  1. If done in the right material it's near enough a finished item, FUD/FXD is the preferred as it will retain rivet detail (which does show).
  2. Depending on what you're modelling, if a layout I'd be careful of too many windows, one reason is security the other is UV damage.
  3. I have a feeling his other videos have pies in them....I hope...
  4. What's the issue with them ? You can still read the lettering on the under frame !
  5. What on earth has supply chain logistics got to with an energy supplier ?
  6. Episodes of Endeavour always have a references to other works. There's been Kate Bush's 'Hounds of love' (It's in the trees...it's coming..) from the one with the tiger as well as a nod to Terry Pratchett where Insp Thursday says he was given advice by Commander Vimes (of the Watch in Discworld) A few others I can't think of right now.
  7. If you go to your profile. click on 'edit my profile' then click on 'signature' and you can add links & text there.
  8. Is that Norfolks one and only Motorway ?
  9. I Pm'd Simon and we'll look at this when we discuss how the show went.....which we thought was pretty darned good...
  10. Hi Simon. I was on the door on Saturday, did you make any of the EBMRS stewards aware ? I must admit that later in the day I was talking to Robin on Rolvenden and was operating is Manning Wardle when a child kept insisting he operate it, but as everyone was ignoring him I made a presumption he was known to the operators. I'm guessing now they were taking the line of least resistance. I would say there was no way he was wrestling the controller from my hands !
  11. Being on the door all day I always ask for comments as people leave. All comments were positive with the 2 P4 layouts scoring very highly. For me, I liked Richmond but Rolvenden just pipped it to the post, that might have something to do with Robin giving me the controls for a spin with a superb Manning Wardle (his next project....watch this space....or go to Scaleforum). For a one day show we try and have really good quality layouts and Dick and Alastair work very hard in that respect tracking them down. All the layouts present had admirers which shows the get it right and we hope the exhibitors (and traders) had a good day as well as all those who attended. Next years date is 16th February 2019.
  12. As an update to that sale, I sent her a link to the Royal Mail prices schedule and the weight and she paid, did take a few days though.
  13. I can confirm that this evening we set up Tony and Mo's bench and chairs. After a lot of deliberation it was decided that the barriers weren't needed and it should be fine to have the general public in close proximity to Tony.....we've kept them close by just in case though.
  14. I follow a lot of the instruction which Mike Trice laid out in various threads such as this. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/114528-using-inkscape-to-produce-cutting-files-a-worked-example/?hl=inkscape Personally I would have imported the drawing and scaled it to the required size rather than the other way around. I suppose you could open another layer and draw an outline at the required scale then resize your drawing to that, but it might well be out of shape if you're not careful. I'm sure someone here has much more knowledge to help you.
  15. I can see where this confusion comes from. I took that as a suggestion. Again, is this a suggestion that it is a better alternative.
  16. Not really , there's some numpties that should pay attention, which is pretty much like every other country I've visited. As for several maximum speeds on one sign, that's a recipe for confusion. The NSL sign has worked for a long time, those that don't understand it shouldn't be on the road.
  17. I'll just comment on your first line. I drive a Nissan Cabstar truck rated at 3400kg, so I'm restricted. While picking up sand a few months ago I got into conversation with the driver in front of me who said that when he's loaded he struggles to get 65 out of his Transit, I said that didn't really matter as we were only supposed to be 60 on the road when we left the yard. He looked at me with a puzzled look and said he had no idea of that. When we went back in to collect the paperwork for loading we asked who else realised that vehicles such as ours were subject to different speed limits and about half (5) didn't. The worrying thing there was that 2 of the drivers were those that worked for the plant hire company we were picking up from, and drove the smaller delivery lorries similar to mine. So in answer to "any driver would know that' I'd say they probably wouldn't.
  18. I'm always impressed with the speed with which you can use Templot, I'm slow but getting there....
  19. Breathes deeply.............nope not going to get lured in again.... Shakes head and walks away......
  20. I've not had a problem with GSP either. If a bidder wants to combine postage I've been able to send a separate invoice to them for multiple purchases and they've paid it and ignored the GSP invoice. I did that only last week on 3 albums sold to the US and 2 to France. I do have at the moment a buyer in Italy who thinks that not only is the cost of GSP too much, but also the cost of Royal Mail international, even though I've sent the link to their prices.
  21. Slightly off topic but I sold a house to a chap who worked in TV news, he told me about which character was based on which newsreader in "Drop the dead donkey".....Anna Ford didn't come out well....
  22. Looking forward to seeing this one 'in the flesh' as well as 'Rolvenden' Once the doors open I don't get much time so have to make the most of set up.
  23. Aaaah yes. As a kid I could only spot the different radiator grills.
  24. In pedant mode. Wasn't it a Morris 1100/1300 ?
