I will admit to being a bit thick where electickery is concerned but I don't understand how you connect the + and- to create one bus? or does the digram not show there are 2 seperate wires? Edit - I think I've just worked it out..........sometimes I get there....

If the owner gets enjoyment from his "creation" and wants others to share in his happiness then where's the problem in that ? I'm quite pleased with what I'm building, but it is a world away from where I started or even not that long ago.

I have a Tortoise which is in an awkward position so used one of the Tortoise remote mounts* to overcome it, for one it's an easy solution for for several probably cheaper to buy the ply, paper and printer ink. I have had to alter it to suit as its operating mechanism is visible with their instructions but much easier for me with just one motor to deal with. *ordered from Digitrains at 11pm on a Sunday and in my hand on following Tuesday, excellent service.

There was a bit of a revolt when they took away the TUC biscuits, they had to put away the comment cards as all they had written on them were "No TUC biscuits = no blood" I reckon the Bourbons will be next.

Without being too nosey I'm guessing you get a blood product rather than a whole unit. I'm O neg so a universal donor, they always want people like me for whole units as in an emergency mine can be given to anyone without type matching.

I was thinking back to this. No, but a wide road that leads from and to the A1 He did. When I actually thought about it the scenario where the traffic officer said this was as they were watching drivers exit the A1 at the main roundabout in Sandy and think they were somehow still on a dual carriageway, most caught for overtaking were actually speeding and that was the offence they were prosecuted for, I'd forgotten that it was actually a speed trap. For a 30mph limit we regularly (thats many per hour) get people speeding in excess of 45-50 as they see a wide road and off they go. In another part of Sandy we have a road that serves industrial units that is long and straight (units one side and recreation ground the other) and when the Police set up there they catch so many at 50mph+ it's stupid. In the morning outside our house it is stationary traffice as it queues for the A1, as people encounter the back of the queue there is always a few that think they aren't going fast enough so attempt an overtake only to find there is no way back in and a mass of traffic heading towrds them. They're nearly as funny as the drivers working on laptops in the queue or reading a broadsheet newspaper, the best are the ones doing their make up though and there's just as many men as women

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you are allowed to overtake in a 30 limit as long as the vehicle in front is moving. You just have to wait,

By co-incedence I've just been reading "Thompson & Peppercorn" by Col H.C.B.Rogers, and in it C F Harrison confirms that Thompson had 18 A1's to choose from for rebuilding but specifically requested Great Northern. Many tried to persuade him otherwise but he would not change his mind and it was ultimately a board decision to use Great Northern. This could be read that the board agreed with Thompson, but then why employ him if you don't back his decisions. The book does also give the impression that Thompson gained credit for the B1 whilst taking very little part in its concept or design. It's an interesting read but like any book better to read several others to gain a more rounded opinion.

It may look like a massive mark up but the reality is that in the £200 difference is VAT, so the figure is nearer £160.00 then there's labour (don't forget that although an employer pays 52 weeks pay, 4 weeks of that time the employee will be on leave) then there is premises, tools, equipment (compressors & ramps) insurance, training and the list goes on, then finally at the end there is profit...oh no hang on then there's tax. Profit shouldn't be seen as an ugly word, without it there would be very few jobs about.

Looking for a Bedford St Johns pic I found this in the hard drive. I'm waiting for a reply back from someone I know in Willington, I spoke to him last week and he has a better copy of the ariel photo as well as at least one pic taken in the yard that shows the back (roadway) side of the station building.
