    Top Gear?

Hi Best thing BBC could do now is beg Clarkson & Co to come back Ian
  2. Why o why do people have to rubberneck on motorways, I turned on to the M4 this morning at Junction 48 and came to a stand on the slip road, it took me 10 minutes to get on to the M4 itself then a further 25 minutes to travel the 5 miles to junction 47 nose to tail at 10 or so MPH, the reason a bump on the opposite carriageway and people slowing down to have a look, once passed the bump everyone speeded up to normal. very irritating, grrrrrrrrrrr Ian
  3. Hi The other thing to remember is that auto signals would only be used on plain line, if there is any pointwork ahead of the signal then that would be a controlled signal, all be it some of which have the facility for auto working. Ian
  4. Hi Jaggzuk interesting to see your revised circuit, but, all you've really done is turn signal 2 into a 2 aspect distant signal, in which case signalling wise signal 1 would also have been a 2 aspect signal. In any case prototypically there wouldn't have been an auto signal as close to the station as Llanbournes is. Ian
  5. Hi Peter Here is a wiring diagram for 3 aspect signals, hope you understand it as my drawing skills are not the best. Basically each square represents a double pole on/on type switch, with the switch of signal 1 on then it is showing Red as are all the other signals, when you throw signal switch 1 the aspect displayed will then depend on the position of switch 2, if switch 2 is up with signal 2 at red then throwing switch 1 will cause a yellow to be displayed in signal 1 until switch 2 is thrown at which point signal 1 will go green and signal 2 will show yellow or green depending on the position of switch 3 and so on. You will need a double pole on/on switch for each signal plus an extra switch for the storage yard to represent the next signal down the line otherwise you last visible signal will only ever show a yellow. alternatively the last visible signal could just be a 2 aspect so the wiring from the pole of the last switch would go to the green and not the yellow. Hope this helps. Ian
  6. Hi Peter there is a way of doing it using double pole on off switches for each signal, I'll try and draw a diagram for you ian
  7. Hi All Is the Bachmann Iron ore tippler suitable for use as a ZKV Barbel please or is the underframe or axleboxes wrong? Ian
  8. Hi A few more of my scans, this time departmental units TDB 975659 at Newport March 88 TDB 975023 west of Pembrey Feb 87 # Incidentally as an aside, this view is obscured now by a new housing estate which has the main road in front of it, the mainline behind, a racing circuit half a mile down the road and the RAF bombing ranges across the estuary and someone with a sense of humour has called the estate Tranquility! Next up 977391 stabled outside the panel box at Cardiff Finally two shots of 950001, at Pembrey in March 88 taken from the signalbox and crossing from the down platform to the up at Llanelli Ian

  19. Hi Tony A quick question for you(or anyone else who may know the answer), I've just been reading your Green-Blue Transitions Bookazine and on page 26 the caption to the photo of the deltic on the Scotsman in 1966 states you believe this was the last summer the winged thistle headboard was carried, do you know if all the deltics were still in green at this time or is there any record of the thistle haedboard being carried by a blue deltic please? Ian
