  1. Thanks Chris116. I do get watch the leafs although I usually miss the start of the game. I can get the CBC Toronto feed on my firestick. They seem to be running hot and cold this season, as usual....
  2. It keeps the step grand kids (2 and 3) entertained before pulling all the other ornaments off the tree! I have to admit my first proper train set was an Airfix Prairie tank and B set coaches that came with a circle of track. As soon as it was out of the wrapping paper I was setting it under the tree. MJ (I still have it after all this time.)
  3. Sorry, It's jvol5013. I shouldn't try typing this early in the morning before a cup of tea...... At least we have a white Christmas this year, everyone thought I was nuts for bringing the snowblower from Ontario. Who's laughing now! MJ
  4. Merry Christmas David and thank you for another year of posting photographs daily. I was wondering what the clerestory coach would have been used for in jvol1053? Part of some sort of engineering train perhaps? I have recently come into the possession of one of the Hornby short clerestory coaches and was wondering what to do with it. 1952 would certainly be around the timeframe I would like to model. Thanks. MJ
  5. Bloody, flippin, damn and blast. I have to find the picture.....I really hate computers sometimes.
  6. Well, this is it. I'm not happy with the windows, but from three feet away I really don't mind.
  7. At leas it it gave the Bears something to do, as well as p**isng them off. HeHeHe. I must admit most gave a friendly wave as much to say we're to say we're doing the same job.
  8. Thanks for the input. I did some digging online and was surprised at how many big names are into model railways. Rodger Daltrey to Donald Sutherland. I doubt if anyone would make fun of them. They wouldn't have the balls. To The Johnster, I never considered myself as cannon fodder. I did serve only from the sky and loved every second of it, for the most part. Throwing around a Herc isn't easy!
  9. Thank you for the responses. It gives me something else to work on! Along with the other projects on the go..does it ever end? MJ
  10. I'm sorry to go off like this. It's just after half past 2 in the morning .I'm tired of being called a nerd, geek or whatever for my hobby of model railways!! My partner and one one of her grandchildren who, we suspect sufferers from Autism, loves trains. I've got him watching Thomas (but not the American animated version). I wonder how many others suffer the same stigma. I love classic cars, I drive a Subaru WRX and and ride a Suzuki bike, but still get grief from my hobby. I know it sounds petty., but I'm tired of it. I'm trying not to be a train set person for his sake, but I have to admit it is fun. Rant over. MJ
  11. Thanks for that. I thought black would have been right, but I find it hard to tell in black and white photo's. I've found a couple of YouTube video's, but nothing colour (yet!).
  12. I'm curious to know what the colours of breakdown trains would have been the 1950's. I've seen everything to green, black and red. I'm pretty sure red was '60's and '70's BR days I've bought a cheap Hornby hand crane and clerestory coach and would like to make up up a cheap, if not accurate but, slightly convincing set. Thanks. MJ. (Another of my many projects on the go!!!)
  13. Well another attempt. I have to admit (or make the excuse that), the lighting makes the finish looks quite light!
  14. Well, I've had an attempting improving the look of the Hornby body. One side isn't terrible but the other one is awful. I'll get it right if it kills me..LOL!
  15. Sorry if I've messed this up. I didn't see the message about waiting 30 seconds about submissions...
  16. Well, goes here two attempts at the same coach , as its supposed to be after 1948? ....
  17. Many thanks for the responses. Maybe I should do a mix of a bit weathered and filthy. I want to model about 1953, so Imagine there would still be a mix of stock carriage and locomotive wise. I guess rule number 1 still applies. I apologize if this is rather disjointed but it's not even 5am here. I blaming the dog LOL! MJ.
  18. Thank you Aire Head. I had completely missed that thread in my search. MJ.
