  1. Apologies if this has been asked before. How weathered would Great Western passenger locomotives have been in service? I imagine branchline locomotives quite not so much, but those on more suburban routes. I'm sure the GWR had an appearance to keep up. I have up some locomotives I would like to improve and get rid of the out of the box trainset look. Thanks. Mark.
  2. Thanks Steve! I'll figure out what I want and I'll be in touch. Mark.
  3. That looks amazing! I've just some time looking at the railtec website and their products look fantastic, I should order some. one thing I couldn't find on their website (unless I've missed the bleedin' obvious) is if the ship overseas. If anyone knows could you please let me know. I tried sending an e-mail but it it came back...I have probably done something wrong...wouldn't be the first time... Thanks, Mark.
  4. It's like when ii go into the kitchen and wonder, "what on Earth did I come in here for?"...my girlfriend just laughs a me, one day it will happen to her. I'm 52 and she's only 34....I doubt I'll live to see the day though.
  5. This was at a big car show a few years ago. looks good, probably a real ba@tard to drive though.
  6. It's 'boo-kay', poor Richard....
  7. Damn, this is really sad news. I can still hear his excited, passionate about racing voice in my head, that will sadly never be repeated. His commentary made my love of F1 and all motor sport so much more enjoyable. Thank you Murray, we will miss you. RIP.
  8. Watching Dr. Who from 1970.  Jon Pertwee, lots of Series 2 Land Rovers and classic British cars. So cheesy, but fun.

No, but he did chase sea devils around the sandpit. Or oil rig.

I can never remember what they all did, but its a given that the Dr chased X around Y...

  9. Nice work!! I've been trying to get ahold of the Bachmann model for a while, they don't seem to come up too often. She and 46527 were regulars on the Dursley branchline. I was born to late to see steam on the line, but apparently saw diesel.
  10. I'm afraid I can't help with the Deltic. I did see the prototype at York many moons ago, overhearing some kids wondering "Why there is an American engine here?", their words, not mine. Had to give them a bit of a history lesson. Thanks for your daily posts Dave.

  12. So, so, wrong......Isn't it illegal to destroy a work of art???
  13. Hi David; I can only echo the other comments to wish you a Happy Birthday and thanks for your pictures every day. Many Happy Returns. Mark.
  14. Very nice work. I have a black 'Princess Victoria' that I think has been around before I was even thought of. I have often thought about improving it, but it was my first train and I can't bring myself to do it. I might have to find another to have a bash at.... Mark. edit; mine has a very simple motion with no top bracket from the cylinders..I wonder if they were removed at some time?
  15. I've never found one in green....There was supposed to be the Great British Train Show this year where I was going to look, but like everything else was cancelled..... Hopefully it will be re scheduled for 2021, as its usually every other year and I missed the 2018 show!! Mark.
  16. Hey, I still have my Tri-ang Princess. It might be awful, but it was my first 'trainset engine'. I wouldn't trade it for the world...
  17. Nice work!!! Just goes to show how a little work can turn something that was basically a toy into something much more realistic. Hmmm.....now I'm thinking about having a rummage through some of my old 'train set' buildings etc. and seeing what I can have a crack at... I'm looking forwards to seeing how this progresses, so please keep the pictures coming!!! Mark.
  18. Hi Stewart; I didn't think about the underside... That's what happens when I'm in a rush.....the coupling is just held on with a clip...hopefully this picture helps. Mark.
  19. Hi all; I was just able to grab a quick picture before I have to head off to work. I hope the quality is good enough to illustrate the coupling....I just snapped it with my 'phone... Thanks for looking. Mark.
  20. Thank you all for you responses. The Hornby replacements look like a good modern alternative, not quite the same profile as the original, but as close as 'dammit'.... I'll try an get a picture and post it here. Mark.
  21. Does anyone know of a source or supplier of the original small Airfix tension lock coupling?? I would like to replace the couplings that I removed from some of my models in the '80's. It seems rather funny now that industry has gone to couplings that are little different to the Airfix couplings that they originally came out with in (IIRC) 1975!! Many thanks for any tips or suggestions. Mark.
  22. My parcel from Hattons just arrived today, just shy of five weeks after posting. NOT a criticism of Hattons, their service has always been first class....I guess we have to expect this to be the new 'normal' for some time to come. On the plus side, my next should be here soon
  23. Diamond Mine - Blue Rodeo It's the closest thing I can listen to that could be considered country music.....I hate the stuff. 'Five Days in July' was probably their best album, worth a listen. They are excellent performers..sadly no longer together.
