  1. Could you make a removable model of the power box, rather than just the silhouette? It may help break the straight line of the baseboard and 'distract' viewers?
  2. It was meant to show that the unit is no longer derelict, but undergoing restoration. I understand where you were coming from with your original post but, as Chairman of the Friends of the 502 Group, felt I should ensure people know that the unit is no longer owned by the NRM and is being cared for. Thanks, Duncan
  3. Sorry to be late replying to this, but www.class502.org.uk proves otherwise!

The track at Whitrope is almost to the tunnel now - can't remember the exact length, but that's the limit for the time being. I've PM'd you contact details for the owner Charlie

A friend of mine owns RB004, one of the single car 141-style units. It's currently at Whitrope (Waverley Route Heritage Centre), so let me know when you need a recording and I'll sort it out

Serious question - will the early version feature the sound of the original Leyland engine, rather than the Cummins?

Will the model have opening doors? I ask in all seriousness, as I have been planning on making working doors for a 3mm 142.
  8. Wow - they look great! Are you adding passengers too? I've looked, but couldn't spot any.
  9. That's pretty much it, although he did say to me that if he got enough orders of one kit type he would consider producing a small batch. You could always petition Hattons to produce a RTR version....
  10. The 502 kits were available from E-traction Kits or via the Friends of the 502 Group. However, they were only produced in small batches once a certain number of a variant had been reached. We (the 502 Group) haven't sold any for a while though so have removed them from our online shop. I would suggest still having a look on our site though! And here is the link to the rmweb thread: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/46487-e-traction-kits-class-502/
  11. Looks like this will be an interesting thread - hopefully I'll pick up some good tips Looks like this will be an interesting thread - hopefully I'll pick up some good tips
  12. Semi-permanently blocked up doesn't count as retention! (Or maybe that's just Northern units!)
  13. They look really good - and one big advantage of modelling WCR stock is that you don't have to worry about working interior lights!
  14. Saw the layout at the BELMRS show earlier - it's very impressive!
  15. As your timescale is 2011 onwards, you could get away with using unbranded Centro 150's, as Northern put the sets they gained to work straight away - assuming Centro units are cheaper / more available than Northern ones!
  16. To say you aren't home much Anthony, your progress is amazing! Will you be running a 'camera train' when the layout is finished? I think a drivers-eye video would be really interesting.
  17. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person who's thought this sort of fiddle yard would be a good idea!
  18. Looks really good! Makes you wonder how many other weird and wacky loco designs were around at that time (and how close they may have come to being built!)
  19. Glad to hear you didn'y have a real river running through your layout!
  20. Looks good to me! Maybe if you shorten the top 3 sidings slightly then you could move the points away from the board joint?
  21. The tanks look good, but I'm really impressed with the 142 lights!
  22. Although I haven't ordered one (not got a big enough layout yet!), would a possible solution to the "They haven't produced the name / number I wanted" problem be to offer an un-named / un-numbered version?
  23. You've fitted the track upside down!
  24. Aye, but once it's done, it's done!
  25. Just a thought, but how come no-one seems bothered that Bachmann have used a 150/2 underframe on the 150/1 models? There are quite a few differences between a /1 and /2 - one of the most obvious being that /2's have two coolant pipes from the radiator panel, whereas /1's only have 1.
