  1. The blue cradled wagons travelled widely. This is Newport in December 2007
  2. You’re pleasing us Cornish modellers. We’ll need 20 at least for our club layout! I see that our friend Craig has been providing you with the necessary photographic material. He’s a brilliant photographer and can provide you with loads of information.
  3. Hi Danny it’s the earlier British Rail owned wagons that ran from the late 60s up to the early 2000s. They were TOPs coded HAA and later HBA and HDA. Seen on MGRs across the country.
  4. A decent top and winding mechanism for CDA’s and we’re really talking. You know you want to.
  5. Dohh!! Just answered my own question. Paul Bartlett has a photo of this wagon at Dover in 1989. Wagon built in 1977.
  6. Some detail on the leaflet that comes with the HO model. Not sure that they ever ran in the UK.
  7. Hi Mark Still very much being built! I’ll post photos when I finish.
  8. My BLAs have arrived from Rails. As Mark has indicated above, these are fantastic models. The underframe and bogie details are amazing. Seen here on the rare hot rolled coil train to Par Docks!
  9. For some reason I thought I could only run the Mendip stone PTAs in same liveried rakes. However, I have just watched some video taken at Kensington Olympia in October 1994 of mixed Yeoman/ARC rakes. Time to for me to order some more methinks!
  10. Hi - there is no part number! I rang Bachmann Spares and described what I wanted. The lady knew what I was asking for. Hope that this helps.
  11. Hi fifty four You can buy them from Bachmann Spares. They are the same as the class 57 piping and they had these in stock when I bought mine about 9 months ago. I had excellent service from Bachmann.
  12. Legless drivers - serious breach of regulations. Use the spare legs for people climbing through windows as they have lost their keys! any other suggestions.
  13. Thanks guys i thought the rivet issue had been resolved. Let’s hope Heljan come up trumps. I want a number of the Tinsley namers and don’t want to pay Olivia’s prices!
  14. Resurrecting this thread, I have been looking for a banger blue, sealed h/c 47 with headlights and cantrail stripes. I steer clear of the early Bachy 47s as they have the awful rivets on the front cab windows. The last offerings of 47001 and 47625 don’t have headlights and cantrail stripes. Open door for Heljan!
  15. Hi Andy I have photos of NSE liveried power twins at St Ives and on St Blazey. In 1995/1996 we had 117708 (51336/51378) and 117709 (51344/51386) allocated to PZ. We also had 117305 which was a Choc/cream NSE mix (51368/51361). Flikr have a photo of 709 if you type ‘117 St Ives’. We also had NSE 101’s which ran with the 117’s on busy days. I have always liked the look of NSE by the sea.
  16. Thanks Andy and ‘Class 158 productions’. I can apply the ‘if it ran in Cornwall’ rule as opposed to Rule 1.
  17. Quick question. Can these excellent models be run as 2 car sets (as ran in NSE livery on the St Ives branch)?
  18. From experience, marquees can be windy and have uneven ground. Also the greater risk of theft/vandalism from a marquee is worth considering. We (Redruth MRC) have done marquees before and wouldn’t do them again.
  19. I think that the virus will be the determinate of whether this is the ‘near’ future.
  20. Just read this on FB from the Medway Model Railway Show: Hi all. I have aupdate on the Medway Model Railway show from the exhibition organiser. The Medway Model Show 2020 has been cancelled and below are the reasons for that decision: Taking into account feedback from some exhibitors and traders, the prevailing situation and potential difficulties in setting up and running the Medway Model Show, it is with regret and heavy heart that the group has taken the decision to cancel the event at Fort Pitt Grammar School on 5 & 6 September 2020. While some people explained that they fall into the vulnerable category and would be unable to attend, I know some people were eager for the exhibition to go ahead. However, having spoken with the school on Friday (12 June), the following would have had to apply: * All traders and exhibitors would have to wear face coverings in public areas, with traders and others selling items likely to have to wear gloves * All visitors would be strongly encouraged to wear a face covering, accepting that some may not be able to do so for health or other valid reasons * Items picked up from trade stands but not purchased (by a visitor) would need to be wiped with an anti-bacterial liquid/cloth very quickly afterwards * Purchases would ideally be made using a contactless card. If cash has to be accepted, any change would need to be wiped with an anti-bacterial liquid/cloth * It is likely only the two single toilets - the accessible and male teacher - would be available to use across the weekend * There would be no hot food and only limited 'cold' food available on paper plates; with tea/coffee/juice available in paper cups * Walkways would have to be much wider, with a one-way system in operation (which would reduce the number of stands) and a limit to the number of visitors allowed into the school at one time * There would be excessive additional work incurred by the group to make the event work and a likely heavy financial loss. I am sure you will agree that, in view of the above, it is the right decision to forego the Medway Model Show in 2020 and meet again in 2021. I hope you will be able to join us again on 4 & 5 September 2021 and I will be in touch in due course. The points made highlight the practical difficulties that we all face as we plan for shows in the future.
  21. We had them in Cornwall (based off Laira and then Penzance) between 1994 and 1997. They mainly worked the St Ives branch. We also had the GW liveried set. They first ran as 3 car sets (DMBS/TSL/DMCL or DMBS/TSL/DMS) and then 2 car sets (DMBS/DMCL or DMBS/DMS).
  22. Is that your new shop? You can use it to travel between exhibitions! Take care all of you.
  23. And another big thankyou to KMRC. I am in sheltered isolation owing to underlying health issues. This has prompted me to finish my exhibition layout. I ordered 3 bullhead points and a box of track last week and realised that the Camborne shop had no stock. As Peco have closed, I thought that I would be out of isolation before they arrived. Well the team organised for stock from the Guildford shop to be despatched to me and the parcel arrived this morning. Said parcel has been wiped down and is in ‘isolation ‘ in my railway shed. Fantastic service from a hard-working dedicated team. Andrew
