On 027 there are two more screws set about 1/2 inch further back from the bufferbeam screws. I removed them and popped the coupling out. -

I believe number 4 goes on the front of the bogie if you have removed the couplings -
Was this building in Newport built by the railway?
Stretch37266 replied to Jim Martin's topic in UK Prototype Questions
That was the main station building and entrance, think it was built about 1930. The upstairs of the 2 storey red building to the right was the Newport traincrew depot, whilst the downstairs had the Tops office, roster clerks, supervisor and stores. -

Fairly sure Retb started on the WHL in 1987/8 so 401/21/22 were on services in 1986. Hope it helps Paul

The centre headboard bracket was originally on the 37259 - 268 batch, so 401,421,422 and 430 of the eth ones. I know some others acquired similar brackets later such as 426 and 427. Paul

Hit a flock of sheep with a light engine on the Vale on the way to Fords, on the way back with the train kept a lookout and there's one lying in the 4 foot.Stopped the train to make sure it had expired, took a brake stick with me to put it out of its misery. As I stood over it it jumped up and made its escape,I jumped about the same distance, brake stick flying one way bardic the other, still it amused my guard who was crying with laughter.

Bin liner containerised brake van
Stretch37266 replied to Bristol_Rich's topic in UK Prototype Questions
Yes the container was used by the shunter for the propelling move from Avonmouth to Chittening. I believe its the same box now used from East Usk to Birdport. The air pipe connects to the emergency brake valve and a warning horn. Cheers Paul -

British Railways Form One - Did it actually exist?
Stretch37266 replied to John M Upton's topic in UK Prototype Questions
I was given one at the end of my shift by my supervisor for leaving a handbrake on a dangerous goods train,on looking in my diary for the day in question, found I had been annual leave. The supervisor ripped up the form 1 threw it in the bin, made a phone call to the next man up the chain and ripped into him. -
Thanks that's great Regards Paul
