  1. No, it was planned that it would happen during its V&P due over the winter months and was reiterated during a shed meeting two weeks ago.
  2. Coming back to 70 - she will be in Operation over the Gala with nameplates with black background leaving on the first train from Kidderminster on Thursday at 8am.
  3. Having got my money back on the previous lot of parts I managed to get another over the weekend. Certainly amongst it is all the etches for an Alan Gibson 2p (possibly less cab sides) plus other etches which can be sold on all for £19 which seems like a good deal. I still need to get rid of more of the other lot so they may have to end up on you know where.
  4. Are they no longer available from DJH or on Ebay?
  5. Absolutely. I have a memory from somewhere engines on the mainline can only operate with boiler tickets of less than 7 years and 70 is now beyond that. Bearing in mind she is due a large V&P in January it is probably fair to say that while it is in very good condition that it would need extra work for mainline certification which would not be able to be done in a very quick time. She was certainly being admired on todays Heritage tours (or at least the one I ran this morning)
  6. Shockingly it sold, it seems like price gouging Meanwhile the nameplates on 70 were removed today to be painted black during this week before Gala. What happens livery wise later is not yet laid out. At present the loco is due to be repainted over the winter when it has its heavy V&P. However events may have changed that. Time will tell.
  7. In respect to our mourning for our Queen, the nameplates are to be painted with a black background.
  8. View Advert Westward models GWR Grange kit Here we have a GWR Grange kit, what you see is what you get as it does not have its original box nor instructions, although from the photos you can see it goes together logically. 9. Wow, is all that can be said, when my laptop opening on your latest post I thought it was a photo of a tree you were going to model, rather than one you had actually modelled. Fantastic modelling
  10. Ah but at least we would know in advance, what with the CCTV and tilt equipment with its white flashing light to tell us its clear. There is a solution, a bridge, but its cost is 4 million. It would be nice to think the Geobear technology recently used just south of Hampton might be able to be used. To explain more south of Hampton a twist started to appear resulting in a 5mph speed restriction. An experimental treatment has been applied by Geobear to stabilise the land by injecting polymers of different types across the slip site. Hopefully in time that 5 will come off. Meanwhile the technology may be applied at Bewdley South to deal with a developing land slip. the photos show the background to the works at Hampton in the woods.
  11. It will be back in early January. David is hoping to get the Transport Treasury there along with some other new dealers. Meanwhile I will just try to remember to take everything with me next time, lol
  12. We had a good amount of rain last night together with thunder and lightening and I'm pleased to say it is raining again. If it keeps this up for the next few days it will start to make a real difference.
  13. As you know cameras, light and our own perception of colour which changes with age has an impact on how we perceive colour. That's staying put. . Reading comments like these and some of the others is like reading a thread on any given loco as a new model. 1.4 million pounds has been spent and all people can do is complain and critique what they may or may not think. The paint colour looks different in the flesh and the power classification is a stick on. Reading comments like these it is really no wonder that some look in on our hobby and shake their heads. To answer the next question I have been involved in the MPD for 34 years doing anything on the jobs list, which for Hagley was mainly scrapping and painting early on as a large amount of work by the apprentices.
  14. Just for clarity presently the following are not possible pending replacement of points - Platform 3 at Bewdley is not a through platform as the point at the north end needs new point switches. - At Kidderminster it is not possible to go from the loop to platform 1 again due to switches needing replacement. Right now its not what is or is not available that is what we need. What we need now is RAIN, steady rain for days and days. each day we are forecast rain and it does not come. Hopefully we will see some over the next week or so as right now we are on our third steam replacement of the summer.
  15. Here's something to make you think . In 1972 3205 was just 26 years old and 46521 was only 19 years old!
  16. I've gone from the challenge of dealing with work stress to the stress of needing to get a new job. Having been made redundant at the end of July you would have thought loads would have been done, but nothing could be further from the truth. I finally manged to do some yesterday thinking I would build the Finelines J 0-6-4 that came in the lot of very random kits. Somehow whatever they did to it made all the white metal very fragile. In trying to solder the footplate together the front corner totally fractured into pieces. Mojo gone and whilst a new footpate has been cut from brass that has taken all day to achieve. Tomorrow is a new day and at least Sunday has half a day of driving which always lifts my mood to aim to do a little on Monday.
  17. The problems China has faced with Covid and then the repercussions have been well documented. I'm sure Hornby will be wanting to recoup their investment.
  18. I have another one sold to a friend and then 2 that I will try to sell on here, if not it will have to the madness. As for the Pug yes something very different. Finding decent bargains though is hard work.
  19. With my money back on the previous lot, which all I really wanted was the Craftsman Lord Nelson (and more to still move on) I have now got a Slaters 7mm Pug 0-4-0 complete with wheels, motor etc for £160 which seems a good deal when new its £275. Possibly one to build and then sell on.
  20. Just for clarity sadly the pub down the hill from the station at Highley - 'The Ship' there was a fire there on the 21st of July and at present it is still shut. If you are thinking of going down the hill at gala it would be recommended to check their Facebook page on the day, just in case they have reopened by then.
  21. Its so short it might as well be a bridge ! that's why most of us do not whistle - the only thing on my first driving test I was picked up on , lol
  22. As a historical note the town lost the e in about the late 19th century. In fairness after the footbridge there is still a little walk to high town.
  23. View Advert Westward Models GWR Saint 4-6-0 This is a Westward Models GWR Saint 4-6-0 - what you see in the photos is what comes with this lot. It enables the builder to make either a curved or straight drop front extension. This is sale is only for the loco as no tender was with it. Please note this is not in an original box. There are no instructions, however looking at assembly should be fairly logical and looks self evident. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Advertiser Blandford1969 Date 23/08/22 Price £40 Category OO / 4mm scale
  24. I'd agree on the baby's timetable, however having pushed my two up and down from High town to the station and back, (for me) it was not too bad (as a town resident) High town also has wonderful food that will eat you to a standstill at The Old Castle. They also keep a very good pint. For your other half Bridgnorth has some great small shops - such as 'Wild Heart' on Listley Street - my wife loves the clothes in there generally Italian but at really good prices.
  25. For breakfast AJ's just round the corner from the station and ironically under the SVR offices is great food at a great price. 2857 should not be too heavily loaded being a home fleet engine, albeit its last gala before withdrawal . Not sure on the 5 as to how much that will be a pull, we have not had one for a good few years since 5110 went out of traffic (from memory). The Engine House is worth a visit at Highley as you can watch trains go by. Not sure what the food is like now it is not upstairs. Downsides baby changing is not great and food on the railway can be expensive. The pub at Bridgnorth serves great beer and the cake in the restaurant is very good. Hagley Hall is likely to be heavily loaded being the first gala since coming back into traffic - it is now painted and is being shunted out of the TMD this morning. Not sure how heavily loaded the suggested Terrier might be, but would expect that on locals. At least being Thursday you will be much less likely to come into contact with the more pungent visitors which is more a trait of the tail end of the weekend.
