  1. Thanks Rod, Yes I'm quite pleased with progress though I'm sure at some stage something will come along and hold things up. I've just completed one of the two points that will be on the layout, I'm using C&L Fine scale B6 which I really enjoy building. All trackwork will be C&L fine scale with point operation via Tortoise Switch Machines which I used most successfully on my Haymarket Cross layout. I have also managed to keep all my Digitrax electronics from the above layout which I intend to use on this project. MY TWO YEAR OLD GRANDAUGHTER HELPING ME BUILD A C&L POINT Thanks Ian
  2. No it's Country Scenes Model which is made by a guy called martin Wood, it costs £1-50 per A4 sheet see here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/114058-pre-coloured-textured-brick-sheets/ He does about six different shades of brick and a couple of stone. Ian
  3. Thanks for your comments guys, unfortunately RMweb doesn't seem to want to let me upload a plan of my layout so I'm adding one or two more photos which might help show what I'm trying to do. Obviously none of the buildings are finished yet and I've still got more to make. TUNNEL ENTRANCE WALLING WITH TERRACE HOUSES GARAGE WORKSHOP Thanks Ian
  4. I have now started a new thread on 7mm+ modelling where you will be able to catch up on the work I've been doing with the Textured brick. This is the link if you want to have a look http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/117693-falcon-road-new-7mm-layout/ Cheers Ian
  5. This is my first venture into '0' gauge modelling so I thought I would share my experiences with you, I have just retired my last layout, Haymarket Cross' from the exhibition circuit after six years and thirty plus shows. I am trying to make the layout as easy as possible to move when I start taking it on the road. it measures 20' x 2' and will have three scenic boards 4'x 2' & two fiddle yard boards with traversers 4' x 2'. Here are my first photos This time I have started with the scenics as I'm finding everything so much bigger than 4mm, I have found a really good source of textured brick which looks really good. I have also decided to use Foamex for building which is both light and strong and when glued together with Pipe Cement I get a permanent bond. I have some more photos of other buidings I'm working on which I'll try and upload tomorrow. I welcome your comments. Cheers Ian H
  6. Hi Lee, I'm well impressed by what you've done with the layout, keep up the good work. Cheers Ian Ex Haymarket Cross!!!
  7. Hi, looking at your photo the loco looks like D9000, the reason for my thinking this is the front of the loco. After the spotlamps were removed in 1961 the areas were plated over and new step holes positioned in middle bottom of front/rear but unlike the rest of the class which had oval corners the oblong cut out on D9000 has square corners. Hope this helps Ian H
  8. Many thanks for your interest in my layout, I will be starting a thread on it shortly. I just need to get on a bit further on with it so I can get some more photos then I can add them. Thanks Ian
  9. Hi all, Attached are a couple of photos of the start of my new '0' gauge layout 'Falcon Road' where, like the earlier North Eastern building I made I have used the excellent Textured Brick from Martin Wood. I expect the project to take around eighteen months to complete. Cheers Ian
  10. Can anyone suggest a source of 7mm '0' gauge roof tiles, I have seen Slaters do them as an embossed sheet and I have used some York modelmaking ones which I feel are a fraction to big. Other than these I'm struggling to find any more, I need them for some terraced houses I'm scratch building where I need enough for a run of around 2400mm. Cheers Ian H
  11. As promised I attach some photos of my scratch built '0' Gauge North Eastern style works building, I have modelled it on one I took a photo of at Malton some years ago which unfortunately is now long gone. I still have work to do on it, I'm waiting for some chimneys arriving and I need to paint it and weather it all of which is new to me! I'm most impressed with the textured and coloured brick which cost me £1-50 per A4 sheet, in my opinion great value. I will post some more photos once I've got the chimneys fitted and painted. Thanks Ian

    Dapol 08

Silly question but has Dapol said what year it will be available !!!!
  13. Just received some textured brick from Martin, great service from him and very quick delivery. I will get some put on the building I'm making and put some photos up for you all to see. Cheers Ian
  14. Have made contact with Martin who is going to send me some '0' gauge samples of what he does. I will report the outcome once they arrive, perhaps one or two photos Cheers Ian
  15. Have now found out the company that does this brickwork is; Country Scenes Model Railways who I understand are in Huddersfield, the guy who runs it is called Martin Wood. I've emailed him in the hope he will be able to supply me. Ian
  16. Thanks for the info Allan, I've had a look at what they do which is similar to Scalescenes which you download and print off. The brickwork I'm talking about isn't downloadable but is available in sheets, the big thing with this range is its like Slater's brick plasticard but is completely finished with no painting required, its fully textured I haven't seen it but a friend who was at the Thirsk show in early August met the guy who does it and was most impressed with the finished product, unfortunately he forgot to get the guys details. Ian
  17. I understand there is a trader out there who has produced finished Pre Coloured brickwork sheets, he was one of the traders at the recent Thirsk model show. Does anyone know of this person and how to contact him. Thanks Ian H
  18. Does anyone know of a source for laser cut '0' gauge North Eastern style signalbox windows. I've had a look at York Model Makers and see they do a wide range but not sure if any of theirs are suitable. I'm interested in having a go at the box that was next to Scarborough shed. Thanks Ian H
  19. Thanks Tony, Sorry for delay in replying as I've been away for a few days, your photo gives me all I need to finish my model. Cheers Ian
  20. I'm currently building a Slaters 7033 LNER/BR 20ton brake van and am struggling a bit with the etched brake gear in the kit. Does anyone have any photos or drawings of the underside of the chassis showing where the brake gear is fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ian H
  21. Many years ago our club in Scarborough build a scale model of Scarborough Station which did a few shows. It eventually left the club and went to Pickering where it languished for years before moving to Bridlington pending a rebuild. Unfortunately this didn't materialise and it then moved to Norfolk to be owned by the chairman of Scarborough football club. He has since moved back to East Yorkshire and now lives near Driffield. He has joined our club and has brought the layout into the clubrooms where he is rebuilding it in the hope it will be able to attend at least one of our mini shows at Pickering station this year. As soon as I have more information I will let you all know. Ian H
