  1. I have been looking into using my spare 20/3 body. I plan to put this on a spare Lima unpowered chassis. I don’t think that the article in Hornby Mag is correct in stating that 20308 had its DRS logo in the middle position on both sides. Also the 20/3s have 2 different lighting configurations. 20301-5 differ from 20306-20315. I am probably faced with removing the DRS logo on the one side and ‘moving it’ to the correct position (using transfers that I bought on the Shawplan stand many years ago!).
  2. Hi Fran Being based in St Austell, I see these on a regular basis. The current rake of wagons on the circuit don’t have any EWS branded examples. Great wagon though. We have been waiting for a pucker CDA for many years.
  3. It’s not Z gauge Dougle - it’s far, far away!!
  4. We (Redruth MRC) are there with ‘Hoopers Aggregates’. Come and see us ‘Country Mice’ in the Big Smoke!
  5. We (Redruth MRC) will be at Ally Pally with ‘Hoopers Aggregates’. Although the layout is set in the 2000s, I plan to run a rake of ARC PTAs with a Construction 56 on the Sunday. It will be fun loading them with stone. Looking forward to see you there!
  6. A few shots of ‘Newvaddon’, our N gauge layout. We (Redruth MRC) are looking forward to going. We always like Bristol.
  7. Flippin’ fantastic wagons. I have wanted these since I first saw them on fertiliser trains through Cornwall. Great job Revolution.
  8. The card processing system requires Kernow to initially charge for preorders and then credit back the same amount within a short timeframe. So, in effect, they don’t charge at point of order as the purchaser doesn’t have to settle the bill until the items are in stock and being shipped.
  9. I too cannot find any photos of ‘Exeter’ in old NSE livery with black window surrounds. Hornby need to correct this.
  10. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you. You have produced some wonderful models and have utilised most of my railway budget in 2021. Looking forward to more in 2022. Best regards, Andrew
  11. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thankyou for your excellent models. Looking forward to more in 2022. Best regards Andrew
  12. Mine have arrived from Rails. I am a very happy bunny. I have wanted to model decent length steel trains for a long time and these wagons enable me to do this. They are superb. Many thanks to all at Cavalex and Happy Christmas. Andrew
  13. I have just received a small delivery from Charlie and I am very impressed by the excellent service provided. I am a very happy customer. Andrew
  14. I have received my replacement body. Many thanks to Bachmann for doing this.
  15. Hi Mike The backscene was produced from digital film taken from the window of a Paddington bound train. It is superb. The layout is featured in Hornby Mag this month.
  16. Stretching their legs on ‘Reading to Paddington’ earlier today.

    MRA wagons

I have recently fitted Hunts to my MRAs. Some were a bit fiddly to fit as the small wire in the MRA pocket needed pushing down with a small screwdriver in order for the coupling to be a tight fit. The couplings make a huge difference as each wagon in a 5 set can be individually placed on the track before coupling up. I have run 2 MRA sets together and the Hunts have performed really well. Andrew
  18. You may just be unlucky. I have 45 Heljan locos and none with any faults. I admit that a very small number arrived with detail parts detached but this was quickly fixed. Andrew
  19. Thanks both. i hadn’t thought about overload. I know that Hornby 50s/56s and 60s suffer from hardening grease. I’ll strip down the loco and clean and re-oil. Andrew
  20. I have fitted a class 60 TTS decoder taken from Hornby’s 60044 to an early model (60026). The loco fires up with no problems but as soon as the throttle is applied it cuts out. The loco (60026) runs smoothly on analogue and the wheels/pickups are clean. I am using a Prodigy Express. Does anyone have any suggestions/guidance? Much thanks in anticipation. Andrew
  21. Over the weekend at the Great Electric Train Show we (Redruth MRC) fitted Hunt couplings to a number of rakes of stone wagons on Hoopers Aggregates. The couplings performed faultlessly and easily managed the weight of our fully loaded trains. Usually at the end of a show we are picking up a number of Dapol coupling hooks which have come off during operation. This weekend we ditched that palaver. Furthermore we had fewer coupling related derailments. We had great service from the West Hill Wagon Works team and really enjoyed chatting to them on their stand. Highly recommended. Andrew (Hoopers Aggregates operator)
  22. We have been running sets of 8 of these loaded with ‘fish tank grit’ at GETS (on Hoopers Aggregates) and all our locos (Bachmann, Hornby, Dapol) are easily handling them. Andrew
  23. Hi all i am just bumping this as it is a few months since Bachmann confirmed that they will provide replacement bodies. Can I safely assume that this has still to happen? Andrew
  24. Great videos - thanks Waverley. All the NSE stock appears to be in the lighter blue. I am now thinking that the darker blue sets were on the Cambridge services. Does anyone have confirmation of this? Andrew
