ’British Railways Unfitted and Vacuum-braked Wagons in Colour’ by Trevor Mann has good photos/data on page 40. ’Working Wagons Vol 2’ by David Larkin pages 14 and 15 and ‘Working Wagons Vol 3’ by David Larkin pages 12 and 13. Finally, ‘Model Railway Constructor November 1983’ pages 637-641. There are probably loads more out there. Hope that this helps.
  20. Yes That would make a partially fitted train and, obviously, a brake van would still be required. if you have the Express Modeller ‘Train Formations Handbook’ there is a train hauled by 44004 with a mix of vacuum and unfitted wagons. Hope that this helps.
  21. Proper Job! Sooo good to see the winding gear and slots modelled.
  22. To add to the discussion, watch out for the noses. Many locos had clips and it is worth checking photos for your particular model. I have sourced from eBay a number of noses to swap on my Bachmann models.
  23. My opinion. Oh no not again! Two excellent manufacturers going head to head. There is only a certain market size for a high fidelity HAA with variants. As Hornby models have been around for very many years, this will have a limiting effect on sales. Both Cavalex and Accurascale will lose out if they go head to head. For the best commercial reasons, one should step back and focus on something else. That’s my two penneth worth!
  24. Now available to run on Cornish layouts! 425 runs through Par yesterday.
  25. The blue cradled wagons travelled widely. This is Newport in December 2007
