  1. We both had our second jab yesterday (AZ) and unfortunately absolutely nothing to report......except that we have not caught Covid since then, must be good stuff
  2. Back to the thread now.....didn’t get a piccy as too far away but while waiting for Mrs BB in the docs car park an obviously daily driver poodles by, a Roman Bronze metallic 1300 Mk1 M reg Escort......even had an MoT until next year!
  3. Right......we’ll give you a week to get it fired up and then it’s all around to Joe’s for a nosh up lads

  5. You should see the size of the white Sparras around here that Nick the holiday makers chips
  6. No, this is Sorry, couldn’t resist that one
  7. It must have been a very long time ago, or a very old car as dual systems have been a requirement for years.
  8. Being a Merc they probably put the handbrake switch under the dash near the column as always?
  9. I think that is off the X5 and is centrally mounted on the rear body, the cable with the loop is attached to the switch/lever.....it’s an old design from before 2000 or so.
  10. No they are not, all the systems I know of have the motor on the wheel hub at the brake there are no cables as such just a direct linkage from motor to mechanism.
  11. He could (as a lot do) slip in a contactless phone charging space, storage bin, adjustable armrest......quite a few things really.
  12. Completely wrong.....in my manual it says continuous pressure on the handbrake switch will engage the brakes in an emergency, it’s a legal requirement (or was about 8 years ago as I recall).
  13. It might reduce the height of a few speed bumps on the way though
  14. The other advantage is the electronic motor can exert much more power than a stretchy cable thus giving far better “bite” at the brake disc/drum. The only real disadvantage we ever identified was it is nigh on impossible to design an electronic system triggered by a small lever/switch that can be “feathered” like an old mechanical handbrake, then again nowadays total brake failure of the main system is virtually unheard of as they are all at least duelled systems.
  15. I believe you mean thru’penny ........weren’t you dragged up like wot I woz?
  16. Yep, oddly I checked on a few weeks ago and I am still “qualified” for a powered mower on the roads! I might pop down the pharmacy on mine later today
  17. So many “old lags” leant to drive in either National or General service and never had to update their “keep within the white washed stones” technique
  18. Nah mate.....two tanners.....me ole’mucker
  19. Well I suppose you couldn’t get much more automatic at gear selection than not having the option
