  1. No - I just don't buy! The chalking panels weren't exactly common on WR or SR coaches, so I don't want them.
  2. I really don't like the chalking panels and in the past their presence has stopped me buying Bachmann Maroon and Crimson and Cream Mk1 BSKs. So much easier to add than remove...
  3. This link below from earlier in the thread works.
  4. I can't see anyone in the wagon so how did they get the coal out? Was that big group of staff drawing lots to see which unfortunate had to climb up and shovel? "Can't be me guv, I suffer from vertigo".
  5. It's a 31... the signalman knew that if he stopped the train it would never get moving again with assistance.
  6. I was just about to amend my post - it's the lower case letters where the issue is (to me).
  7. That nameplate doesn't look quite right. I don't think there's enough (red) space above the small letters so the proportions look slightly out. Here a photo of the real thing Royal Oak nameplate
  8. That’s some serious rivet detailing on the roof. https://www.modelrailoffers.co.uk/images/product/Class 48 roof_WEB.jpg
  9. Fine until an incoming train has been delayed until departure time. "This is a customer announcement. The train to Liverpool will be delayed for 30 minutes whilst its batteries are charged." The term laughing stock comes to mind.
  10. McC has posted in the Banana Vans thread that they are in the warehouse and despatch starts imminently. The Mk2Bs were in the same container so we should be getting them soon too.
  11. Have you read the Hatton’s closing thread? Your issues have been discussed thoroughly there, whereas this a thread about Dapol products that are not exclusives. Most if not all of Hatton’s exclusives have been taken on by someone else.
  12. In this case - I can't believe I'm saying this - the e-bay seller is not necessarily describing the coach unreasonably. I had several of these Bachmann Bulleid coaches where the corridor connector deformed in this way - even when stored in their boxes. A very soft plastic was used and the connector was easy to pull off, manipulate and put back in almost as good as new condition. I fitted newer Bulleid bogies with metal wheels and they were good runners.
  13. C5160 is either 55002 or 55005 based on the nameplate. The weathering looks more like other photos of 55005.
  14. Wasn’t D1960 delivered with ETH fitted, so presumably the production version will have an ETH plug fitted above the buffer beam?
  15. That will be 6022+6023. At that time they could only work with each other.
  16. 2-HAPs worked the Arundel - Littlehampton - Bognor shuttles, though I can’t off hand recall when they were withdrawn.
  17. The auto uncoupler is discussed in some depth in the Class 30/31 thread, but you can see the difference between the standard and auto uncoupler versions in the unpainted images above - the Romanian built loco on the left has the standard version whereas the other two have the auto uncoupler identifiable by the bronze coloured metal. As to the model, to me the later cab front with the flat shelf looks better than the curved versions on which the outer ends seem to drop too low. But it may be an illusion and I really need to see a painted version to judge properly.
  18. There is a photo by Eden Grove on Flickr taken during an open day at Doncaster Works in June 1978 with double wipers on one window and none on the other at one end and later photos of double wipers on both sides at the other end, which suggests that 55020 had double wipers at both ends when taken out of service.
  19. Y follows Z in Bachmann limited edition numbering, so there’s another limited edition out there using the same tooling options still to be announced - 35-825Z. Whose I wonder… my money is on KMRC.
  20. For me, a working fan is an irrelevance so not something I would pay extra for on its own, whereas the auto uncoupler is interesting and I would be happy to pay that, or indeed for both. But I am not willing to pay the extra for the SFX model to get them because I don’t want sound. When Bachmann first released its new 47, they said that the tinted windows could in future appear on non-sound models depending on the reaction to it. We’ve now had 37s and 31s with the tinted windows on the SFX models only, so so far Bachmann is keeping some “extra” features to the most expensive versions only. If they sell well that’s fine, but I’m sure there are plenty of us who aren’t interested in paying for sound to get them. A shame but there we are… understandably Bachmann (or any manufacturer for that matter) can’t please everyone.
  21. I was expecting Bachmann's long awaited WCRC Mk1s to arrive as all new versions, but then on reflection I think Bachmann has renewed different bits of the tooling over time - the roofs and now the ends (steps removed) and bogies - so perhaps an all new Mk1 family doesn't make financial sense at this time. I too prefer the shape of the Hornby Mk1s - their lack of detail and the absence of close coupling mechanisms is presumably deliberate to put them at a lower price point.
  22. If Bachmann has any sense it will steer clear of tripcock fitted 31s for the time being, as they would be a direct duplication of Accurascale versions. Much better to focus on liveries and tooling options that do not currently feature in Accurascale's announcements.
  23. Agree, as per snatmann's photo on Flickr 5803 near Reigate on vans from Reading
  24. I don’t care about being able to run them together, I would just want one that was suitable for late 70s to early 80s WR, operating services such as this from Robert Carroll’s photos on Flickr. So 31123 would be just about okay though better if the yellow clips weren’t there. Still undecided though as my preference is still OC’s 31135 with wrap round yellow cabs.
  25. There are images of both sides of both 31123 and 31293 on the Bachmann website and both looks to be the same, so with the exposed boiler filler tank. That makes sense as the difference between them is only tampo printing, thereby reducing costs.
