  1. I know a few who would of had the telegraph pole down for the perfect shot.
  2. Coming along nicely Phil, you're making better progress than I as I'm still a way off scenery with 30+ Tortoise still to fit, and electrickery on 5 boards as well as the last 2 boards of track to lay. Admiitedly it's an overhead shot but the Jubilee looks good
  3. Hi Mike. On the first bit, sadly it wouldn't matter whether they were in a shed or the Tower of London, insurance companies don't like insuring tools as they are just too easy to take. I roll all my insurance up into a contractors policy which includes things like the digger, tools on site as well as the part built building, but try as hard as I can I can't get them to add them when they are stored at home. I pay £550 a year for that. For the second part, not strictly true, as ever getting a letter from planning saying what you can or can't do.
  4. Arlesey, a meer whippersnapper compared to Sandy.
  5. I'm sure there was a couple of BBC progs in the 80's called something like "Little Train to Lynton" and then "Perchance it is not dead but sleepeth" Always remember them as good programmes
  6. Listening in as a visitor in Lincoln Crown Court on Friday, it certainly still happens in some parts of the country !
  7. Looking good, make sure the T&G is pushed up tight when you fix it as it will undoubtably shrink a small amount. Thought about a finish to it ? there are some pretty good water based sealers/varnish which apply nicely. I always fit oak doors in the new builds and use a satin finish one (Sadolin) looks good and it's proved hard wearing, although I'd shop around as for a large area it could be a bit pricey.
  8. Is it less 3 1/2% when you use it though.
  9. At least your inside. I'm in the office having to watch the brickie outside trying to avoid the rain . . I bet he's really wet. .
  10. I'll send you a copy of Animal Farm.
  11. This isn't about someones Driving Standards but more the plonkers that also use the road for some other odd reasons. Earlier today we were on the outskirts of Peterborough, on the A47 there is a roundabout at Castor where the westbound A47 changes from Dual to single carriageway, we approached the roundabout from Castor intending to turn West and head for the A1, as I got nearer there was a man standing on the traffic island on the A47 in t shirt, shorts and flip flops holding a camera, as we got closer it became obvious that he was taking a picture of someone on a horse which was at the Northern junction of the roundabout. The cameraman kept getting the rider to turn the horse so he could get a better shot but the traffic was making the horse skittish. The more this went on the more frustrated the cameraman got, he was seemingly oblivious to the volume of traffic trying to use the roundabout inc many heavy lorries,no idea how long it went on for as Lady Bacon and I sped off home with this scenario in the rear view mirror. Apart from a dodgy overtaking manouvre which put a Nisan Note in the ditch and flicking the V's at a couple of old farts it was an uneventful trip back in the Merc.
  12. I don't see that there should be a real problem with them, Resin is used in so many items that are subject to heat and stress without issue. What could be a problem ?
  13. You mean 4" x 2" here.. if you mean the real size thing it's generally 95mm x 47mm as it's milled for regularity but it can vary depending on whether you're buying treated or untreated, although sold as 4x2 it's milled in metric. (It used to be 102mm x 51mm when sold as imperial) We also use a lot of CLS now for internal studwork, this comes out at 90mm x 40mm for the 4x2 equivalent.
  14. That would make them a revenue stream rather than a deterent. Back on topic.
  15. I've seen a similar filler but they used Bicarb of soda instead of talc. Unless you're using up supplies of "Brut" or "Hai karate" talc. . .
  16. I'm not picking on you specifically TotP but I've seen and heard this many times. In a nutshell we live in a country where if you have the means you can purchase whatever you want to do any job you want. If this means buying a 4x4 car and using it to do journeys that don't require the 4x4 part then what does it matter ? I have to say that I've looked at a range Rover before as I quite like the spec you get with them but ended up with a Merc C Class, why should I not be allowed to purchase the RR if I wanted to even though it wouldn't ever go "Off Road". On the occasional time the subject has come up in conversation, a few questions soon elicit the real reason why some people are against others having what they want and sadly safety is not it.
  17. As most heat loss is through the roof with the walls coming a close second, the floor can be less. As an example in the last bungalow we had 300mm of wool in the ceiling (which would be something like 150mm of Celotex/dense foam), 100mm wool in the cavity (50mm foam) whereas in the floor it was 50mm Celotex. There are other things taken into consideration in the calculation such as what blocks but you get the idea. What you can look at for the floor which is a lot cheaper is polystyrene (Minimum 50mm) http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-50mm-General-Purpose-Polystyrene-1200x2400mm/p/210824 Have a shop around and see what you can find, remember it's just like Celotex, waste nothing by adding all the small bits together. One tip is to put a bit of batten (offcuts and split bits) along the sides of the joists at the bottom as this stops the insulation from dropping through which it can do as floors flex.
  18. The seconds are missing the foil, but for a shed it won't make too much difference there's something like a £140 saving there which is quite a bit. At present I'm building a brick clad timber frame around a swimming pool, it has 100mm celotex between the studs and 25mm all over and around here the cheapest price is from Wickes of all places. I spend upwards of £50,000 a year in the merchants but I still check around for prices. Can't afford not to.
  19. I actually thought Coach's driving might be a bit more like this.....
  20. But you'd never get to where you wanted to go ?
  21. Interesting, were you tacking or at full sail ?
  22. Just thought I'd edit it for you.
