  1. Are Phoenix the only producer of the GNER blue ? Per class 91's etc , or dare I ask is there a Halfords colour that is close ? or a code they could use to make up an aerosol .?
  2. I do believe that it was a one-off, and read somewhere that it was originally for boat train services...but I could be mistaken!

As others have said stick to what you do best, which you did so well when you stuck your head above the sand at Dapol with the Western by engaging the buying public ,and still continue to do so, you seem to have your hands full enough as it is with current projects....and their train of arm chair experts !!!!
  4. Hi Darius, what was your trick in producing the vertical guide lines on the glazing for the blinds ? (Coaches look surperb).
  5. What a cracking job, something to be proud of , well done to you all.
  6. Lee... 2019.. a niche in the market for you for 12 months!!
  7. You can't beat an sae and cheque to Brian...works a treat.
  8. Mmm Clive , seeing that little collection makes the MTK offering look quite good...especially with etched grills! And given that it came out back in the 1970's
  9. Hi, looks good , did you at all look at the Genesis bogies ? , I am working on an old kitmaster power unit having painted it now in reverse blue grey, it has a correct trailing bogie, and adding Hornby type jumper cables on the front from a class 50 pack. I might look at your Lima route it makes good sense vs the existing triang type option. I have also flush glazed a triang unit and coaches a very easy transformation, but mulling over the catering vechicle with a sticker overlay off eBay where the grey is a bit darker and a need a find a further carriage to rearrange the windows.
  10. Did a day trip from Spain to Morocco yesterday, and yes the trains and due to open next month tgv are essentially an extension of sncf , but the contrast of some locals still on donkeys and horses and carts only 20 miles outside tangiers is mind boggling, I guess only India is similar! And maybe rural China.
  11. Although peter snows enthusiastic approach was bit cringing ,full marks to the editing ,capturing the volunteers and unsung heroes, as they are the stars of the series, especially given the short time period they had to play with , and having spent 7 years with a friend restoring a well known brand of German motor car, you can never cost the hours you spend head scratching and toiling to get things looking right. I would love to know what the budgets are for any of the restoration programmes on tv.
  12. Capri -sun orange juice straws look almost ok and Cables can be run through them!
  13. Mmm Ikb.. perhaps true for O guage where I would be inclined to agree....but in the main 00 guage has produced some stunning non runof the mill locos after a dodgy start with the 47 which despite its faults had a first class power unit and a wide variety of liveries, probably only matched by Lima !
  14. I have generally nothing but praise for hattons service...but they do at times trip up on pre-owned items...if anyone is looking at the MTK class 73 currently their site, do get them to double check what is in the box...as I took delivery of what may be the same item a couple weeks ago when is was advertised as including the motor....there was an empty box that should have contained the motor, no body parts or cabs ...only some wheels, bogie frames buffers and glazing....if it is the same item it's now advertised has motor not included. I can't fault hattons in their return acceptance of my order and a postage refund and it hasn't put me off using them again.
  15. All round it was a decent programme, and certainly when compared to similar motoring ones where they always seem to want the good cop bad cop approach to presentation. I am looking forward to the Pullman episode.
  16. A good buy after a recent run of bland subjects, and great modelling inspiration! Covers emu, dmu, some hybrids and hst coaching stock.
  17. An issue to follow the EE publication that came out last year, covers the numerous Sulzer powered locos interesting reading around the Lion and Kestrel, good photos for modelling inspiration with a tiny handful of photos from previous modern locos illustrated.
  18. Spares would be great..class 58 bogie frames so we can model 56042.
  19. Hi , if you are taking the plunge, Fox have a transfer pack ref FRH4010/3 which covers the life span of the coaches in br days.
  20. Ultrascale's are really worth the wait and cost, especially in terms of improved pickups and general appearance.....even more so on an AL1 or blue Pullman where you have the awful gripped wheels with the noise they generate.
  21. As mentioned the hurst etches were designed to use the early triang Hornby mk2's, I would imagine they are no longer available. Michaels ecthes are designed around the airfix/Dapol air con mk2s of which are readily available 2nd hand for around a tenner, and a good project to cut your teeth on.
  22. Halfords grey primer works a treat after a good clean as previously noted, its dries quickly, but allow a 24 hrs of so before any topcoats.
  23. Mm..I must be cursed... first the class 41 hst and now the 74!!! Thank goodness I have kit built examples...regardless keep up the excellent work Dave.
  24. Yep I agree... and in the 1960's triang had to face that lone dark horse in the name of competition called kitmaster! Who also had the nouse to replicate decent bogies.
  25. Just pared up the transfers against the coach side, and note that the door guttering will need smoothing off and the air con inlet grills will need filling in as they are the opposite end to those on the transfer. I have fitted southern finecast glazing which will probably provide a smoother base and saves filling in the windows.
