  1. D7046 on 1A50 the sidings on the left aren't trapped so the line to the left of the train is a siding , the line the train is on being flat bottom would suggest it is a running line , is the train facing down on the up line with the wagons being on the other running line with loop and siding behind . I would like to suggest Bath Goods , box with three ventilaters and Claverton Down as back drop . Dont mind being proved wrong
  2. Yatton had the Clevedon branch turning off part the way along the down platform . At Doncaster the Sheffield trains turn off half way along platform 3
  3. J403 looks like trains been pulled up to the box , gunpowder vans after first four wagons . J1212 BoCars for carrying car bodies probably returning from Gosford Green to Linwood
  4. Neath closer than Llanelli , serviced by the Briton Ferry pilot , also Ammanford on the GCG line along with landsales in MDO's at Wernos washery . Briton Ferry was the home of shocvans for the tinplate trade
  5. Tiverton Junction about to start back out on to the down main
  6. Convenient in steam days to detach the assisting engine off the front after propelling back in the platform
  7. Not sure as late as 1975 but definateley 1972 21t VB (house coal concentration branded ) hoppers were always half the consist of an afternoon Exeter Riverside to St Austell working , coal for Drinnick Power Station . Not sure when it ceased sorry

  10. 1V31 southbound hit obstruction near Leebotwood after passing Dorrington 0553 sent back as 1000 5V31 actual 1127 to Abbeyforegate CS
  11. Templecombe had a totally unprototype junction with the Somerset & Dorset which if it never existed any modeler suggesting such would have been derided . If the layout accommodates the service running thats what counts .
  12. J1542 nice Midland lower quadrant above the siphon , theres a lot detail in these shots
  13. Habrough was where a car zig zagged around the AHB and drove into the train I was on in 1990
  14. Like the pilot going about its business , shunter with pole ready to knock cuts off or to hook on , nothing like a yard with several cuts running
  15. Very common before guards were allowed in back cabs , as vans were added enroute another brake was tagged on . Not very good if you've just got the van warmed up , thats why its a goods brake with stove , of course there were parcels brakes with stoves but never enough
  16. Flooding on the Somerset levels between Langport West and Martock , trains ran through the floods and had enough steam to get to Yeovil or Taunton where the fire could be sorted out
  17. College Road goods was used by the C&W , the yard being full of 16 tonners spaced about 4 yards apart to allow work on draw gear and buffers . Remember passing by with it hammering down with rain and staff in yellow waterproofs working away with no cover at all like many C&W locations
  18. Caledonian sleepers were always Euston LMS workings to Stranraer , Glasgow Central , Perth , Inverness and Oban where as Kings Cross workings were to former North British destinations Edinburgh Fort William and Aberdeen . St Pancras to the Waverley route NB and G&SWR
  19. The bankers always faced uphill and went down on the front of trains to St Davids and then cut off and straight into the loco road ready to bank the next up train . So this is a very rare phot , well done phil
