  1. Looks like Phases 3 and 4 will be over the next three-four years, possibly more due to things being shuffled around.
  2. Ah, I see. Apologies for the pointless thread then.
  3. Didn't seem to be a thread for this already, so I thought I'd make one. Hornby have recently posted a teaser on their socials, which seems to be for a "new train". https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdaMWpHBpM42MU9qRgzlEpg/community?lb=Ugkx_equugm2Aj6FRmce5JOiLh3TqaR9LV6v
  4. An interesting announcement. Don't suppose there's any chance of Accurascale reissuing the Hattons 14xx while they're at it? Someday someone will do a 14xx, someday!
  5. I don't think the issue is duplication, actually. I think it's timing of duplication. If Accurascale came out tomorrow with a new 8F, it's not quite the same thing as Bachmann coming out with a new 31 at the exact same time Accurascale is coming out with a new 31 - the current 8F models are dated, so a more modern one would be appreciated. If we were years out from Accurascale's Class 31's release, then I don't think Bachmann would be getting any backlash over duplication.
  6. I'm curious about the autorelease couplings, but in all honesty, if I wanted a 31, I'd get an Accurascale one.
  7. The wait for a new 14xx continues... 😢
  8. It's very obviously a 14xx, since I keep banging on about someone making a new one. But then again, it's never a 14xx, so...
  9. Obviously it'll be a 14xx, that's a little locomotive. It's never a 14xx. 😢
  10. Did I suggest a 14xx already? If not, a 14xx.
  11. Wow, that was a letdown. Locomotion 1 is interesting though.
  12. I just made my first order with Hattons a few weeks ago, and now they're closing down... This must be my fault, my bad everyone. In all seriousness, this is terrible news - the loss of Hattons will be devastating for the hobby. It was certainly a shock when I heard about it, as it seems to have been for everyone else. Another casualty of Brexit, it seems - sunlit uplands, huh? My sympathies to the staff.
  13. As I mentioned in a post earlier in this thread, I think Planet will be the next era 1 locomotive they go for - like Lion and Rocket, which are more based on modern day replicas/rebuilt versions, there's a replica Planet Locomotive they can scan for design work. A Patentee is a good shout too, but I feel like Planet is more likely. Who knows though?
  14. Clearly this is a 14xx announcement they're teasing, obviously. *No, it isn't 😢
  15. I'm Australian, though I've not ordered anything with Hattons before (was, and still am, planning to bulk by the trackwork for the new layout from them). It's a shame that these taxes will make things much more expensive for those who do purchase from them regularly, especially during a cost of living crisis; though I understand they don't particularly have a choice here, given it's Australian law.
  16. Gut feeling says they'll probably do The Great Bear - it's a one-off experimental locomotive in the same vein as the Hush Hush and the Turbomotive. I also think the steamlined King will appear in the range at somepoint soon - the only streamlined steam locomotive they've not done (to my knowledge, which isn't the most extensive, so definitely could be wrong), and can reuse parts of the existing King class tooling, lowering costs. Also think they might have a OO Pannier in development, since it's one of the things they're doing for TT - cue the next duplication controversy! Outside of the GWR, I suspect we'll get a model of Planet, as it'd fit nicely into their Era 1 niche and there's the replica to work off. In terms of non-locomotives, I feel like they'll do a modern version of the GWR centenary coaches - if not in the 2024 range, in 2025-2026's. Just seems to me in a similiar vein to the LMS and LNER Coronation coach sets they've done recently. This isn't wishlisting - this is what I suspect they'll do, based on patterns in what they've produced recently. I've had a decent track record when it comes to "predictions about what Hornby will do", so I'm pretty confident in saying atleast one of the things I mentioned will materialize in 2024's range.
  17. Oooo. It's not a need, since I do have two Bachmann ones, which are perfectly acceptable - but a sound fitted example is definitely going on the wanted list. Well done Accurascale!
  18. My long waiting for a 14xx continues. Someday...
  19. I'd like to see an EFE 14xx. Doubt it'll happen, but would be nice.
  20. No, my point was more that you can't really make a prototypical layout at this moment, since the stock available is all from different eras. Which is fine, and it makes sense they want to do the heavy hitters early. All I was saying was that a pannier tank alone would have allowed a reasonably prototypical model of a GWR branchline terminus to be modelled. That, and an 0-6-0 steam engine is a big missing link atm, and I think the pannier would be the most popular locomotive that could be done in that department, other than perhaps a J94. Doesn't particularly matter, just a lament on my end.
  21. Oh, I know a Pannier was announced - what I'm saying is, that should be one of the first things they released, that should be available now, not in two-three years. And I said *probably* a Jinty, not "it's 100% a Jinty". Figured it was the most probable since it's an 0-6-0, isn't an announced one, has that TT history and is one of the more recognisable 0-6-0 loco types. Could be something else, but it probably will be a Jinty.
  22. I think if I were just starting out with model railways, and it was 2027, I'd probably have gone for TT due to the greater scale accuracy and smaller size. The reason I say 2027 is because, by that point, I expect they'll have a decent selection of locomotives and rolling stock. The current issue is that you've only got two LNER/BR Eastern Region express locos, an HST which doesn't go with them and fits into the same "express" category and a Class 08 that doesn't fit with anything available. I think it'd have been better to bring out a Pannier, an Autocoach and a GWR Toad brakevan ASAP. I think the A3, A4 and HST are logical earlybirds, since more casual audiences will want expresses, but the Panniers are also pretty iconic due to their ubiquity, and alone would have been suitable to model a small GWR branchline terminus. Obviously, as a Western Region modeller, I am biased, but the general point seems to have been taken, since Hornby are seemingly going to be announcing an 0-6-0 (probably a Jinty) for phase 2/3 in the next issue of the TT club magazine.
  23. Curved points would be my pick - much more useful for the layout I've got planned.
