  1. We have a large shrub or bush next to my workplace and I sometimes see a whole gang of pieds in there squabbling with each other but like you I've rarely seen them come into gardens
  2. A brand new visitor to the bird feeders this evening. A Pied Wagtial, first one I have seen about the garden. Had to faff about to get the camera sorted out and working properly but a few decent pics
  3. It may well be the lens but I think they did have some quite close formation flying when they did the display and it was amazing how well they kept together considering their speed differences....one of the reasons they used the Mk XIX I presume.
  4. Cheating a little bit here as these are not really in my garden but when I lived in Carshalton I used to go down to Carshalton Park...known also has the ponds. To feed the geese and ducks with wild bird seed. Also fed the squrriels with peanuts. They all use to be quite happy eating out of your hand.
  5. Been able to access some of my photos from an old hard drive of the Biggin Hill air display back in 2007. So here are some of the joint display made by one of the BBMF Spitfire XIX's and a Eurofighter Typhoon.
  6. Are you saying my luscious, hairy legs couldn't stop the ladies passing by on the main road????
  7. They look great, nice and sharp. What equipment have you bought yourself? I really need to upgrade but I'll have to stand on the street corner and show a leg to be able to afford anything decent
  8. If you listen carefully to the stations mentioned by the trainspotter/railway enthusiast even St Trinian's Great Train Robbery got a link with the station names of Hammingwell Halt & Pudham

  10. Can I say that it was great seeing Stodden Hundred again and I got a few nice pics...the others were a bit out of focus, really need a new camera. It was also nice not to have a barrier in front of the layout as you could really get up close to see the great modelling. Obviously yes it can be very scary when very little fingers start appearing and holding onto the baseboard edge. Firmly on my favourite layouts list.
  11. Tha I'm afraid that I couldn't tell you that but if you PM me with your email address I can email you the PDF scan.
  12. Staindrop, one on my favourites list and a new one for the same list Portwenn
  13. Just back from the show and yet another good little show so a big well done to all the gents & ladies who organised things. Will post a few pics when I can get around to it.
  14. Chap next door to me has a very nice Austin Healey 3000 among his modern Land Rover Defenders. It sounds nice and just needs a bit of TLC to get it looking fab.
  15. I've just recently scanned some Leader plans in a 1990's Railway Modeller magazine....adjoining an article about scratch building a model if you are interested. The plans were to 4mm scale but may be of help when scaling up.
  16. Brilliant idea which harks back to the old days of getting a deposit back on your bottles from the corner shop. I want to get Britain to the top of the great world recycling list. Even I can remember...if only just as it was the 1970's of taking bottles of lemonade back to the corner shop and getting 3p back on them. I also wonder if it might be better that we swap back to using glass bottles more as they are easier to reuse and recycle. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-42953038 Urge anyone to also sign the government petition as well. 10,000 signatures needed before the government take any notice of it. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/200215
  17. I'd be interested in those and I'll send a PM at a later time
  18. Yes I think £40 just for the cab ends is a bit pricey as the rest of the kit will be unused. Yes sort of but my idea is that 4 car units were built in the immediate post war period '45-'46, Using Bulleid existing coaching stock design as a basis to partly supplement existing COR, LAV, HAL & BIL units and replace stock destroyed during the war. But it's all just a bit of playing about and nothing is written in stone yet.....I have to get the money sorted out to start doing this and some of the other ideas I'm having.
  19. I'm doing some early ponderings on building some "what if" train projects and one that has come to mind is a Bulleid outer suburban semi fast emu design, like a very early 4VEP unit. I'm planning to use the old Ian Kirk kits that Phoenix Precision are now reproducing as I'll need to modify the sides for some different seating arrangements and I think they will be easier to cut up. But my plan for the cab end is to use the same design as used on the Southern Railway 4 SUBS, rather than the BR design. https://www.flickr.com/photos/126254131@N05/33744673054 Does anyone produce a whitemetal, resin or plastic cab face to that design in 4mm. So far internet searches have proved a bit fruitless.
  20. Well the weather improved here last weekend and enough to get a few decent photos of one of the Robins in the garden
  21. Numerous other hobbies including model making...of the aeroplane variety, although not done any for some years but I have a big stash. Land Rovers, cycling, walking and the outdoors, photography and a bit of star gazing and moon gazing. Couple of moon shots from tonight of the super-ish moon. Couldn't get any of the blood moon as it was too low on the horizon and hidden by cloud.
  22. Interested in the London NE & NW so PM on it's way
  23. Sorry I don't know what happened but the pic didn't download or upload or whatever
  24. Are there any stamp collectors among our number? Only asking as I have had some parcels and letters arrive that have stamps on them that might be of interest to any collector. I did ask a serious stamp dealer/collector but he wasn't interested as he didn't think he'd make any serious money out of selling them. But if anyone here is starting a collection or a semi serious collector they are more than welcome to them....just need your name and address.
  25. Just been watching Sherlock Homes - A game of shadows. A couple of railway related scenes although I think a good part of it was CGI. First off is what looks like Kings Cross...with a number of trains in it including what looks like a 4-4-0 and a train of clerestory coaches. I would presume standing in for Victoria or London Bridge as the train was supposed to be going to Brighton and I think all CGI as no wires at Kings Cross. Also scenes shot at the Great Western Society, Didcot with some of the GWR engines thinly disguised as German engines and we are talking wafer thin. And I nearly forgot that Victoria bridge on the SVR makes an appearance as well when Watson's wife is thrown off a train.
