  1. Thank you both for your replies. I'll give it another day or so to see if I get a response.
  2. Has anyone had any dealings with this online retailer and, if so, were they satisfied? I recently ordered a simple item (Superquick brIck paper) but, despite an email (15th June) confirming the order .nothing has arrived. I have contacted them and am awaiting a response.
  3. I'm in the process of turning two old Triang BSK's into an SK and I'll be fitting a Peco interior after I've finished fitting the flush glazing. It would have been a lot simpler just to buy one of the current models but where's the fun in that?
  4. I used a similar arrangement to allow for the removal of a long platform canopy. It works well.
  5. Nice work Adam. That Farina Wolseley would look good in police black, perhaps with a very small led behind the radiator badge, although that might be going a bit too far!
  6. DCC decoder wire is pretty thin. I've used it for wiring leds.
  7. I'd second Ragtag's advice. Gluing the two decks together with PVA means you can easily take them apart again if necessary and PVA doesn't damage the paint.
  8. It's saved for me in Libre Office. A very useful list. Thanks to the creator.
  9. It was indeed the Lima chassis that was recommended although the current Hornby version would no doubt be suitable as well. I have a Lima chassis to use but, like a lot of my projects, this one is way down a long list of jobs to do! If I ever get around to it, it will join a fleet of seven Trix EM1's.
  10. I have a (quite old) resin body for an EM1 for which the recommended chassis is from a Western Class 52. As for Tommy, there are some quite significant differences from the production EM1's. If you look at photographs you will see that converting a Heljan body would quite an undertaking. The only one of the class to wear LNER livery (green) was Tommy. The rest were either BR black or BR green until they were repainted blue.
  11. Fulvio, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your English.
  12. Dublo Dinky vehicles were generally pretty good. Their Morris Oxford pick-up is a favourite of mine.
  13. No doubt at some time in the future a local preservation group will want to buy it with a view to full restoration,
  14. With a decent controller, it will crawl very well
  15. I have successfully replaced the tyred wheels on a Lima class 20 by obtaining spare wheels from Peter's Spares. There is a very substantial weight already inside and it will happily pull a dozen wagons even with a lightweight resin body. As a bonus it now has 8 wheel pickups.
  16. I have some of the Lego vehicles, a Beetle with a small section of the rear bumper missing, a Bedford flatbed and Mercedes articulated tanker both in Esso red. I wonder what they would fetch if I put them up for sale.
  17. My shed has insulated walls and roof. The floor is a double layer of half inch osb with a carpet on top. I generally find that running a small fan heater for a around seven or eight minutes raises the temperature to a comfortable level. As long as the door stays closed, the heat lasts a very long time.
  18. As a relatively new immigrant to Guisborough (from 2014), I'm finding this set of postings of great interest. I wonder if the recently suggested reopening to passengers of the line from Saltburn towards Boulby will ever materialise.
  19. I'll second that, Cararama wheels are very useful. Some of them represent modern alloys which may not be suitable but those from the Porsche and VW Beetle are quite generic and useful for a number of older vehicles. As for glazing, for those models which came without glazing, Deluxe Materials Glue-n-Glaze is ideal.
  20. Are you referring to plastic or die cast models? For diecast any propriety paint stripper should work but some of them take a while. Alternatively, boiling water and caustic soda. For plastic models try Superstrip from Phoenix Precision Paints. Some recommend Dettol for plastic but, in my experience, it tends to leave a sticky residue which is difficult to remove.
  21. If you Google British Railway Modelling Standards Bureau, it will come up
  22. Everything you need to know can be found on the British Railway Modelling Standards Bureau website.
  23. I've been using car body cellulose filler for years. It's in a tin rather than a tube but, if you close it firmly after use, it will remain usable indefinitely
