    Hornby 66s

Interesting the comment about the weight now being more than the Lima offering , as one up- side of Lima locos was that the weight was spot on, and that offerings by Hornby of the Lima range have been a little light weight ... maybe Hornby are now listening to consumers. I would like to see the Lima 60 return to the railroad range and the mainline 56 ( although the 2nd market is awash with them) , but I guess even at a half the price of the detailed offering there could be a sales conflict between the two so perhaps not too commercially viable.
  2. Definitely replacement, no dodgy glue marks or misaligned printing, and available for two different locos.
  3. Dapol have on their website drs bodies at a reasonable price, I have just taken delivery of one , can't fault the service and product, spare name plates, and beautifully packaged ,ideal for a body swap or a class 88 project!

    Dapol Class 21/29

Nice to see how Dapol just quietly get along with things with little fuss , looks another good model along with the class 59.. and those lucky n guagers with the Hst protype.
  5. I can appreciate the frustration from various quarters about the manufacturer duplicates in play with crowd funding etc, but it's a free market, and unfortunately djm have been very unlucky with a couple of choices of models to produce. Needless to say we may well end up with a choice of two very high quality models.
  6. Good news.... will there even be a side line in pantographs? I'm sure many of us would like those ?
  7. If anyone has any MTK ac locks kits in a built / half or non built start I would be interested in taking them off you. Tim.
  8. Hi, google looks to have examples of your end result. You have probably 4 choices if it helps. Find someone to the paint for you. Do the above yourself.with either rail match, humbrol or precision paints. Obtain some yellow adhesive backed paper and trim to share. Fox do waterslide transfers which would require the same trimming as the above.. Also the triang collectors club might be able help via their website.
  9. Railroad royal 47's a nice touch....but are the mk3 coaches still in the range ?
  10. Have we seen yet another classic Hornby screw up in a period when they are financial a bit wobbly? Does the 2019 range include mk3 sleepers in the Caledonia livery ?.... apologies if I have missed that if not then another loco with no typical stock to run behind it.
  11. Also begs the potential question of does the model zone liquidator own the tooling ?
  12. Hi , class 50 parts , new railway modellers do a Hornby pack ref x9284 which might help .
  13. Great news at last , thank you Ben. .., cash waiting ! I suspect for many of us the pantograph will be the deal breaker, I would hate to see a revamp let down by another monstrous effort, particularly when our European cousins seem to enjoy good offerings ... which also don't look out of place on the Hornby 86.
  14. Hi peters spares do excellent cast buffers for the 92 , and as to your extra motor question...it's one of those and why not answers, it can provide extra traction.... and otherwise it's just that someone fancied doing it . I asked my self the same question when I picked up a Hornby 86 .., with the original bogies... but twin Lima class 87 power units and wheels...so no rhyme or reason really... but I stand to be corrected!!
  15. Out of curiosity has there ever been a review of the murphys models mk2s v/s say the most recent issues of mk2's ? As liveries aside they look a nice model, and I wonder if murphys ever considered a blue grey run ? Or did they have enough demand from their local market in Ireland?
  16. Railways aside, it was a fascinating programme as to human endurance and history, amazing to see the infrastructure that remains in Poland , and drone shots of the camps I never quite realised their size, I have visited dachau where what is left to visit is tiny by comparison ... but then that is in the domain of the perpetrator! I would recommend all to watch the programme and with family members.
  17. Like many I purchase numerous second hand loco's, and despite what most traders claim , in my experience they rarely give loco's a 10 min service in the form of wheel cleaning and a brief oil, it's amazing how a little time will turn a potential dog into a solid working loco....meths and a cotton wool bud are excellent wheel cleaners! .. and oil not grease for ringfield type units.
  18. Love or hate it , full marks to channel 5 for promoting our hobby in a constructive manner , it's taken a very long time for someone to dip a toe in the water, and good to see some techniques being discussed.... even with the odd own goals !!
  19. Have a browse on you tube, there are some excellent views of rugby , Crewe and new street in the late 1980's which will give you plenty of inspiration!!
  20. Picked mine up , test in the shop very impressive on the slow running...and a minor item that made me smile was the note on the name plate packet......apply with bluetack !!!...oh really.
  21. The lack of communication to commit to additional stops is abello's greatest failing, along with not telling staff at a prior station that a train is terminating at the following station, I have on a few occasions recently in the peak hour boarded at Chelmsford only for the train to terminate at shenfield and for the following service which is fast through Chelmsford.. with space to rattle through Shenfield and that not a service from Norwich...I suspect that it a way of managing numbers at Chelmsford.. but either way an irration as a paying passenger.
  22. Yep, a great Drive is from nice round to portofino nearly 200 bridges and tunnels.
  23. Hope you found what what you were after. Just travelled from Venice to Rome, and , prior to that said to that said to my daughter what great scenery there will be between bolongia and Florence..little did I know that it is all tunnels..and impressive all the same, and enforces my view on how crap uk railways are now, especially around cost and comfort.
