I’m sure that wasn’t what the early loksound 5 manuals said…

I’m confirming the actual information frrom the horses mouth and why the ESU specification changed following component changes (and subsequent firmware updates from ESU for those loksounds) rather than perpetuating any misinformation :)  Thise changes are why some 30k locos are running great with the original specification and why we now use an updated specification. All of which have been designed and specified by ESU themselves. 👍👍

The Loksound can handle 4ohms perfectly fine, the issue was until the 66 Accurascale's speaker setup (an 8ohm and 4ohm speaker in parallel) meant the resistance was 2.something which is outside the official ESU specs (but unofficially ESU say it was fine).

With the new speaker being 8ohm it means the sound fitted models will be running at 4ohm with both speakers in, sound mean the 37 for example won't need the volume reduced to avoid cut outs from overloading the amp. Quite tempted to get one of the new speakers for my 37 just for peice of mind.

Not technically true, as posted earlier the components on the loksound changed during the period and tolerances changed as a result. The original speakers work perfectly well

as configured with the ‘matching’ loksounds but the new version works better with the 8ohm.

Without going through reams of thread on the 37 I think it was someone into the electronics had picked up the resistance on the system should be 8ohms for ESU  themselves had stated that so perhaps why it’s changed,I doubt it has any bearing on loud or quiet and I guess only the dog has hearing good enough to notice

Earlier PCBs (and indeed ESU Loksound V5 chips) have different components, and therefore tolerances to more recent versions. While the 4Ohm worked amazingly on the earlier config, the tolerance change means the newer configurations work better and more reliably with the 8Ohm version. Nothing else has changed and you can still use 4Ohms in all earlier locos, as well as 8Ohms, should you prefer.

Thanks Stephen. I did look at that earlier but it doesn’t advise if it’s a two part delivery. I’ve tried also getting in touch with Key Publishing but they haven’t responded as yet. Hopefully they do over the next day or two. Looking forward to them arriving👍🏻

Here’s the update from June https://www.accurascale.com/blogs/news/blue-brians-class-31-production-update

Blue ones are en route then the next batch will ship and then the exclusives and commissions.

Having just seen the production samples of the next batch an update i’m sure will be shortly with any update on shipping timings.

I noticed from the last update on the website that delivery of the Coal sector 31 was late 2023. Obviously things change but what is the current projected delivery schedule now? Is it still a case of split run with the coal one in the second batch?

    Cheers

    Hi,

I bought the Model Rail Bachmann Class 37 DRS 37409 some time ago and have never had the chance to run it until recently so it has been on static display. It is a DCC Sound supplied loco.

Having now tried it out on a rolling road and after running in, the sound stutters quite badly when the loco wheels are in motion. When stationary the sound is OK.

With the wheels in motion the sound breaks up fairly frequently and sometime sound effects are so chopped up they are just white noise. Bringing the loco wheels to a halt returns the sound to tickover and it is once again OK.

The loco wheels and rolling road are clean and the wheel motion is constant when the sound is affected. I have an Accurascale Class 37 available and sound on the Accurascale works fine when plonked on the rolling road set up. I realise that the Accurascale technology is a newer generation and this swapover isn't telling me much...!

I've not yet opened up the loco... does anyone have any ideas what I should be looking for if I do, or can I just jump to the conclusion that the sound chip might be the problem?

    Roger

Perhaps the wheels / pickups need some cleaning? A wheel cleaner may clean up any oxidation that may have arisen in storage. The accura 37 has a stay alive built in so will mask any connectivity or power continuity issues. Hope that helps.

These notifications probably are worthwhile.  But if you start sending too many emails, you run the risk that what you send gets treated as junk mail.  You need to limit the overall volumes of messages.  It's not an easy balance to get right.

The status updates happen once when the model is in production, again when in transit and finally when in stock. Three emails per order over 6-12 months in practice.

The same status engine also provides at a glance view of your order in the ‘Order Status’ page via the account area which coupled with the project status page should provide clarity and help set expectations on delivery times.

As always we would really appreciate and value any and all feedback or suggestions to help improve our clarity and comms.

Accurascale use SHOP too, its legit but was a bit disconcerting at first when you opened the AS website, logged in and you get a verification code notification from the SHOP app on the phone, quite a few small business use it, I’ve had 3D prints and car bits via it ordered from the app rather than the companies website direct

Shop and ShopPay and parts of Shopify. The most common e-commerce platform on the planet and the ‘plumbing’ behind most of the online shops you buy from. Hope that helps!

If in doubt I've been able to message support in the past and they basically put it in purgatory at their end. It was then shipped when I confirmed I was able to receive shipments again.

Exactly this. Drop us a line and we can simply hold the parcel.

Good question, as the AS status page states ETA Q2 2024, but they're not showing as in transit, unlike the 31s and 37s.

More a case of me being on holiday the last few weeks and the page not updated :) We’re a small company after all not a PLC :) Normal service and comprehensive updates will be forthcoming. These are something truly special and have to be seen to be appreciated!

This is a disadvantage of the trend to oversize packaging for model locomotives.

The newer style of packaging used by Accurascale, Hornby and I believe Cavalex certainly adds a feeling of having bought something special and a bit of 'wow' factor but if you start accumulating a few of them that's a lot of volume to stow somewhere.

The box for the latest Rivarossi Big Boy is verging on ridiculous IMo. Yes it's a big model but the box is nearer in size to a trainset box than a locomotive box.

This seems counter to a few other sectors where there have been trends to pare back packaging.

Bear in mind that a modern loco like say, the accurascale Class 60 weighs nearly 800g and is jam packed with complex electronics and speakers and features and is made of upwards of 400 component parts.

Add that to the modern courier system and you would much rather that complex, heavy model arrived intact.

accurascale packaging is 100% recyclable in any green bin service

Superb products and high quality packaging with excellent presentation value,

you just know there will be something special inside. But can the boxes be made smaller?

I have a Manor, EE Type 3, a syphon and three sets of  three wagons, and those boxes alone

have filled a cupboard and that's without anyone else's boxes.

    Not a moan, just a plea !

    Wishing all at Accurascale well.

After liberal and extensive testing the short answer is ‘no’. Our boxes are big and luxurious but most importantly of all have been fully tested for our stock and locomotive weight ranges to effectively guarantee safe and secure delivery to you.

The couplings on my FNA wagons were already broken in the bag.  They are made from some kind of brittle white styrene and then spray painted to look dark brown or black.  So i think the problem with the couplings maybe systemic across the Accurascale range range.  So i used Bachmann couplings instead.  I did not want to risk something getting stuck in the sockets.  If the plastic is bad then its likely the metal for the hooks could be substandard as well... Accurascale do need to look into it.

Systemic would be a bit of a reach considering our stock and locos comes from no less than 6 factories some of which are over a thousand miles apart. If you’re seeing any issue at all, talk to support. We have a lifetime warranty and will happily replace any couplings that go rusty, as long as you’ve not been playing with them in the bath :)

yeah that’s got it, even clicking accurascale last night didn’t bring anything up

Probably sold out but worth checking with them. 66 has been even faster seller than the 37 which was the fastest selling model of last year! Thank you all for your support!

Not sure how you did that but looking at my 4 those exhausts are impossible to take off without the possibility of breaking them, but you are right the latches/brackets are vibrating against the panel but it appears to be only on one side where they sit slightly higher due to the exhaust being fitted slightly off centre of the recess as per my post with photos.

Hi Classy. As before we’d welcome you sending us a ticket to take a closer look as we’ve had a sum total of two tickets about vibrations to date so it’s hard to build a case for feedback. Appreciate it!

My DRS 66 arrived today. My third model of this class and another fantastic model.

However, the packaging was very poor indeed. No Accurascale end protectors and the box had been rattling about in the package with no 'air' pocket padding doing its job at all as it had all burst.

thankfully, the loco is undamaged and whilst this is the first time ive ever had a package like this delivered its worth Accurascale noting that their packing dept just need an eye keeping on them. The thousands of models that are delivered arrive in excellent condition but on this occasion neither the box ends nor padding were present.

other than that, a superb loco chaps.

    top marks yet again.

Sorry about that. Unfortunately we ran out of end caps due to the surge of locos and hit a snag with the lead time on more. All will be sorted for the 37’s which are mere weeks away now and the 31 likewise.

Hi Fran. Thanks for that buddy. I really appreciate it. Okay, so I tried to pre-order my trio of 60's but it wants my debit card details. Is there no PayPal option anymore for pre-orders? Or is there a bug somewhere? I would like to secure them for the time being. Thanks for understanding :).

Preorders take card details to secure the order but no payment of any kind is taken. (Like booking a hotel room)

Once the goods are here you can pay now using all supported methods, including card, paypal, paypal credit, clearpay.
