  1. I would suggest that any model aircraft between 1:96 and 1:110 would work (3mm scale working out at 1:101.6). And if you haven't already, then joining the 3mm Society is a good idea
  2. Saw my first 142 on the motorway today! Vehicle 55574 (from 142033) on the back of a Reid Freight truck, southbound on the M1 near Trowell services at 0945 - assuming its on its way to EMR Kingsbury? *** Apparently seen in South Wales, possible spares unit for TFW ***
  3. Is it too late to advise of an error on the bogies? The centre axle hornkeep should be larger than the inner and outer ones (photo borrowed from Flickr to illustrate).
  4. The picture of the 80x gangway shows the body of a coupler made by Dellner, onto which can be fitted a coupling head (maybe a 10 or 12) or even a bar.
  5. Latest rumours are that these vehicles are to be preserved - possibly in Margate....
  6. Unfortunately, an act of vandalism has occured today which means the free bus service will not be running all day tomorrow (Sunday) https://bit.ly/34mDzKY
  7. Not sure on the electrical side, but you could replace the double slip with a plain diamond, as the routes are available with the other pointwork.
  8. Shades of Rosegrove (local spelling!) in a few of your photos - really looks the part.
  9. D1015 had a 'T' shape yellow panel for a period: Not my photo!
  10. I have just spent a nice half hour browsing the shop (and making a couple of small purchases). The shop is well stocked and the future plans look good. Together with the traditional hardware shop below, you'd be hard pressed to leave without something!
  11. Looks good - the little details you have added really give the layout some 'life'.
  12. Does building HM mean you need to buy more stock too?!
  13. If I recall correctly, the shed was a corrugated iron affair between the down platform and the avoiding line. Back in the 90's there was often an 08 stabled there - I believe that the shed was used for OTP servicing / stabling earlier on.
  14. Looks good Sometimes its good to just play trains, as it can help you see the bigger picture of your layout.
  15. The 56's are owned by GBRF, but operated by Victa Rail at Peak Forest.
  16. The M&S site is Castle Donington, while the new site is East Midlands Gateway. It was recently announced that Segro (the developers) have engaged Maritime Logistics as the operator of the rail terminal, so it looks like there may actually be some revenue-earning trains there.
  17. Wow - certainly a bit different to most diorama's! What length is A-Shop, and is your plan scale-length?
  18. I managed to miss this layout at Warley (quite) a few years ago - glad that there is still a chance to see this masterpiece.
  19. It's not an everyday occurrence - from memory it's happened less than half a dozen times in the last 10-15 years. But that's why I suggested it, as it is so rare
  20. Depending on how detailed you want to make your cameo, you could model the fitter inspecting a 142 gearbox to final drive carden shaft that had broken loose and dropped onto the track....
  21. Maybe model the retaining wall and edging stones of P5 and incorporate them into the 'picture-frame' of the scene. Also, using Google Earth, scale out a rectangle the size of your planned board so it's easier to see what fits.
  22. With regard to the side the handles are on, it simply depends on where the pipe exits the buffer-beam and which side would give the best access to operate the handle.
  23. Slightly O/T, but the main reason for the 180's poor reputation was due to th customer reducing the agreed price by around 30% after design had been completed. This meant a number of rapid cost-saving measures had to be implemented, such as removal of back-up systems, cheaper components etc. If built as originally planned it is likely that there would have been more of these and less Voyagers.
