  1. Whilst I totally agree with you over the size issue, believe me when you have any of the Pacifics on it they more or less fill the full length of the table. As there is no other reliable turntable around at the moment I will have to make do with the Fleischmann one. My exhibition layout has two of these in use with the one in the fiddle yard been standard 'straight out of the box' the one used on the main layout (above) uses the optional Fleischmann remote operating unit (6915) which allows for use either manually or remote digitally. Both tables are used dozens of time a day at a show and have worked brilliantly for us. Ian H
  2. I will try & get some more photos taken as I've got the layout back up in my loft & fully working (minus the fiddle yard which won't fit) also there are one or two new locos I could do with pictures of. I've just had Andy York & Richard Wilson of BRM here doing loads of photos for the magazine & I understand it is to featured in the Feb edtion. The B1 is one of the Hornby ones renumbered as a 64B one. Cheers Ian H
  3. One of the biggest problems with turntables is getting them to line up with the exit roads, to this end I decided on the Fleischmann model as it always lines up perfectly. As it is of 'continental' origion I went to town on it with the old minidrill and 'Anglosized' it this has met with widespread approval at shows attended. Whilst I understand its still not fully British at least it looks the part but more importantly it always lines up when in the heat of battle at a show. This is the turntable I refer to
  4. Hi David, Very impressed with your efforts, I will watch with interest its development. Have you given any thought to what turntable you will use? I don't know if you've seen the one that Metalsmith Ltd are develpoing at the moment I think its exactly what you need for Haymarket . Take a look MetalSmith Ltd. Kettering NN16 8NS England http://www.metalsmith.co.uk/4mm_scale_00_EM_P4.htm Cheers Ian H (Haymarket Cross)
  5. Here we go again, there I am buying one of these super locos thinking what a superb model Hornby have given us only to find (according to our Rmweb experts) I,ve bought a bum steer! Why do Hornby (and Bachmann) keep producing models that are 'wrong'? I for one thank Simon Kohler & his team for yet another great model, for me its just what I want. With a little light weathering, driver/fireman & working loco lamps it will fit in perfectly on my layout. Can I suggest in future to avoid errors been made by the above manufacturers our Rmweb experts contact them to 'put them right' when producing new models. I look forward to the comments on the new B17 when it finally arrives. silverlink
  6. I'm sure its been mentioned somewhere on here but whats the format for sending back these faulty locos? do you send the whole loco including the box? or just the chassis. I have two that are faulty one of which has cracked the body the other just the chassis is faulty. silverlink
  7. Brian, just be thankful it's not the same one that was resposible for the Bachmann A2! how long did we have to wait for that model?silverlink
  8. I still think this is an awful lot of work, centralising the seep, adding extra microswitchs & making sure it is stuck in place, more wires & resistors. It still doesn't address the problem of the contacts touching each other & causing a short. As I said in thread six we had around thirty of these fitted on our club layout and they were nothing but trouble. Having changed to Cobalts the problem with frog polarity has been eradicated. Now if you have bought lots of Seep's then forget all I am saying, good luck with trying to wire them. If you still need more then why not try a Tortoise or Cobalt, no need for any extra's all the switches are built in, also, and I think this is the clincher, they are extremely reliable. silverlink
  9. From experience I will never use Seep point motors again! reason for this is we fitted around 30 of these to our club layout and they did nothing but cause problems. Main one been the frog polarity (the layout is full DCC) we are using Peco track & points and the switch over for the frog is so delicate it would sometimes stick across the terminals causing a short. We tried everything to rectify it but to no avail. I see you are wanting to add lights etc, as mentioned in thread 4 Tortoise motors spring to mind. I use these on my exhibition layout and they are brilliant, you can wire up the frog polarity change, add LED's (without resistors) for direction change on your panel and still have another switch for signals (resistor required) cost around £13. Also very reliable and you will have points working like the real railway. At our club we have gone over to Cobalts which work just like the tortoise but are smaller, we bought ours from Modelmarket who have an internet shop for around £14. The nice thing with this type of point motor you don't have to buy extra bits and pieces to add on to get them to do what you want. cheers silverlink

    Hornby B1

Have just spent the last two days playing around with my new Hornby version, new numbers, 50A shedplate, late crest & working LED front & rear lamps, Decoder is Lenz standard+ . I am taking it to my local club tonight to give it a run so will report back with pictures hopefully tomorrow. silverlink

I have one or two B1 pictures which I took in the early 60's this is 61269 with riveted door hinges at York silverlink

    Hornby B1

Come on lads, give Hornby a chance! have just purchased a couple from my local model shop & I think they're great. When I look back to the 60's & even the 80's at what we had then there is no comparison with the models of today. It just shows how far ready to run has come on when you're arguing over the amount of rivets on a chimmny! Let me ask you this, how many original bits are there still left on Flying Scotsman? how many loco's came out of Doncaster after general repair with other loco parts fitted? hundreds I would say. silverlink
  13. Have just recieved an email from one of the other people who were duped by this crook, it reads as follows: Dear silverlink60014, Hi Ian an update re locos not received Bristol Police have been on the case for 3 months and have tried to execute 6 yes 6 arrest warrants against 'hardworkingtaxpayer' but she's scarpered back to Poland However the case has been filed and will be re-opened if and when she returns to the UK Bruce Not ill, not dead just b*****ed off back to Poland !!! silverlink

    Hornby B1

Now that would be great, well remember these at Scarborough always in and out on the York trains. We had 61445 shedded here for years and never really bothered when it came past on a train. Another class that would have been worth doing is the K1 alas not to be. Still I'm sure the B1 will be most welcome on 'Haymarket Cross' silverlink

    Hornby B1

I hope we don't end going down the same road as the Bachmann A2's, they took two years before we saw them! I suppose whenever it's a model you really want they always seem to take forever to appear. silverlink
  16. I am proud to say I was there at the beginning in 1961 & at the end 1982. My first cop was D9001 which you can see on my thread 'In the beginning' around Easter 1961 followed by D9000 shortly after. I was there at York on that freezing day was it Dec 1981 or early Jan 1982 for the last run north & return. I then visited Doncaster to see them all lined up on the scrap line. I always liked the BR Green best. D9000 YORK 1961 COMPLETE WITH HEADLIGHT 55022 SCARBOROUGH 1981
  17. I read on another Ebay thread a suggestion that we should start a 'Bad Ebayer' list. Great idea this! perhaps a list of 'what to do's' should you be dupped. I agree no names just the Ebay user name which could be put on a special easy to access listing with nothing else but the name, perhaps in alphabetical order. Someone, I am sure will know good links on Ebay to enable us to contact correct departments at Ebay should you need help. Not sure how we stand legally on doing this, any thoughts ? Cheers silverlink

    Hornby B1

Really looking forward to this model, the B1 will really fit in well on my East coast mainline dcc exhibition layout. Having a large collection of both Hornby & Bachmann loco's the big advantage with Hornby is the fact they fit pickups in their tenders. Why Bachmann don't do the same is beyond me, I also remember a couple of years ago talking to Graham Hubbard of Bachmann at Warley where I asked him about an updated DCC ready B1, he said they had no plans to develop a DCC fitted chassis B1!!!. I also understand they are not going to update the body along with their new chaasis's. I suppose all this plays nicely into Hornbys hands! On a slightly different thread I was in Olivia's Trains of Sheffield last week where I was shown a very nice K1. It had been build using a Bachmann B1 body which had been cut down and married to a 2-6-0 loco drive chassis ( can't quite remember which one but think it was a SR one) it looked stunning. I think I will have a look at maybe doing one myself. Cheers silverlink
  19. Colin, not deaf just suspicious, I did respond in post seven of ths thread that I take the point of perhaps illness or worse happening however, I did notice in another of the negative feedback comments that hardworkingtaxpayer uses been on holiday as an excuse for not sending out goods which is what he said to me when I emailed him after my purchase. My above post was not necessarily aimed at this Ebayer but a general observation. silverlink
  20. One of the things I have difficulty understanding is the lack of contact information from many Ebay sellers. As I have used Ebay for a few years now under my 'Peasholm Models' banner I have always been up front with all I sell. I have full contact details available including Tel number should purchaser want to contact me. Of course most times this isn't needed as when a purchaser emails me through Ebay I always respond to them. I always wonder why many sellers don't want us to have their tel numbers. Perhaps it's just my suspicious nature ! silverlink
  21. Normally I wouldn't buy from anyone with bad feedback so I was racking my brains as to why I had bought from this one. I relised I had, when going to bid at the end of June checked his feedback & found it to be 100% positive. The penny dropped when I noticed all the negative feedbacks coming in in the middle to end of July some three weeks later. I then emailed the seller to no avail & at this point relised I'd been well & truly duped !!! I'm not sure if all the other people that lost out had fallen for the same type of add which read 'please be aware this item will be posted between 24 & 28 days after purchase please do not bid if you do not agree to conditions'. I think he's now been removed from Ebay Hurrah !!! silverlink
  22. For more than 35 years now I have been selling 'Super Detail' Limited Edition loco's. I first started by attending Swap meets (Doncaster & York) where I would put a price on the stock but would always be prepared to negotiate. After relising the cost to myself in petrol stall hire & time away from home I decided to try Ebay. For me it has been pretty good & I have sold many 'Limited Edition' loco's under my 'Peasholm Models' banner with many buyers purchasing other loco's at later dates. The BIG difference between myself & other so called 'Limited Edition' sellers is all my stock goes on Ebay with a starting price of just 99p ! NO SILLY BY-IT-NOW PRICES & NO RESERVE PRICE. At the end of the day the value of the loco which tend to be A4, A3, & A1's is what the highest bidder thinks it is worth to him or her, sometimes a loco will not relise what I think its worth & other times it sells for more. As I have to purchase my stock from shops (I am not in the trade) If the loco sells low I have to stand the loss, thats how it is however, it is very rare for that to happen as I have always been up front with everything I do & find buyers extremely happy with their purchases. silverlink
  23. Your'e quite right Pete it doesn't, my mistake ! I was so annoyed with this seller I forgot all about the previous experence which did happen some few years ago now. Cheers silverlink
  24. Hi, just to bring you up to date with this thread. I am pleased to say that Ebay have decided in favour of the buyer (me) & have given me a total refund. It would have been nice to get the loco but at least I'm not out of pocket. This is the second time this has happened to me, the first time was when I won some instuctions for one of the rare Hornby Dublo loco's & I never ever got them or a refund (cheque payment). I understand from other Hornby Dublo collectors that guy was really bad! & to make thing worse he gets taken off Ebay & then rejoins as someone else ! so you never know until it's to late you have fallen into the trap again. Luckilly my loss was only for around £7. I take the point about illness or worse. Cheers silverlink
  25. Please, please, please watch out for anything for sale from this Ebay seller 'hardworkingtaxpayer' I purchased a Bachmann A2 in June & still have not recieved it. He will not respond to emails & on looking have found the last ten purchasers have not recieved their goods either. Yes I know, I should have checked the feedback but was so pleased at getting the loco I forgot to look. I have been buying & selling for quite a while now & this is the first time anything like this has happened to me. I have registered a complaint with ebay & hope as I paid with Paypal I will get a refund. I still can't understand why Ebay have not removed the guy.. Cheers silverlnk
