By "Fact Stretchers" do you mean "Bovine Defacators"?
  2. Might have come out looking like Pinhead from the movie Hellraiser in that case...

It's both Rare and Very Rare, I'm surprised that it's not L@@K!!!! R@RE!!!!
  4. That looks incredibly life like.
  5. Good to see you back on your wheels Chris, even though it reminds me that I have done absolutely diddly at my layout for a month!
  6. That's exactly what I thought it was at first glance on my phone, it was only when I zoomed in that I realised it was a model.
  7. It's not one that I have read, but I've been told about it before, because I was being rather dismissive about a number of people who hung about with a local art group. A lot of grand talk but a thousand reasons to not start it this week. Always in the pub or off on some journey, despite claiming to be virtually homeless. I've ordered a copy for the vast sum of £3.11 on eBay, it looks like an interesting read.
  8. Indeed and it puts me in mind of this lyrically. https://youtu.be/sNh-iw7gsuI

He does actually say "I'm back" in the third movie!😆 well spotted!
  10. That is utterly bonkers. What a beautifully made thing. It's definitely got the style of both a traction engine and a pioneer motorcycle, obviously it's been built as an engineering and styling challenge and as a showpiece for the steam rally circuit, rather than road going. Obviously as a new build, you'd struggle to get it registered, the lack of a front brake would preclude that for a start. As a motorcycle, I'd have to give it a test ride (it's practically the law.) But the wheelbase is huge, so it won't corner at much over 20mph I don't think. Not that I'd be wanting to crank it over into a bend on those ribbed Grey Fergie tractor tyres. 4.00-19 sidecar or Austin 7 tyres would make life a bit easier. The centre of gravity is quite high, but that isn't a problem at low speeds. Weight wise, at 350kg, it's not really heavier than a modern cruiser or full dress tourer. As a comparison, my 1949 BSA A7 weighs 166kg, around 175 with fuel and oil. I wouldn't fancy having to pull up every few miles to stoke the fire either!

It's to be expected. Monkey metal is at some point going to crave bananas. Something that could also be said for the asking price.
  12. I am, however, on the lookout for some old wardrobe panels because that contiboard is very handy for making cassettes and the bases onto which they slide.
  13. I suspect that all privileges would be revoked for quite some time. Besides, layout boards of 1930s bird's eye maple might be considered somewhat ostentatious.
  14. It is a beautiful thing, built more like a piece of fine furniture rather than a functional box on wheels.
  15. Also the best thing to do with a chipboard wardrobe, IMHO. Although if cut into narrow strips you can make decent shelving out of them. Our wardrobes are old solid ones and I'm pretty confident that I would be in trouble if I sawed them up.
  16. Which is why I stick with a couple of B sets and a motley collection of antiquated stock from lord knows where. In my case the trains end up in a bay platform at Craven Arms, head on to the erstwhile Bishop's Castle Railway platform, only the goods trains are sent onwards. But your fictional destination obviously has corridor stock coming from a main line somewhere?
  17. No such thing as a dumb question, it's only dumb not to ask the question, because you never learn anything.
  18. Frantic sort of day, paintings wrapped up and because of the constant rain, were shoehorned into the back of the memsahib's Triumph Herald and taken to a gallery that normally is a two minute walk away. The setting up will be done in the morning. So now, I have a couple of hours spare to have a look at the backscene for Aston, which was pretty much the only casualty of the house move.
  19. Adapt, improvise and overcome. The close coupled tender drawbar on my 2251 started life as a brass picture hook.

"The model is in very good condition apart from a few bit of sticky stuff on top of the wagon which I’m guessing..." I'd be more concerned about the potential origins of the sticky stuff on that duvet the model is sitting on. Those stains look grim.
  21. Those Lledo vans were generally, though not always 1:64, some 1:50 and the buses were 1:100
