  1. Why are they all looking that funny object when there's a much more impressive one behind them ! Visions of Tina Turner singing
  2. 2120 Bristol to Plymouth was bogie stock the van behind the loco was the Worcester van (Kays traffic) off the 3B01 Worcester to Bristol parcels a lengthy train to Gloucester one van to Bristol often 2X25 on the front 2125 to Salisbury then unadvertised to Eastleigh had CCT/PMV
  3. It didn't stop locos and units going where they shouldn't in peace time . Latest one i know of ,153 and 158's not permitted north of Radyr , but a 153 got to Treherbert in 2021 ! Which caused some problems on how to get it back .
  4. There would be the Thurso engine waiting at Georgemas junction to take that part of the train . Wick had two locos overnight one passenger and one goods
  5. Box gone by that time note bare signal post , platform would be on trains right behind Dave with level crossing at far end of platform . Ready to drop off to open gates , train men operated , but why not alight onto platform
  6. No wires to get in the way . The relay room was rebuilt at the other end of the loop so out the way of a run through . The best way is to leave the trap open until the trains at a stand
  7. And all done without road transport except for staff and no outside contractors . No week to build a road to bring in cranes etc and cause endless disruption to residents , although few at this location . The only item that is better now is the provision of welfare facilities
  8. Looks like they put palletts on the track and run over them for lighting up wood !
  9. The class 20 singular (only ever seen one at a time) seemed to be absent in the mid 70's from my visits , with 25's on a rough guess 1 to 5 ratio with 27's , the 20 came back later having had one to Mallaig and return
  10. I would say from 1975 onwards using the ones not needed for shipment traffic .
  11. China clay was in standard hyfits with no end door used just for china clay only and the 9ft wheel base end tipper surplus to shipment traffic probaly mid 70's on , both types fitted with roller bearings in the 1970's . A few of the latter ended there days in 1979 in a derailment at Settle junction on the 6M86 St Blazey to Kingmoor . I think Corpach was always powder not slurry . Rolled paper was in sheeted highs late 60's early 70's
  12. The Honeybourne banker was unusual as it very often was tender first usually a Collett 0-6-0 , even photos taken in the summer so not weather / wind direction related
  13. When banking from Honeybourne to Chipping Campden the banker was not coupled but if going through to Moreton-in-Marsh was coupled due to some falling gradients
  14. After December 1965 , should have put a comma between Craven Arms and junction
  15. Craven Arms junction to Central Wales line facing crossover maximum mechanical worked distance from box then bi to junction controlled by ground frame operated by guard for facing moves (short term to closure which never happened) but sprung to run through with trailing moves . Later motor worked from box and since a new junction 2019 ? doing away with above . Crediton double (now single) to two single lines
