  1. I bought a Dapol one a few years ago and wasn't very impressed. Just felt a bit plasticy and the BR Bauxite was just not the right colour, so much so I sent it back But if it means modellers can still have a GPV, aren't too fussed about minor details and not break the bank, especially ATM, then I'm all for a Dapol GPV alongside the Rapido one!
  2. Just been billed by Rails of Sheffield. Looking forward to receiving mine in due course
  3. Not for me necessarily but the Highland Green versions look very tempting Also this might be a stupid question but is the central driver meant to be flangeless? Is this the case on the real locos too?
  4. Totally agree. Simply by saying there are projects happening makes me engage with Rapido and the like more than Hornby. Nothing in their range for me so I basically switch off from them until 2023 Meanwhile the Rapido strategy will have me hooked on every newsletter and social media post. Not wanting to start a wish list but one unknown project is probably a GWR wagon based on the Hunslet video. I would also speculate one is an SECR brake van to go with the SECR stock already on the way
  5. Why all the complaints about the "Delivery schedule" page and the Secret Project Surely this is basically the same as in one of the Accurascale threads were it was mentioned they had 20 or so new product releases planned for 2022??? Just the Rapido page has them in writing instead?
  6. Rule 1 applies!!! I assume you picked up a BR Green one given you are having WR thoughts
  7. Well given the size of the collection at Didcot the potential list is likely rather long
  8. Just checked the YT announcement video and it has been edited out too
  9. Thanks a lot Just been having a quick flick through the other photos on there and found this one of 75023 at Aber with Toplights! https://flic.kr/p/Y8GHuE
  10. Yes @RJS1977. The 1938 shed. I will create a topic on here at some point (he says), as the shed (and coal stage) are currently under consturction and are currently just a pile of greyboard and plasticard and strips Much appreciated @Miss Prism. So I guess depending what Dapol produce maybe 1 or 2 would be a sensible purchase? I'm sure a couple in a mixed rake behind a Dukedog on a local service would be a sensible option?
  11. With all the excitement of the recent Dapol announcement and the mention of corridor versions I thought I would come over to this thread to do a bit more learning on the subject as I have zero knowledge regards "Toplights". A quick skim and scan through the thread and much of the talk is about the coaches in service during the GWR period and not much during BR, so I have 3 questions. (Thought here was the most appropraite place to ask) 1. When were the last withdrawals of the corridor stock? 2. What livery would they have been in in BR service 3. Were the coaches widespread across the GWR/WR network unlike the ones Dapol have just announced? Cheers NB I model the Cambrian network circa 1960. Currently planning a representation of Aberystwyth engine shed
  12. Not one for me as they were withdrawn just a bit too early for my modelling period I'm sure there are A LOT of people who will be happy with this announcement
  13. Surely it is merely a case of clearing the backlog of models?? 3 previously announced new toolings have recently been delivered. Everything is kept under wraps these days so there could be a new steam model literally being manufactured as we speak
  14. To mess up our neatly packed and stored Hornby and Bachmann boxes which are all the same shape and size Although like others have said I prefer a strong box and good packaging for a model vs saving space
  15. With all the talk of embellishments, I'm genuinely considering taking paintbrush and white paint to my Bradley Manor when it arrives for the full blown 1960s look to contrast with 7800 and 7812 which I will be weathering into a more work worn appearance
  16. Just spotted this on the Hornby Magazine Facebook page. Certainly looks promising along with the rest of the line up. I still question the 89A Oswestry plate though Link below (hopefully it works) for anyone interested in having a look https://hubs.ly/Q0135xwK0
  17. Think I am winning with the Manor count with 3! Got the 7800 and 7812 on prepaid with AS thanks to their payment plans and Hornby Magazines 7802 with deposit paid as well
  18. I'm guessing something that worked in Scotland would seem an appropriate announcement for Model Rail Scotland show LNER K4 perhaps??
  19. If I'm not mistaken doesn't she have a different tender here than that of the Accurascale model??? Wide horn guides representing her pre '59 as per the Accurascale model vs Narrow post '59
  20. I'm not going to speculate about exact models but given that one of the AS quoted earlier in the thread that there were 20 new announcements coming in 2022, that means a new product every 2 and half weeks!
  21. Nothing in it for me but I wasn't really expecting to see anything that I want/need (looking for a new GWR 2251) Overall comment is it seems a bit of a scaled back announcement compared to previous years and I highly doubt the new tooling announced will appear this year as we haven't even been shown CADs etc. yet. For comparison the 2MTs, one of which I have on pre-order, won't be appearing until winter 2022 and they are fully tooled up with deco samples etc.
  22. Nice. More Manor to drool over and I note on the website the top banner shows more samples are in house! One quick question. I note the above samples have full cylinders but 7812 and 7808 have the cut outs. I'm guessing this is just a case of the factory using up bits to pull the samples together and the finished version will have full cylinders with no cut out whatsoever? Anyway, can't wait for these to be delivered!!!
  23. Certainly a much needed update to such a ubiqutous loco but part of me feels this is a bit of a missed opportunity for Hornby and they should have gone for a full blown Accurascale type launch with LOADS of different variants etc. offering each with either analogue or all the bells and whistles. Considering all the variations the tooling can now produce this is probably a significant investment (thinking Bachmann Cl 47 £1 million territory????) so to announce only 4 seems a bit silly Obviously not to immediately flood the market but a bit more variety would have been nice. With the current offering you can't even get a "standard" Walscharts version with BR Early Crest, it's Caprotti or nothing! I for one would bite (and only bite) if a preserved example was released. I'm sure I'm not the only person that would want one of the Riley 5s?
  24. Not wanting to reignite the debate on delivery dates etc. so this is more of a observation I note that much of the Hornby 2022 new toolings announced which seem to mostly only show photos of the real life prototype rather than CADs/3D prints/early samples etc. are due this year (some Summer 2022) whereas the 2MTs fully tooled with dec samples are just stuck in limbo!!!!!
  25. Hi Fran I assume the OHLE flash transfers will be easily removable too? I remember spotting a short video on Facebook of you showing how easy it was the remove the numbers of the Deltic Cheers
