I wouldn't be so sure. Older tooling seems to last much longer in general then newer tooling. Look at how much use Hornby has made of some of the ex-Lima tooling - they may be more primitive in terms of detail but the models are still crisp. The same goes for the last run of Mk2Ds. No a reason not to retool though.

You can make tools from steel or from aluminum. The former will stand the test of time.

Something has changed the website in the last few minutes as I did it twice and both times the carbon thing appeared out of nowhere, once when I ordered and then again when I created a new order before I posted to the forum. Each time I just selected one product, went to cart and straight to the checkout where it was sitting in the cart bit on the right. It did not appear on the cart page at all.

Right now there is no check box I can see on the cart page (see below). So not sure what is going on but I definitely did not tick any boxes to get the carbon thing to appear. The good news is having repeated the process the carbon thing no longer appears.

    Cart page just now.

If this issue has been removed then great work addressing it so quickly. I was logged in when I did the first two orders (one paid and completed, one aborted) so if you want to check the web log and tell me I did something wrong then no worries, always happy to eat humble pie if I've messed up!

No changes have been made Tony. Perhaps clear your cache / cookies? Once you tick the box it remains active for your session.

If you order items as normal, the climate donation does not appear in your cart when you see it before you go to the checkout.  It is only when you get to the actual checkout page that it mysteriously appears, eve nthough you have already checked the cart. To then get rid of it you have to go back out of the checkout and into the cart again to remove it, to then re-enter the checkout. I have just checked this as I had the scam item appear automatically without warning or consent in my cart just now and ended up paying it as I couldn't see how to remove it in the checkout. So saying it is "completely optional" is technically correct but somewhat disingenuous. It is added without warning or consent and requires several additional steps, which are not made clear, to remove it.

I thought that sort of behaviour had been ruled illegal after Sports Direct and their infamous mugs? It is certainly not ethical retail practice.

    Hi Tony

The voluntary customer option is a checkbox on the cart page.

Don’t click it and it won’t be added.

    Thats the default.

Regardless of customers choosing to contribute we make one for every order regardless.

    Hope that helps clarify.

Many thanks to McC for his contact, it is appreciated.

What do you suggest to "reach out" please? I know there have been comments on here about the blanking plug, but of course I would imagine that is not a universal answer? Anyway, thanks again & please message me and let me know your suggestion/s.

    Many thanks in advance,

    rxmoordave

    Hi Ray, (Silver Sidelines),

I'm glad I'm not the only one to be a little disappointed by the start & stop characteristics of the Manor. Mine does exactly the same (DC) - a sudden start, rather than a gradual, slow respionse (ditto sudden stop-in reverse obviously!), and that is after carefully running in using Gaugemaster controllers. I have mentioned this previously and confess to still feeling let down slightly. I may be fussy, but after paying a high price for a newly designed loco, it should be possible - and expected - that the performance should be faultless - or as near as is possible to achieve. I have other steam models from both Hornby & Bachmann, which are much older and they display excellent performance throughout their range.

Have you reached out to support?

    Blimey.

If just half of what's been said about this guy is correct, he should be on the Government's "free bed and board" scheme.😁

If it’s the same person we would love to know his current location.

So, as I say, contrary to what the yellow card says, the NEM pockets do not appear to be correctly placed.

Is this also the case with the Mk1 coaches?

Not entirely sure how you are measuring but the sockets perfectly match the NEM guidelines.

The magnet couplers are set to couple the coaches as close together as possible to make sure there are no issues on R2 track. They are not related to the NEM standard. The short couplers are also set at a similar distance and are also designed to avoid issues on typical layout curves.

Both options are a significant improvement, we feel, on both NEM compliance and radius 2 compatible close coupling.

Feel free to drop our support team a note.

Ok this may be a bit soon but as I missed out on the BFKs in blue/grey (WR) any thoughts of a second run?

Absolutely. We plan to maintain stock availability as much as possible and the next run is already mapped out (and a few more after that, and more versions and variants etc). We will share more once decorated samples are in hand

I'm finding equally challenging in quality. The only advantage of Bachmann, is there is normally stock available to send back for a return (TPO and a Class 47 both being recent examples where it has take 2-3 attempts to get one without decoration flaws). Accurascale by contrast, with so many models sold out on pre-orders is an unknown amount of time under repair....

For the sake of accuracy our warranty team have a dedicated stock allocated and can exchange models from that. Repair is an absolute last resort in any case. HTH.

Just received a Lokpilot decoder programmed for the 37. WAs a bit disappointed it did not come with a specification booklet and a functions list? I presume the booklet can be downloaded from ESU but is there an online Accurascale function list?

There is also a hard copy included with your Class 37 Booklet pack.

This is your exhibition layout, isn't it Andy?  I remember seeing it and being really impressed.  Good stuff!

To Accurascale, can I just ask if all the packaging materials used are recyclable and does that apply to all those used previously as well?

I have real problems at times determining which can and which can't go in our recycling bin from all suppliers - e.g. scared to put the wrong kind of polystyrene beading / bubble wrap into the bins for fear of being fined!

As said once before though, some boxes make great storage boxes for paints, parts, decoders, etc..

Glad you're supporting the environmental push and as you say, likely to become more and more legislated against, so good to get ahead before then.

    Thanks,

    Ixion.

Absolutely, all of our packaging is fully recyclable, including the black foam inserts, clamshells and all documentation (and indeed pretty much all of the models themselves) and we're now moving / have moved to a card end cap and matching card box for customer shipping, which negates the need for any infill. We're exploring other measures to further improve the efficiency in these areas.

We work closely with our factory partners, most of whom carry a lot more ISO certifications and climate credentials than we do (yet) and do our upmost to minimise our impact where we can. It's a constant battle of small wins but eventually, like saving those pennies, or getting your cash back points on purchases, those little wins add up to something meaningful over time.

It's worth the reiteration that this is not any kind of 'offset' scheme or greenwash, rather we are pooling with other shopify powered providers, to directly invest into carbon capture tech and solutions in a meaningful way (as a first step) and that the investments will grow over time into other relevant areas.

From a customers point of view there is ZERO impact, no prices have moved, we still don't charge you for delivery at all (in the UK, other limits apply :) ) and everything is and was as before, just we're taking a % of our margin and trying to use it to negate the carbon / energy used in getting you those parcels of joy.

    Hi Accurascale,

Just wanted to ask if you will have Class 66 parts available for purchase in the future for those who, like myself, have the previous Hattons 66's where retro-fitting is a possibility?

I'm primarily referring to parts such as sand pipes, cab/cab front hand rails, grills, bogie steps/step handrails but more importantly the axle boxes as they look even more refined than the previous Hattons offering and would assume they can be used on the Hattons 66 as replacements or if some go missing.

If you could advise that would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers Steve

Yes, we're actively working on a spares website.

My example of 66001 arrived yesterday and whilst it looks and runs fantastic I have had a couple of issues. The first is a high pitch whine when moving and wagons coupled to it will derail on 2nd and 3rd radius curves, this seems to be caused by the coupling having restricted movement so its pulling the wagon off to the outside of the curve and off the track.

    Hi there

Have you dropped a line to support? Ideally including a video. We can then advise if there is a fault 👍
