  1. It is the bit here. It looks as if the raft is too small or the extra supports have been added later:
  2. The supports on the tank wagon look odd. The lower supports seem to go through the raft. The other thing to check is that the model that fails to print correctly is actually sitting on the base and not floating above it.
  3. Even parts like the tender axleboxes/springs are styrene.
  4. I spotted the following models ridiculously cheap in an antique shop in Lyme Regis recently and bought them. I had initially spotted they were fitted with Romford wheels but was surprised on picking them up how light they were. They were scratchbuilt in styrene with bought in components extremely limited: They are unmotorized and appear to have no method of being stripped down. The chassis are styrene as are the coupling rods and valve gear and there are no bearings so presumably not intended for heavy use. Even the handrails are plastic. The craftmanship that has gone into them is astounding however time has not been good to them and they really could do with some repairs. The only clue to the builder might be the writing on the bottom of one of the tenders: Does anyone know who PMR might be? I am loath to break them up to reclaim the Romford wheels but suspect repairs might not be practical so might have to sacrifice them to remove the wheels.
  5. More importantly how does it now react in a ruling pen? Less flooding?
  6. It may also increase transparency. I guess only way to tell is try it.
  7. Geoff Haynes goes through doing a GNR livery in his book "Painting and Lining Model Locomotives and Coaches"
  8. Interesting. I just tried right clicking on an old missing image link to "Open image in new Window" and got "Access Denied" error.
  9. Would it have been easier to do the dark green before the lining?
  10. Yes. Try halving it. Most user groups have suggested exposure settings for various machines/resins so it might be worth doing some research. (Try: https://www.facebook.com/groups/elegoomars/)
  11. Try rotating the items on the Z axis so they are not parallel to the build plate (30 degrees?). 0.05mm for a layer thickness might be improved by going to 0.02mm although it will increase print times.
  12. Can you give us some more information? What are you printing and how have you oriented it with regards to the build platform? Some photos would help.
  13. I do, on occasion, find direct photographic comparisons useful:
  14. I believe acetone softens epoxy. Would that have helped?
  15. All Coronation carriages were pressure ventilated so it does not explain why this "bath" (as Tony calls it) was only present on both carriages of the Restaurant Twins. It makes sense from a streamlining point of view but why not all carriages?
  16. Strange but apparently true. It appears to have only been applied to the Restaurant Twins. There is a photo in The London North Eastern Railway In Focus by John Crawley on page 53 showing Articulated "Coronation" coach No 1725 attributed to L Hanson. It is not apparent from that reproduction however examining a photographic version of the image the internal casing can be seen behind the LNER 10'0" Bogie.
  17. A SR specific version has now been put up on Shapeways: https://www.shapeways.com/product/5KN6ME5JD/sr-torpedo-vent-4mm-200
  18. In Cameo 3 I draw the two in different colours, say red and black. You can then print all red lines using a light cut or scriber then cut black lines with the blade
  19. From what I can tell from photos the vents on the SR 2Hal are like this (albeit pictured here on a different vehicle). They are very close to the LNER type but have additional openings and vanes under the tapering part:
  20. Try using acetone. Perhaps if you can get behind the casting put some acetone on some cotton wool and insert behind then wrap in aluminium foil and leave for 24hrs. Nitromors should also work. Both are regularly used by the ceramics expert on The Repair Shop to soften old epoxy.
  21. Have a look at the very first post in this thread then follow the link.
